Dogs are amazing

DH and I sitting having a tearful heart to heart about infertility and what will we do if his sperm count is still low on the next test. Darling Dog (now DD) jumps up on the sofa and puts her paw on my arm, in an obvious attempt to soothe me, DH and I were so taken aback by her sweetness that it totally took us out of ourselves and made us laugh, it really was the loveliest moment and she was obviously concerned about me. She looked SO worried.

Dogs get a hard time on here, but the concern DD had on her face was just incredible and has made a v sad me feel a whole lot better. She is a little sweetheart. Dogs are amazing.

Dogs are wonderful and know when you need cheering up. There was a TV programme a couple of years ago where they tested different breeds for empathy and the one that came out with the most was the Staffordshire Bull Terrier despite so many people thinking they're evil.

MrsExpo · 17/10/2020 21:00

Definitely agree with you. Our doggy is currently lying with DH and snoring after “making” me walk a considerable distance today. He does a valuable job in our house ...... keeps us fit and keeps us sane. Wouldn’t be without him.

GirlCrush · 17/10/2020 21:04

I'm a new dog owner and have been astounded at our pup's intelligence. He was so concerned today when my dd was upset over something.

our dog is a labrador. love him to bits!

Bigfatpicnic · 17/10/2020 21:05

Our dog is the self appointed mental health worker in our house. He just ‘knows’ who needs some dog company for whatever reason. He also seems to know he makes everyone smile and lifts the mood just by his presence.

JacobReesMogadishu · 17/10/2020 21:08

My dog isn’t intelligent. Yesterday she thought I was being attacked by a jumper I’d got draped over my arm and charged at me growling and snarling which is very unusual. Then hid under the table growling and i realised she thought the jumper was a monster. Sweet that she kind of tried to scare it off before hiding. 😆

Sorry to hear about your current situation Flowers

Dogs rule.

A while back I was experiencing agonising pain from a slipped disc and muscle spasms that woke me and I couldn't stop the scream/spasm/pain cycle... I genuinely thought I might die, and then hoped I would to stop the horror...

DD4 and DD2 helped me, DD4 threw his hefty self on top of me, paws around my neck, head in my shoulder so I could hug him and just squished me with his weight and DD2 finding no room to do that, stuck his head on the other side of my neck and leaned on me, and their combined pressure plus something to put my arms around, helped me to relax and the spasms eased up and I could breath and stop panicking and screaming.

We will gloss over that DD1 and DD3 basically hid and froze, because so did DP.

LockdownLump · 17/10/2020 21:10

Much loved pooch in the house here. You ask her for a cuddle and she comes and puts a paw on each shoulder and her head on your chest.

If your feeling down, she will give you a cuddle anyway without asking for one.

She gets on my nerves sometimes, barking at the postman and delivery men and sometimes it's intense now I'm working from home, but we wouldn't swap her for the world 😍😍

Dogs are incredible, mine filled a hole in my heart I didn't even know was there. She makes me smile every day, and life is so much better with her in it. She's so gentle and so comforting if I'm upset. We don't deserve them.

My old boy died 4 weeks ago, he was 16 and a gent to the end. Loved his fuzzy face and his unconditional love which was returned completely. We had fun together and kept each other fit and happy. He was so clever and knew what I was going to do before I did. 😆❤️

PrimitiveHeart · 17/10/2020 21:17

I feel sorry for the 24% who have never known the love of a beautiful dog Smile

Yes, they’re amazing animals - I can never understand people who are so anti.

Never mind the wonderful companionship - guide dogs, hearing dogs, assistance dogs, sheep dogs, police dogs, sniffer dogs - I dare say there are some I’ve forgotten.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/10/2020 21:20

My two are amazing

They're just so bloody funny

SimonJT · 17/10/2020 21:20

They’re lovely, ours is only a puppy but he is a fantastic little furball, even when he was in biting puppy phase he was much gentler with my son than he was with us. He favours my boyfriend though, traitor.

They’re so clever, we are having a go at training him to use some voice command buttons.

ulanbatorismynextstop · 17/10/2020 21:21

They are full of love, they bring so much love to a home, I totally agree c

WWYD2020 · 17/10/2020 21:21

Sorry to hear of what’s happening, I hope the next test brings good news.

Deffo NBU.

My rottweiler whom I’ve had from the age of 5 weeks (now ten years old) was in the house whilst I was labouring our DC. He was worried and the look of concern as he followed me around sniffing me at each contraction.

He kept looking at my partner and putting his paw on him/me. I took lots of photos I’ll treasure forever because he probably won’t be around for much longer.

oopsiedaisy2 · 17/10/2020 21:24

I love our dog so much. He's naughty and eats everything but I adore him

PrimitiveHeart · 17/10/2020 21:24

DD now sat with her head and paw on my leg. DH and I can't get over how she is behaving, she has only just turned one, and I haven't cried in front of her before, she's always been a very loving girl but she is showing so much concern, it's just so heartwarming. Thanks for all your lovely posts, they have really cheered me up Star
