This appears to be drip feeding into our consciousness. Who or what is behind it and where will it lead us?
It's not a UK thing, either, bit like Build Back Better repeated in multiple countries word for word.

OP posts:

Oooh! A nutter thread. Goodo, I've nothing else on this evening, I'll just park over in the corner with wine & popcorn and let the crazy unfold

DumplingsAndStew · 12/10/2020 21:05

I still have no idea what you are smoking.

trytrytrytrytrytry · 12/10/2020 21:05

There is usually a reset after War, Famine, disease this is true, and people were motivated during the second world war by clever marketing films too. But there was also clever policy making at the time - the farms being used to prevent the nazi blockade from causing a famine for example. We seem to have the marketing ads but not the solid government policies at the moment

• New ideas are needed to catalyze the Great Reset after COVID-19.

• Change can be as simple as adjusting our mindsets.

• Greater connection between leaders and the people, and between people, has the potential to effect the most change.

The World Economic Forum’s Great Reset initiative seeks new ideas in order to use this unique moment in history provided by the disruption to economics, politics and our everyday life to catalyze a new approach to how our societies are run

ConfusedcomMum · 12/10/2020 21:06

Eh? Confused

notdaddycool · 12/10/2020 21:06

It does concern me that whilst the headline of Black Lives Matters is laudable and necessary that they and extinction rebellion are/have been taken over by the far left who are linking achieving their goals to the global overthrow of capitalism. Capitalism has brought billions out of poverty. It can be rough around the edges but it's by far the best model we have and the aims of both groups can be removed from political idelogy.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 12/10/2020 21:07

I thought this was about the National Trust. Their redundancy consultation is called “reset”.

Maybe there’s something in it!

Competent, humane governments would be my contribution

yetanothernamitynamechange · 12/10/2020 21:12

I actually should admit that, in a sinister plot discovered by my incredibly clever ex, the whole covid-10 thing was concocted be me as part of fiendishly convoluted plan to make his life a little but more difficult. The millions infected and all of the deaths were just unfortunate colateral damage in the master plan, whose main objectives were:

  1. To force him to have to homeschool our child during the time schools were closed and on the infrequent days he had him. Thus causing him considerable annoyance.
  2. His sports club closed. Mwah hah hah hah.
3.When I was atually unwell with suspected covid (all part of the plan) he would have had to look after our daughter the whole 14 days. The horror! Fortunately he cleverly outsmarted me by dropping our child on my doorstep and driving away quick-smart
  1. Me bothering him with "my nonsense" generally.

So yeah, sorry everyone!

NRatched · 12/10/2020 21:14

@ripples101

If anyone would have said this time last year (October 2019) that a virus would come along in 2020, which is incredibly contagious but one that the vast majority would overcome, but those in power would lockdown, close all business, education, work, and social life, stop us from seeing friends and family, then a few months later open up, encourage us all to go out, spend, and then blame us for going out and spending, causing us to go into restrictions again, while hospitals would be built but never manned, to protect us but never protect us, while jobs were lost and peopled died and the debt of every country exploded, and citizens would turn on each other, and blame each other and governments, while laws would be put through limiting freedom, and in some cases (Victoria, Australia for example) allow people to be arrested and detained indefinitely for being a potential suspect (think about that) that may go against regulations, all done under the guise of protecting all of us...

Then I would have said, in October 2019, that you were batshit crazy.

LOL, when you put it all togeter like that.. Grin

But yeah, this great reset thing, I cannot make sense of from links really. Mainly as I am not watching any videos. This is actually the first I have heard of it though, the conspiracy theories I see seem to be along the (ridiculous) 5g is spreading it!!! line. So would have been nice for OP to explain somewhat..

Plussizejumpsuit · 12/10/2020 21:35

@Oysterbabe

MNHQ should delete threads where the OP doesn't clearly explain in the opening post what the fuck they are on about. I don't want to read links, I want a concise explanation of what the great reset is.
Lolz! Yep
Kljnmw3459 · 12/10/2020 21:38

The Great Reset is a great way to ensure that enough people get worried about what they've heard from various internet resources and start fighting for things to not change......

MsStillwell · 12/10/2020 21:49

It is certainly true in the animal world that when a population increased there will often be something which appears to reduce it, like Mitsimatosis in rabbits.

There are so many errors in this that I don't know where to start.

artisticpiles · 12/10/2020 21:54

Well we certainly do need to do something about climate change, but I'm not sure that dumping millions of tonnes of non-biodegradable PPE waste or sending billions of gallons of antibacterial chemicals into the water is the right way to go about it.

romeolovedjulliet · 12/10/2020 21:55

is this refering to the world economic forum in 2021 ?

romeolovedjulliet · 12/10/2020 21:57

sorry misread thought we were still on page 1 and mine was the 2nd reply Blush

Aquarius15 · 12/10/2020 22:00

@DeliciouslyFemale
So true, brilliant Grin

DynamoKev · 12/10/2020 22:08

Is this another Copy and paste from Facebastard? Cos if it is, MN will delete it.

Kaiserin · 12/10/2020 22:09

Dunno about a great reset...

... I think some people are certainely opportunistically trying to capitalise on the pandemic, to further their own agenda, in a "make the most of a bad thing" sort of way (heck, I know I am: enjoying work from home very much, and planning to keep it that way!)
So, yeah, politicians and other organisations are definitely trying to (not very subtly) push various messages (such as "Green Revolution", etc.) at the moment (since the status quo is changing, might as well try to redefine the "new normal" to your own taste?)
But that's no global conspiracy, just people doing what people always do...?

viques · 12/10/2020 22:09

Does this mean that if I win the lottery tomorrow it will be worthless in a couple of weeks time? Oh fuck.

CoffeeandCroissant · 12/10/2020 22:20

OP has a history of sealioning, which is exactly what they are doing here.

DilemmaDerby · 12/10/2020 22:35

Why does any questioning of anything turn into tinfoil accusations?

It is a fact that there has a long term drive towards cashless society, or hourglass money. That the WE Forum is suggesting we use this to restructure. That the UN will use this to obtain SDGs.

The latter in itself isn’t on the surface a bad thing, we are well overdue positive change. But actually as you work closer with them there is a worry that they will be driven at the detriment to common sense. SDGs for example driving only plant based, which basically would starve many countries and impoverish many independent usually matriarchal farmers.

Cashless society isn’t a good thing, the world sadly runs on a bit of a black market, not everything should be tracked. Do you think it’s for our own good?

And as for the fact social currency is a thing in China and we are entering a technocracy where data is power. You don’t need to be a “theorist” to be wary.

Iheardarumour · 12/10/2020 22:47

"@yetanothernamitynamechange

As a side note, is George Soros involved in this at all. I imagine he probably is, the scamp."

The man I live with believes this bollocks and a lot more besides.

For the sake of my sanity, I glaze over and my mind wanders off to my happy place.

Dinosaurpooped · 12/10/2020 22:47

Can you please call it ‘The Great British Reset’ to make it sound a bit more palatable.
Maybe the advertising campaign could include a good old cup of tea and a slice of Vicky sponge 🍰
