Dominic West, would you forgive after a public affair

Seeing DW and his wife in the paper today got me thinking, would you have stood by your man so to speak? I think I would have forgave an affair, one affair, if the offender wanted to remain wholeheartedly in the marriage. I don't think I could forgive being paraded like poor DW's wife. I know I don't know the whole story it may be all very innocent, I don't know either of them obviously but I do feel for the women in the story.

Forgive? No. Stay out of fear of spiteful actions in the event of divorce? Yes.

I understand they live in the family seat, which she stands to be forced to sell in a divorce.

@WorraLiberty the photos in the paper were of a "parading" nature, look how happy we are, it seemed very uneasy on her part though. I'm sure she is a woman of her own mind but I wish she had told him to face the press on his own.

@carbhunter I hope that's the case and they have a fantastic open marriage and are happy with it. Didn't strike me that she was on board as he was in today's papers.

Maybe they have an open relationship but I'm sure kissing his girlfriend in public and making a fool of his wife isn't part of the deal. I think the public humiliation from everybody knowing is far worse than an affair.

I wouldn't care about a very discreet one night stand while away on business but I wouldn't forgive anything that made me look like a mug in front of neighbours, family and friends. That's unforgiveable.

The photos with his wife are cringey but maybe she posed for them to reassure her children that their family is solid. They must be worried that their family is going to break up and feeling very insecure as a result. That instability can be terrifying for a child.

He is such an arse for putting his family in that position.

My God. How humiliating.

I don’t think I could. The betrayal alone would be too much - the trust would be shattered. But also I would feel humiliated that people knew and felt pity for me.
Although I suppose it’s hard to say what you would do if you haven’t experienced something like that.

She's had no time to process anything. Her mind must be mashed. She's getting a double whammy of public humiliation, it's awful to see.

I think the spectacle in the papers today - DW and his wife kissing in front of photographers - was grotesque and undignified. It comes across purely as a display of male power - a stout slimy middle aged man showing that he can get away with treating women any shitty way he pleases and they still grovel around him puckering up for kisses.

I don’t believe in criticising a person for not having self respect - when you don’t have self respect it is because you have been treated badly. That display today was a flagrant example of a man exploiting a woman’s lack of self respect to show off how he can get away scot free with appalling behaviour. It was degrading. Showed him as utterly vile. What’s he done to this poor woman that she lets him treat her like that? She should get a dog instead.

What an example to their poor children.
