AIBU to be very wary of the "Great Reset"

This appears to be drip feeding into our consciousness. Who or what is behind it and where will it lead us?
It's not a UK thing, either, bit like Build Back Better repeated in multiple countries word for word.

Not sealioning Coffeeandcroissants. I am not sure about the Great Reset. What it's really all about, what's true, what's not. That's why I asked the question. It was the radio advert today that really made me wonder and look into it more. Also. Interested how it fits into the whole EU side of things.

Dinosaurpooped You joke, but I wouldn't be remotely surprised to see BJ standing with that as his new slogan splashed up behind him. He might drop the "the" though to make it three words.

If whatever it is does ever happen it's not likely to be as good thing for ordinary people. Extremely rich and powerful people are hardly likely to organise/e toll the virtues of something the decreases their wealth or power, which any kind of real reset would have to.

yetanothernamitynamechange · 12/10/2020 23:11

@Iheardarumor my comiserations. Mine was a bit like that but I left him (for unrelated reasons). You will be interested to know that according to him this was all the doing of something known as "mumsnet" a sinister internet thing that brainwashes happy women into believing they are unhappy and into breaking up with their hapless, innocent partners. That and I was a lesbian (which was news to me).

everythingisginandroses · 12/10/2020 23:36

Whenever I hear of 'sealioning' I think of the footage one can find online of sealions piling onto the decks of yachts until they sink. A sealion party, complete with sex and vomiting, and when the yacht sinks they just swim away. It is fucking hilarious.

OP its marketing FFS. The world is awash with it.

If it is a sinister conspiracy its hiding in very plain sight and has a decent advertising budget...

cbt944 · 12/10/2020 23:59

Oh, it's you. It's always you. Always just 'wondering'. Hmm

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 00:00

Have you thought of doing a bit of namechanging OP, then I wouldn’t get that “deja vu” feeling every time you post some new craziness....

Elsewyre · 13/10/2020 04:20

I think the current state of the world disproves the idea that level or global organisation is impossible in the open let alone in secret.

Runningdownthathill · 13/10/2020 05:09

@ripples101

If anyone would have said this time last year (October 2019) that a virus would come along in 2020, which is incredibly contagious but one that the vast majority would overcome, but those in power would lockdown, close all business, education, work, and social life, stop us from seeing friends and family, then a few months later open up, encourage us all to go out, spend, and then blame us for going out and spending, causing us to go into restrictions again, while hospitals would be built but never manned, to protect us but never protect us, while jobs were lost and peopled died and the debt of every country exploded, and citizens would turn on each other, and blame each other and governments, while laws would be put through limiting freedom, and in some cases (Victoria, Australia for example) allow people to be arrested and detained indefinitely for being a potential suspect (think about that) that may go against regulations, all done under the guise of protecting all of us...

Then I would have said, in October 2019, that you were batshit crazy.

Very well summarised.
cbt944 · 13/10/2020 05:18

and in some cases (Victoria, Australia for example) allow people to be arrested and detained indefinitely for being a potential suspect (think about that)

You have a problem with laws that will enable a government to detain terror suspects?! I think you might be confused. There has been debate about the bringing in of laws to detain high-risk spreaders of Covid, repeat offenders who have already been issued with multiple fines for breaching orders, etc, but as far as I know no laws have been passed.

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 06:23

Cbt944 I don't think PP is referring to terror suspects. There were a number of people arrested in Australia for speaking out against the restrictions, including a pregnant woman.
The laws are there by the way. It includes PHOs being able to detain children I think, they just haven't been used.

OP posts:
Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 06:35

Cbt944 The act brought in in Feb covers the situation you mention above.
"The Secretary of State or, as the case may be, registered public health consultant must notify
P (or, where P is a child, a person who is a responsible adult in relation to P), as soon as P’s detention
under regulation 4 or 5 starts, or as soon as it is decided to keep P in isolation under regulation 8, of─
(a) the fact of P’s detention or isolation;
(b) the powers under which P is detained or kept in isolation;
(c) the reason for P’s detention or isolation;
(d) the next steps that may be taken and by whom;"
But I don't think the Great Reset is about detaining people by the way.

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 06:37

Look up Health Protection (coronavirus) regulations Feb 2020

OP posts:
cbt944 · 13/10/2020 06:51

Yeah, no.

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 06:55

Do you think I'm making it up?

OP posts:
echt · 13/10/2020 07:02

Do you think I'm making it up?

Why make a thread about some shite information you can google for yourself, OP?

Oh, hang on.......:o

Treesofwood · 13/10/2020 07:13

I did not make up a thread about the Health Protection Regulations? Someone else brought that up.
The Great Reset is not clear if you Google it. Some of it is all WEF focused, with a book published in June, called the Great Reset, then there's this ad campaign which appears on the face of it to have nothing to do with WEF. And arisen from an idea in a pub to halt climate change and maintain reduced emissions. I can't believe there is no link. And the government alude to it too. I just wanted to explore it, and I like to explore it with different people, not just in an echo chamber where everyone agrees with me.

OP posts:
DilemmaDerby · 13/10/2020 07:29

cbt944 those laws were passed a couple of weeks ago in the UK, with nary a comment in the media. And they are for you and me and everyone, not just those breaching the law or being a “Superspreader”.

AIBU to be very wary of the "Great Reset"
DilemmaDerby · 13/10/2020 07:30

If you read the legislation they can also take away kids.

Wether it will ever be used is another question.

ramblingsonthego · 13/10/2020 07:34

The Great Reset has been around at the WEF since about 2017. This then gives conspiracy theorists more power to their "plandemic" bullshit that it was all planned for them to have their reset blah blah blah.

The WEF have been really shit at hiding their great reset plans, they have been advertising them globally since 2017. Sigh.

With my work, I follow the WEF closely, their is no conspiracy theory to the great reset. It is mainly to do with climate change and sustainability.
