Blanket freak

Is it weird to have a blanket/ throw folded on your sofa, so that you can snuggle up with it when on the sofa? My husband has just gone on about how he hates the blanket and nobody else has a blanket for this purpose. It's nice, matches the room etc. AIBU?

I have two - a shawl/blanket (a shlanket?) that I wear when I’m working if it’s a bit chilly but I can’t be arsed to put the heating on, and a lovely checked wool number.

Got my eye on one I saw in the National Trust shop plus the one in the expensive farm shop but I haven’t got £200 to spare .

No, apart from when i lived in a student house with a leather sofa.

I have one on my bed in winter, so could bring it down I suppose. I do have a Very Snuggly Cardigan.

Snuggling under blankets is something people do when they're ill. I don't get the love for it at all. Don't you have heating.

I do have heating. But I also love spending my money on nice things (like wine, chocolate and beautiful coloured blankets) and hate spending my money on home heating oil. So putting a blanket on my legs is infinitely more appealingly to me than putting the heat on. The heat goes on during the day when we need it but in the evening, we're just sitting there relaxing so a blanket does the same job and is cosier.

My DH is under one right now, as am I.

My husband doesn't like cushions! Imagine that.

Which is odd. As he appears to be using one as we speak 🙄

DH is like that about the blankets. He tells me they're pointless.

They can't be that pointless considering that he uses one everyday

I've got a heated one, bloody love it.

It's a boy/girl thing.

DD has a gazillion blankets. Some are on her bed, and the others are toted around the house. DS thinks they are really, really weird.

They are both young adults.

I am a woman of a Certain Age, and agree with DS.

I also loathe anything to do with "snuggly", "cuddly", "snuggled", "cosy", and all that stuff. I hate Autumn and Winter, and have no desire to drown in hot chocolate under a sodding blanket.

The best present I’ve ever received was a freebie my cousin got me from her work. It’s a fleece blanket, with the bottom bit folded up so that there’s a nice deep pouch to put your feet into. Then there’s a pocket on the front for the TV remote. I love the thing and it’s on my sofa permanently.

So have we. We have a very old house, and some of the windows don't shut (to DD's horror). I just say that anyone who wants to be warm needs to sit next to the Aga. I do close the kitchen door, though, so as not to lose the Aga heat through the other windows. My DC hate me.

We have 5 blankets in our living room, two which I have made. Yanbu to have blankets in your living room. I'd be snuggled under all of them and not let your blanket hating dh have any mwahaha!

We have 4. A plush fluffy one, a handmade crochet one and 2 slankets. I’ve got the crochet one on right now.

I love this one, it’s lovely and soft.

We got a whole pile of them. The first time I ever came across this was my German SIL about 30 years ago.

2 sofas + 1 armchair = 3 blankets draped and ready to go. Even in summer.
My parents, inlaws and most family I can think of have sofa blankets. My mum changes hers around depending on the season (lighter ones in warmer months, thicker & cosier in winter). I think your DH is incredibly weird for not knowing this was a thing. I mean, HOW does he snuggle up in the evenings without a blanket??!!

We have several blankets. Including 1 and a half crocheted by me. DD has the 1, and I have the half over my knees as I work on it.

Tell him we have 2 duvets. That will really upset him.

we love a good blanket.. they weren't a thing growing up, but my mom adopted them when she was widowed as she didnt see the point in heating the whole house when she was on her own in the lounge.. so went for lighting the fire and using a blanket.

When she came to live with me, the blankets came with her, and the first thing she did was buy me a BIG fluffy one that i loved.

We moved recently, new colour scheme, so my lovely cuddly red blanket has been relegated to my bedroom, and new ones purchased from Dun Elm that match the lounge colour scheme xD

They're currently being used as throws over the back of the leather sofas, but in grabbing distance for snuggling under when needed!

(we also have a plethora of co-ordinating fluffy pillows lol)
