I’m such an idiot!!!
I’m a seller on Etsy and have posted out an order today (a gift box that a woman ordered for her friend).
She wanted a gift message included.
I’ve just been looking at her order again and realised she wanted her name “Grainne” on it but I remember I wrote “Love Granny” on it.
I don’t know how this happened as I’m normally extremely careful with all the little details. The order has been posted out now so there’s nothing I can do. The friend will receive it and be really confused as to who sent it.
I feel awful that I’ve probably ruined the surprise and will now likely receive a bad review too.
Should I email the customer to warn her and profusely apologise (and maybe offer a refund or a replacement?)
Or should I say nothing and see what happens?
:-(

I'm so sorry.

My rotten, rotten child posted that bum.

Don’t worry- it is a genuine mistake and actually quite funny ! A note explaining and apology would definitely be the best option

We are in NI so they have an extra week off of school. He's clearly bored.

Send help.

Post a letter/ postcard to the lady receiving the present and explain. Mistakes happen and I don’t see why this has to create a major issue. If I was the one receiving it and got the clarification then that’s it, it’s fine. There are worse things in the world to worry about.

An unfortunate time for a lack of attention to grammatical detail Grin

If you know how this Irish name is actually pronounced Grawnya so it's almost there

TwinMama6 · 23/10/2020 13:30

Have you had any feedback op?

wombat1a · 23/10/2020 14:24

Email the customer, apologise send a replacement tag to the person. Do not send a new gift box - there is nothing wrong with the one you already sent out. If you want to go further a voucher of say 5 pounds (ie 25%) would be a reasonable goodwill gesture. You will probably get more repeat business from them and their friends now.

Kodama361 · 23/10/2020 16:37

@TwinMama6 yes I’ve updated the thread a few times to say the customer was really nice about it and didn’t care. She said it was hilarious and refused to accept any sort of goodwill gesture from me. Thank god I got a nice customer who was gracious and not a miserable grump

AibuTellMe · 23/10/2020 17:41

Send an apology and free gift to the person recieving it and let the person who brought it know and apologise
