To have let kitchen go because Tesco's do not come in anymore

Just been cleaning the kitchen it is an absolute pit - when Tesco's used to bring the shopping right into the kitchen it forced me to do a little cleanup every week but that has been not been happening for months😝

Also please for the love of God could someone tell me about an easy way to clean up a bin? or a way of holding my rubbish in an easier receptacle than most pedal bins?

My current Adidas pedal bin is soaking in the bath with half a bottle of L'Oreal Dream Lengths shampoo the shampoo was hopeless for my hair let's hope it does a better job of cleaning the bin!!!!! It certainly smells goodGrin

I never clean my bin because it never gets dirty. Simple human bin liners, can get these from Amazon. Won’t rip, thick, nothing leaks.

mumwon · 27/10/2020 19:05

I use automatic wash powder to clean everything virtually - especially the scented on (not shiny surfaces because its abrasive though)
fill it full of water use cloth to clean - usually clean holey socks! - & swish it down the loo - shudders at thought of making the bath dirty & as for putting in the dishwasher - sorry but just no!

Adidas do bins? Are you sure you haven't been putting your rubbish in an old trainer? I can imagine that would get a bit skanky!
I always wash my Adidas in Badedas!
ekidmxcl · 27/10/2020 19:05

Oh and this means my wheelie bin is also very clean

gingganggooleywotsit · 27/10/2020 19:07

Mammylamb · 27/10/2020 19:12

lazyfecker · 27/10/2020 19:13

I found a clip on YouTube about a woman who tried to invent a self cleaning kitchen in the 80sGrin

We have yet to find a bin that works for ys 🙄 so we have a carrier bag hanging off the door and a box for recycling!

NRatched · 27/10/2020 19:15

@GirlCrush

what? mumsnet BATH their bins??

i had no idea!

Ahaha me neither, I love this place sometimes Grin
commandatori · 27/10/2020 19:15

I don’t put anything in my bin that would smell, all food waste goes into appropriate bin outside straight away which we share with other flats. That one is pretty mingling Grin I found nothing got rid of the smell before I started doing this, like it actually permeated the plastic of my bin. I wrestled with that fucking thing enough times before I snapped and went to b&m for a new one.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 27/10/2020 19:19

don;t forget to finish off the bin clean with matching conditioner Grin

Namechangeme87 · 27/10/2020 19:36

I got excited then by an adidas bin

Adis? Blah

tenlittlecygnets · 27/10/2020 19:43

You're cleaning your kitchen bin in the bath???! Grim.

I don't have a bin. Hate them. I hang a bin bag over a cupboard door and chuck it each day.

teddyclown · 27/10/2020 19:53

We have one of these:
www.betterbin.co.uk/
Basically, it's a hole in the kitchen worktop with a plastic surround and lid to enable a bin bag to be suspended beneath. I think we're on our third since the early '90s because eventually the plastic surround breaks. Wouldn't have anything else. Simples.

fuckfuckingcovid19 · 27/10/2020 20:03

Why is it grim if the bath is cleaned afterwards?

Hahaha88 · 27/10/2020 20:10

Why are people emptying their bin every day? How ridiculous is that for the environment with barely used bin liners getting chucked every day??

Hahaha88 · 27/10/2020 20:11

It’s a Henry so I take him apart and everything apart from the motor goes in the bath for a soak and then gets rinsed and hung in my laundry room to dry.
lovelemoncurd · 27/10/2020 20:23

You cleaned your house...for Tesco's?! Er just clean for your own sake. It's hygienic.

TinyGhost · 27/10/2020 20:34

I am exhausted from lifting chairs up and putting them on the table to mop - It really puts me off the job!

I don’t lift chairs, or use a traditional mop.

I use a damp microfiber mop to clean underneath table, then another to dry with.

Push chairs back in.

The mop cloths can then go in washing machine. No wringing required.

Grin yeah don't want a frizzy unmanageable bin!

FakeFlamingo · 27/10/2020 21:03

I don't get gross bins? If food waste is separated the other bins stay dry & barely need cleaning. Food waste caddy goes in the dishwasher. Job done.

Can't believe that people wash their all-garbage bins in their bath!!! Confused I'd find it too disgusting to ever sit in the bath after that.

That is a really clever idea I have never seen one of those before

We opted for a smaller bin due to laziness of squashing the bin down to fit more in and then not being able to get the bag back out🤣 I rinse it out with boiling water and whatever cleaning product is about that day🤣
