Is it weird to have a blanket/ throw folded on your sofa, so that you can snuggle up with it when on the sofa? My husband has just gone on about how he hates the blanket and nobody else has a blanket for this purpose. It's nice, matches the room etc. AIBU?

I love my faux fur blanket . It's cream , super soft & snuggly & looks really expensive. I'm going to buy another for the bed, in the mink colour.

fortran · 23/10/2020 20:46

Two on the sofa and one each for the cats.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 23/10/2020 20:46

I have 2 stunt blankets, they’re Highland wool and itchy as fuck. But, they look gorgeous draped over the end of the sofas.
Then we have another 8 fleece ones that we snuggle under, there’s also a couple of folded fleece blankets placed on my bed for the cat.
I haven’t had the heating on yet as we’re not cold thanks to our blankets.
I do have to use my blankets year round since getting the cat as he thinks my legs are his scratching posts.

marveloustimeruiningeverything · 23/10/2020 20:47

We have blankets in our living room, and the cat even has a few of ihs own. Grin

PoloNeckKnickers · 23/10/2020 20:52

I have to share with my cats. One likes to get under and the older cat gets on top. 1 blanket + 2 cats = lower heating bill.

It's certainly not a boy-girl thing.

Both DS's lovely cuddling up with a throw on the sofa.

DS1 is always stealing them for bed even though he has his own.

tenlittlecygnets · 23/10/2020 21:00

We have lots. We all love a blanket!!

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 23/10/2020 21:00

Love not lovely!

Allthedoggos · 23/10/2020 21:01

We have a pile of about 6 blankets for exactly this reason! Your DH is proper BU

Enko · 23/10/2020 21:02

Um... whatever floats your boat.

Some people, male or female, love snuggy blankety things.

Others, either male or peri/menopausal women, think they are the spawn of the Devil.

fitbciz1 · 23/10/2020 21:08

Your DH is completely unreasonable. We have 2 quilts and 2 crochet blankets. I made them all, they don't go with each other, let alone anything else, and are rarely folded.

Staffy1 · 23/10/2020 21:09

We don't have one and I didn't know it was a thing, never mind so popular. Never go anywhere now, but in the days we did, none of our friends had one either, but I wouldn't say it was weird to have one.

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/10/2020 21:11

There will be a death before someone removes my throw!

Also, my ex BF has one as I bought it for him (well, me for when I was there!) because his sofa is leather and cold. He messaged me the other day (we are still friends) asking if I could get another from the same place if he transfers me the money so he doesnt have to have a cold sofa when its in the wash! TOld him to bugger off and buy it himself, but the point is that it isnt a Girl Thing.

HowFastIsTooFast · 23/10/2020 21:11

DP and I have one each, and we have also have 2 spares Blush

MeridianB · 23/10/2020 21:11

We have about 6 in the lounge. Pre covid my friends would snuggle under one too lol

pointythings · 23/10/2020 21:12

I'm sitting here under mine, and when the various offspring are here, they have theirs. It means I can have the central heating on lower, it means I can adjust my temperature when the hot flushes hit - what's not to like?

JaceLancs · 23/10/2020 21:15

I have one on the back of each sofa - as the cats prefer sitting on them and keeps the pet hair down
DS and I have a snuggle blanket each but they are folded up in corner between the 2 sofas when not in use
All match my colour scheme
At Xmas they get swapped for red tartan ones

AcornAutumn · 23/10/2020 21:17

I have one, guests love it.

grapewine · 23/10/2020 21:18

I have two. So your husband is wrong and wholly unreasonable.

Whererainfalls · 23/10/2020 21:21

My DH is a cold person*, whereas I'm very warm-blooded, so we always have the heating up far too high (IMO, obviously). So I rarely feel the need for a blanket unless I'm actually ill.
I have a beautiful wool blanket that MIL made for me, but I've rarely used it, which is a shame.

  • I never realised until DH that people who fall asleep on the sofa/anywhere that's not a bed need to be covered with a blanket immediately or they will get their death of cold and expire forthwith. Even if it's fucking 30 degrees outside. Not doing so makes you a very, very bad person who actively wishes harm on the sleepee. Confused
grapewine · 23/10/2020 21:21

@polkadotpixie

Your DH would hate me...not only do I have a sofa blanket, I also have a sofa duvet! It lives in the cupboard under the stairs during the day but I get it out every evening to snuggle under 😂
I aspire to this level of cosiness! :-)
