Dogs are amazing

DH and I sitting having a tearful heart to heart about infertility and what will we do if his sperm count is still low on the next test. Darling Dog (now DD) jumps up on the sofa and puts her paw on my arm, in an obvious attempt to soothe me, DH and I were so taken aback by her sweetness that it totally took us out of ourselves and made us laugh, it really was the loveliest moment and she was obviously concerned about me. She looked SO worried.

Dogs get a hard time on here, but the concern DD had on her face was just incredible and has made a v sad me feel a whole lot better. She is a little sweetheart. Dogs are amazing.

Mine is a little routine bound creature of doggy habit. I don’t have my daughter today (first time in ages) so wanted a lovely long walk. But it’s Saturday morning and Ddog and I do the woods on Saturday morning. He knows the day and refused to try any alternative walk. Saturday morning means we go to the woods. So we had to do 2 walks. Woods first so he was happy then a second longer fields and rivers walk which he also loved. Foolish animal!

Amazing.

I've told this story before but seems right tonight.

We got puppy for dh, she chose me.

Many miscarriages and losses. Came home from hospital in bits having had a missed miscarriage on one particular occasion.

Was to go back to hospital on the Monday.

Saturday night she was in kitchen and it started. I went to the main bathroom at the far end of the house. Dh was asleep. I've never heard a noise like it, she was throwing herself at the bathroom door screaming. I opened the door thinking she maybe needed outside and she ran in and lay by my feet. That little dog lay there beside me on the bathroom floor all night. She is my best friend and I love her.

Dogs are simply amazing!

After I’d had my 6th mc I could barely get out of bed. I was scared every time I went to the loo because of the blood loss. My little dog did nothing but lay next to the bed and follow me to the bathroom for 3 days. He didn’t take his eyes off me for a second. He made me feel not so alone.

My old man lost a eye in a accident and sadly the op caused blindness in his remaining eye so he’s completely blind now BUT the day I brought my long a awaited baby home he just “knew” that this thing in the house was something special and has camped by my ds side for the last two years. He can’t see a thing but you’d never know how he follows that little boy round.
I apparently rescued him but really it was the other way round Grin

They are definitely incredible, so are cats.

I can't/won't have either here as it's right on a lethal road. But previous pets have hit me through all kinds of life events.

Best of luck with having a baby xx

wishingwomen · 17/10/2020 21:40

My dogs drive me MENTAL but they are the most loving babies and I would never be without them! Even thinking about them not being around forever makes me tear up!!
It's so lovely isn't it they just have a feeling mine are the same if I'm upset they are cuddling me or around me
Sorry to hear about your worries praying everything is ok for you Thanks

ChickensMightFly · 17/10/2020 21:41

I'm in tears, all these much loved wonderful furry friends, anyone who has felt that bond has known true love. I've been lucky enough to have had 2 life changing friends. Their paw prints will be in my heart forever. ❤️🐾🐾❤️

Shannith · 17/10/2020 21:41

They just know don't they. Same with cats and horses. Even my dickhead of a horse will sometime just stand and cuddle and wiffle my hair. Just breathing in time makes everything that little bit better

I'm so sorry you are having a tough time DD sounds wonderful.

I've always been a cat person (and will always have a cat) We got our dog because my ds2 ..and adult with autism.. wanted one so badly.
I thought I'd probably enjoy her once we got past the puppy stage.

On the day we picked her up, we got in the car and I sat with my hand inside the little soft crate to soothe her and felt the most ridiculous rush of love for the little creature beside me. Totally unexpected! She has changed our lives.. her absolute unconditional love for us all is the best thing ever.

I hope your next test brings good news for you.x

They are so clever and kind and loving....and so happy to see you when you come home.
We have a lovely pic of our (sadly now late) girl sitting on a chair looking mournfully out of the front window looking for DS2 after he'd left for uni.
'When's he coming back, Mum?'

Good luck, OP.

Staffy1 · 17/10/2020 22:04

They are! I came home drunk many years ago and was trying to pull a stiff kitchen door closed to lock it. The door handle came off and I landed on my bum on the floor and sat with my head in my moaning and feeling very sorry for myself. This soon turned to laughter when a dog nose poked through my hands and I looked up to see a very concerned dog peering at me and gently wagging her tail. They are so sweet.

YABVVU to start a dog thread without a photo!

I’m very for what you’re going through (have been down the IVF route myself). Dogs are just incredible - the amount they add to a home is indescribable. I love my dog to bits.

Dogs just know, and they just want to help.

I'd love to show you my lovely little girl (DD) but it's such a personal post I think I will just have to describe her... a little ginger bundle of utter gorgeousness. She has a brother too and he is just the sweetest little thing.. if a little oblivious to our emotions !

My little bundle of fluff is on holiday without me. I have a couple of heavy weeks at work so she’s away having cuddles, walks and play. It’s the longest we’ve been apart and the house is so empty.

I thought it would be nice to have the sofa to myself for a change. It’s not!

KeepOnKeepingOnKeepingOn · 17/10/2020 22:32

@ChickensMightFly I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks they really do break your heart, and life seems so empty without them. Sounds like he had a happy, full life with you.

During lockdown I'd have been lost without mine, he really is my best friend. Sad but true. If only he knew how precious he is to me!
