Is it weird to have a blanket/ throw folded on your sofa, so that you can snuggle up with it when on the sofa? My husband has just gone on about how he hates the blanket and nobody else has a blanket for this purpose. It's nice, matches the room etc. AIBU?

If it's wrong I don't want to be right.

We have a big blanket on the sofa and a medium one on the arm chair.

And a couple on each bed.

Then if we need more than one in the living room we can bring them from bedrooms to enhance the sofa snuggling.

@Grobagsforever no FIL tidies everywhere he goes. Owns 4 hoovers. Just mental. He likes the minimalist look. In these Covid times we don’t get many guests as he and hubby’s step mum are our childcare. Precocovid though it would stay out for others then away for him.

anothergloriusmorning · 23/10/2020 21:24

We have lots of blankets. Currently one on each sofa, plus one on a chair in the kitchen because DS always wraps himself up to eat his breakfast. Both kids have a few on their beds too. I do get cross that I'm the only person that ever folds them up or puts them away though!

We definitely didn't have blankets on the sofas growing up. I don't remember us having blankets at all actually?! Just duvets on our beds plus electric blankets under the sheet when it was really cold.

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 21:26

I've got 2. Got one over me now!

echt · 23/10/2020 21:26

I have a heavy faux-fur throw, bought from M&S before I came to Australia, and it lies over the arm of the sofa and marks the seasons, as it's not until it's reliably warm weather that it goes under the bed.

It his important it has a name: Wolf. Now I think of it, several of the blankets have names.

Your DH is entirely unreasonable.

BabyYoda · 23/10/2020 21:27

We used to sit at opposite ends of the sofa sharing the blanket like the grandparents from Willy Wonka Grin

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 21:28

Can't stand fleece material though so ours are actually nice Grin

yelyah22 · 23/10/2020 21:30

We have a blanket on each sofa (nice, matches the room) AND a duvet for each sofa that's stored underneath each one! All about comfort here :)

MarinPrime · 23/10/2020 21:36

I thought blankets on sofas were for dogs to lie on, to keep the sofa clean and unscratched.

grisen · 23/10/2020 21:36

I’ve taken it a step further and have a designated sofa duvet, but in reality we have the sofa duvet which my partner puts away into the spare bedroom every night, and a few blankets depending on how cold I am, none of which match anything else.

justgeton · 23/10/2020 21:39

We have them and love them. Having grown up in the 70s in a house with minimal heating I just wish they were the norm back then.

Worstyear2020 · 23/10/2020 21:43

We have 2, one for the dog and one for me (normally folded away until evening).

fucknuckle · 23/10/2020 21:44

glad to see the ‘i don’t even HAVE a television’ brigade are representing on this thread.

just so you know - it doesn’t give you moral superiority over the proles with their idiot boxes.

i bet you watch films though, on your laptop. films that have subtitles and moody lighting, obviously. if you don’t even do that then i don’t know what to say. why deprive yourself of entertainment? do you just spend your free time doing Very Hard Sums and cryptic crosswords?

PurpleFlower1983 · 23/10/2020 21:46

We have one on each sofa.

Orcadianrythyms · 23/10/2020 21:47

I got a heated one from QVC this week which was destined for someone's Christmas but is now all mine Grin.

Ginfilledcats · 23/10/2020 21:48

I have dozens. I hate it when I go to friends houses and there's no blankets!

Snugglepumpkin · 23/10/2020 21:48

I have way too many blankets & I love it.

I keep a couple in the living room which are rolled up & stored in a (clean) log basket beside the fireplace when I tidy.
They do match the room as I have a cushion on each sofa which is made from the same fabric.
I have different ones depending on the time of year.
We also have multiple blankets to go on each bed in different weights for different seasons complete with their matching cushion on chairs in the bedrooms.

Plus I have spares from old decorating schemes I had years ago that now don't go with anything right now, but might one day if I use those colours again.

I'm waiting for a delivery of wool & then I'll be sat with my blanket knitting a new one for the next few months (I'm slow & it's a big blanket I'll be knitting)

PinkBuffalo · 23/10/2020 21:50

Your DH would hate me too!
I live by my own and have thick blanket on back of sofa, thin blanket on spare part, pillow (with a dog cover on on it) and a big soft toy dog all on my sofa!
I think most people have the blanket though, yanbu!

QueenPaws · 23/10/2020 21:53

Yep, I have a blanket storage box and then one on the back of the sofa because the cat has commandeered it. And a merino wool one on the bed

MiniMum97 · 23/10/2020 21:53

We have three. One on each sofa/chair.

Most people I know have least 1.

Very normal.

If my DH was adamant that he could not live with the blankets, I might have to divorce him. He likes them too though so we are ok😊

youdidask · 23/10/2020 21:55

We have lots, some for humans, some for the cats.
Husband hates them all and will often mutter and throw them to another chair.

itwaseverthus · 23/10/2020 21:57

Sat here toasty with my Avoca wool blanket and the living flame fire on. It's totally normal and if my father in law objected, he could sit without one. I think throws or blankets are just completely normal and sensible even?

maddiemookins16mum · 23/10/2020 22:01

We have a poncey basket next to the sofa with three blankies folded up in it. It saves a fortune on heating bills too.

maddiemookins16mum · 23/10/2020 22:02

Brilliant post.
NeedToKnow101 · 23/10/2020 22:04

@Veryverycalmnow - your DH has so been proved wrong Grin
