To have let kitchen go because Tesco's do not come in anymore

lazyfecker · 27/10/2020 17:27

Just been cleaning the kitchen it is an absolute pit - when Tesco's used to bring the shopping right into the kitchen it forced me to do a little cleanup every week but that has been not been happening for months😝

Also please for the love of God could someone tell me about an easy way to clean up a bin? or a way of holding my rubbish in an easier receptacle than most pedal bins?

My current Adidas pedal bin is soaking in the bath with half a bottle of L'Oreal Dream Lengths shampoo the shampoo was hopeless for my hair let's hope it does a better job of cleaning the bin!!!!! It certainly smells goodGrin

Haven't you any bleach, Zoflora, disinfectant or other actual cleaners that kill all the germs that must be growing in there?! It's a bin. It's for things you have thrown away. It needs to be free of smells. It doesn't need to be sterile.

I can tell you all now, that NO delivery driver or tradesman cares one shiny sht about the state of your house.

They just want to get in, deliver the goods, do the job as agreed, get paid, and that's that. My neighbour's son is a spark and he earns a fortune, great to have a trade and he said the same. They don't care, it is a job and they have seen everything.

I don't believe that. There are people who judge in every job. I'm glad the delivery is dropped by the door now, my kitchen is clean and decorated if you got a chatty driver it was harder to get rid of them from inside.

Ontheboardwalk · 27/10/2020 22:41

Lazyfecker They were regular visitors and kept me on my toes😂

I’m with you on that one. Ocado driver (pre Covid) caught me off guard asking to use my loo when the house was untidy. I had loads of items on the stairs to be taken up when passing (they were of course still there) and I’d not hoovered

Going forward my late afternoon delivery gave me the push to get everything done Saturday morning so I then could relax

Glitteryone · 27/10/2020 22:44

I clean my kitchen daily I don’t understand how you let it go months.... That’s disgusting

slipperywhensparticus · 27/10/2020 22:46

I put the bin outside with water in it and drop the lid in to soak

SlopesOff · 27/10/2020 22:50

@FakeFlamingo

I don't get gross bins? If food waste is separated the other bins stay dry & barely need cleaning. Food waste caddy goes in the dishwasher. Job done.

Can't believe that people wash their all-garbage bins in their bath!!! Confused I'd find it too disgusting to ever sit in the bath after that.

I don't know about you, but I clean my bath when it has been used Grin.

Sorry but they don't care much, unless there are mushrooms growing or other awful stuff. They see nothing further than the tap, boiler, electrics etc. that they have been contracted to fix.

Normal life and messy stuff is fine. But hey if you want to have your place pristine for them to muck it up in the end, away you go!

Relax and don't give a damn what anyone thinks. We are far too hard on ourselves.

lazyfecker · 28/10/2020 04:29

@Lolwhat

We opted for a smaller bin due to laziness of squashing the bin down to fit more in and then not being able to get the bag back out🤣 I rinse it out with boiling water and whatever cleaning product is about that day🤣
I like the way you think! Grin

@SospanFrangipan That's absolutely revolting Confused

lazyfecker · 28/10/2020 06:19

@blueberryporridge

My life improved significantly when I ditched my general waste kitchen bin (which was a nightmare to clean) and started hanging a carrier bag/bin bag with tie handles off two hooks (one for each bag handle) on the back door. Bag goes straight out to the outside bin when full. No mess, no bin cleaning , no overfull bins - result!
That is interesting I have been looking at a basket frame thing to hang on a cupboard door either inside or out to hold the bag.

@Hahaha88

Why are people emptying their bin every day? How ridiculous is that for the environment with barely used bin liners getting chucked every day??
Yes I have to be budget conscious - the bags that I use are expensive and very good but if I was to just put The rubbish in a smaller bag every day to put in the larger bin I would have to get cheaper thinner smaller bags

Never had an issue with a smelly bin, it's a brabantia and the bin bags are really good. I've got a food caddy too which I use for scraps and this gets emptied every couple of days.

I don't understand why you're not cleaning your kitchen! Doesn't it feel a dirty?

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 28/10/2020 07:26

Every time I take the bin bag out, I spray the bin with dettol, leave it for 5 minutes, then wipe down with a cloth. Takes about a minute total cleaning time. It's never been dirty enough for a full soak in the bath Confused.

I buy the cheap eco bags. A bin stink after a day if leftover food in them especially in summertime the thought of squashing an indoor bin for more room is ick.
Throw away the bin use small bag daily.

Nospringchickendipper · 28/10/2020 08:07

Ive just had a pop up ad on the right hand side off the screen for wheelie bins😀 Has any one else had this.

Sheknowsaboutme · 28/10/2020 08:16

I love my bin! Never get bin juice as all food waste goes into the brown caddy. I also love cleaning my kitchen.

And I always use bin liners in the bathroom ones.

Maybe this thread isnt for me😉

AlwaysLatte · 28/10/2020 08:41

I have this bin from Simple Human. It's the easiest bin I've ever had to keep clean, as it has a removable inner bin and the liners fit perfectly. Then when I need to clean the plastic inner I take it outside, spray it with kitchen cleaner then hose it. Wipe the outside of the bin and lid every day.

@DC3Dakota It's obviously not growing mould, but has been sat there since Sunday. Somethings have to give when you're WFH with a 3 y/o during half term 🤦‍♀️

HBGKC · 28/10/2020 09:42

@Zagziggirl how do you find the lids on those bins? I have the small ones in my bathroom, and find the lids really difficult to remove; they seem far too tight and too rigid, it's a real hassle to manoeuvre them off Confused

Noitjustwontdo · 28/10/2020 09:45

I had a friend who didn’t own a kitchen bin, she took rubbish out to the wheely bin constantly. It totally baffled me, I just couldn’t be bothered with it at all.

I pour zoflora and hot water in mine once a week, give it a swill and chuck it in the drain outside.

  1. I wish I had a horse in the back to clean my bin.
  2. Zoflora!!!!
Plussizejumpsuit · 28/10/2020 09:55

Oooh bin chat...
I agree simple is better. I've had various more expensive and fancy ones especially peddle ones just break and have extra bits to clean.
