To think that Marcus Rashford is great

I have never been in a position now or in the past where I’ve ever needed to rely on Free School Meals. However, I have a brain and I’m capable of understanding that people without much money may need a bit of help. Marcus has come from this background and is highlighting an injustice that needs to be highlighted. What the actual fuck is wrong with people/Tory MPs who are briefing against this? SMFH

@RunBackwards

A PP said his father is now his agent, is that true,I can't find anything on Google?
That's his brothers.
RunBackwards · 23/10/2020 22:37

@ViciousJackdaw

Absolutely where is his father???

Rashford's father, Robert, acts as his agent so whatever has happened in the past, they are clearly fine now. But that's just it - we don't know what happened do we? For all we know, his mother might have refused to accept a penny from him, she certainly seems like a proud woman.

I love him almost as much as I love Jurgen Klopp...and that's a lot

Me too! Ich liebe Kloppo!

Where is his father? I think we should be told. Maybe the family are in fact closet scroungers.

Why does it matter where his father is? It’s not your business is it. Is it affecting your life? Are you his mother that raised Marcus?
MrsGrindah · 24/10/2020 16:24

I’m 51 and my crush is totally inappropriate isn’t it?!

Lollyneenah · 24/10/2020 16:51

Hes amazing. I'm so proud of him. And hes what-22/23?
Such an inspiration

RunBackwards · 24/10/2020 17:37

I think it does matter if the family were poor because a father who could/should have provided didn't, only because whilst as I said earlier, I absolutely agree feeding the children should be priority, I do think Rashford has a unique platform to speak to absent and potential absent fathers and "ask" them to remember their responsibilities as part of this work to ensure children are properly provided for.

The meals are very very important and he's achieved amazing things, but dealing with one of the causes would be good too.

A PP said he's now the player's agent, I'm not sure if that's true though, I can't find anything online.

lljkk · 24/10/2020 17:50

His brothers are his agents. This info is easy to find online.
I am confused by people thinking Rashford is responsible for his father's faults.

I am in awe of how Rashford says the right thing. He ignored the MP who accused him of virtue signalling but when different groups stepped forward to fill the FSM gap, he said their activity made him Proud to be British. Master class in rising above.

RunBackwards · 24/10/2020 17:55

Yes, I can see his brothers are his agents but @ViciousJackdaw says here that his father is, which I didn't think was correct.

I don't think anyone is saying he is responsible for his fathers faults but I do think (maybe as his next project Wink) he could reach young men and educate them about their responsibilities, in a way that government can't, as part of this work to make sure children are provided for.

Any male footballer Sleb could take on the job of promoting responsible fatherhood. I don't follow football, but I bet there are suitable candidates among MR's colleagues.

So many athletes are having to live in bubbles away from families. I've seen some teary reactions from men who just achieved a sporting triumph & missed having their families at the finish/celebrations.

Posted on his Twitter last night - didn't think I could love him more

And now England’s top doctors have attacked the government for their dreadful stance and have called Marcus Rashford an inspiration - as he surely is. The other Home nations are supporting the most deprived children, as all decent people should. How shameful that England should behave in this way.

YANBU. He has done a fantastic job at raising awareness not just shared few tweets and jumped on a bandwagon

AllPlayedOut · 25/10/2020 11:26
