This appears to be drip feeding into our consciousness. Who or what is behind it and where will it lead us?
It's not a UK thing, either, bit like Build Back Better repeated in multiple countries word for word.

@DilemmaDerby

cbt944 those laws were passed a couple of weeks ago in the UK, with nary a comment in the media. And they are for you and me and everyone, not just those breaching the law or being a “Superspreader”.
Last I checked, the UK was not in Australia.

@DilemmaDerby

Why does any questioning of anything turn into tinfoil accusations?

It is a fact that there has a long term drive towards cashless society, or hourglass money. That the WE Forum is suggesting we use this to restructure. That the UN will use this to obtain SDGs.

The latter in itself isn’t on the surface a bad thing, we are well overdue positive change. But actually as you work closer with them there is a worry that they will be driven at the detriment to common sense. SDGs for example driving only plant based, which basically would starve many countries and impoverish many independent usually matriarchal farmers.

Cashless society isn’t a good thing, the world sadly runs on a bit of a black market, not everything should be tracked. Do you think it’s for our own good?

And as for the fact social currency is a thing in China and we are entering a technocracy where data is power. You don’t need to be a “theorist” to be wary.

@DilemmaDerby I agree. It makes us people of Mumsnet, on a whole, look so simple minded.

I'm not sure why the op is being mocked. I'm quite concerned about this too. I do understand there are environmental issues but lockdown seems to be achieving two goals.

The pause during lockdown created by the pandemic will result in a 7% decrease in global emissions in 2020. The UN states that we need a decrease of 7.6% every year until 2030 to avoid climate and ecological disaster. This means we need to maintain the same decrease every year as if we were living in lockdown

Which is funnily enough why I added the words “in the UK” CBT.

But thanks for the geography lesson Grin

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 08:17

@cbt944 This came into law 10th Feb 2020. Look it up, on gov.uk there's lots more in there. Screenshot for you.

DD, Treesofwood, whoever else, re the above: How can I put this nicely? I don't give a shit. Can you not grasp the difference between Australia and the UK. I was responding to assertions about laws allegedly in place in Australia, not the UK.
DilemmaDerby · 13/10/2020 08:30

You might want to work on your definition of nicely.

Anyway rather than get all ridiculous and derail. I think the point was draconian powers. Not ok, risk to civil liberties, extraordinary times and while I don’t think the whole thing was planned I do have some serious concerns about what it will be used to hide.

FallonsTeaRoom · 13/10/2020 08:31

There was a 3-week reset on Facebook the other week, that was to stop sugar cravings and start to healthily lose weight. Is that what you mean, op? Confused

everythingisginandroses · 13/10/2020 08:34

I was thinking about hiding this thread, but it now has sealion pictures.

Mimishimi · 13/10/2020 08:36

For your health and safety... they're all in this together...

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 08:51

cbt944 so you are concerned about debate in Australia but don't care about laws that actually impact upon you.

OP posts:
Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 08:52

Dilemmaderby I definitely don't think the whole thing was planned. But everyone knew a pandemic would arrive one day.

They don't affect me, darl. But don't let me keep you. I am sure you have a "Ban Face Nappies!!!" and "Wake up, Sheeple!!!!!!!" placard to paint.
Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 09:01

Cbt944 Sorry I thought you were UK based

Informed debate on MN as usual Hmm

Thanks FTM I do despair sometimes

cabotstove · 13/10/2020 09:11

I'm surprised the manager wasn't more PR conscious

cabotstove · 13/10/2020 09:12

sorry wrong thread

BlueRose18 · 13/10/2020 09:12

The “Great Reset” is definitely a thing. Not a conspiracy. It was announced in July by The World Economic Forum. It sounds good from a distance with words “green” and “sustainable” society but when looked more in to it seems just a way for corporations and banks etc can get bail outs and clear debts and basically start again. I think there’s more to it but we’re being “drip fed” as you say. They’re not giving away too much info. Whether it was all planned and they’re using Covid as an excuse, I don’t know or it could just be a coincidence that Covid happened and they see it as a good opportunity. Only time will tell.
It could be a positive thing 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know. You may find more info on their website.
weforum.org or there are videos on YouTube that show when it was announced and what they say about it.

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 09:15

It was the WEF who hosted the pandemic simulation at the end of last year. So they would have known likely responses.

@LaurieFairyCake

Find it impossible to believe that the Tories would get rid of the demographic that vote FOR them Hmm
Yes, how does that work?!
Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 09:16

Bluerose I agree
I can't believe that the WEF wouldn't have already purchased the domain greatreset.com either.

OP posts:
Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 12:43

Abraid I don't think the tories are out to get rid of anyone?
