This appears to be drip feeding into our consciousness. Who or what is behind it and where will it lead us?
It's not a UK thing, either, bit like Build Back Better repeated in multiple countries word for word.

DumplingsAndStew · 12/10/2020 20:16

What is it and where are you hearing about it?

Can't say it's dripped into my consciousness.

everythingisginandroses · 12/10/2020 20:22

Does it involve donning a turquoise tracksuit?

Witchend · 12/10/2020 20:22

I tried the great reset today on the one drive at work.
I can tell you it didn't work.
Not only did it fail to reset, but it reloaded every single blinking file with a (1) after it.
Then it proceeded to delete all the new files I'd uploaded today.

It was not fun.

Thankfully before I tried "The Great Reset", I'd downloaded all that mattered onto a USB stick.
That has turned out to be very important.

I thus rename "The Great Reset" to "The nearly huge disaster saved by a USB".

My conspiracy theory, ff there is a conspiracy...
Many large coorporations, even some global organisations will using the language of sustainability and fairness in order to make vague pledges that make them look good. Then they will enact a few watered down policies by way of greenwashing etc while in reality they continue pursuing profits as before.
But thats obvious, and nothing new and therefore doesn't give me a delightful smug feeling of being one of the enlightened few who know what the "sheeple" choose to ignore.
So on that basis its a pretty rubbish theory. As you were.

MyPersona · 12/10/2020 20:30

YABVVU to continuously drip feed this utter shite that’s a dead cert. HTH

AnnaFour · 12/10/2020 20:33

If you could explain what it is you are actually wary about that would be helpful OP.

Basically environmental issues are caused by big business who refuse to change and by the governments which are controlled by big business - ie those with power via wealth. The same powerhouses control the use of energy, food production ie everything humans need. There are in fact sufficient resources and tech know how for every living person to live well on earth. But many millions do not. Because of how the powerhouses control things.

And it is the same powerhouses behind the call now for a great reset, using various buzzwords such as stakeholders, sustainability, fairness

If these chaps really wanted stakeholders sustainability fairness they would be doing things completely differently now. The same powerhouses have mooted the idea of one world government - this has been reported endlessly in spreadsheet newspapers and so is mainstream news not conspiracy theorist news. They seem to going for the idea now with a vengeance, with buzzwords galore.

Why? I don't know but I would imagine it is almost certainly going to end with those with unimaginable wealth already having more wealth ... as the wealthy families concerned have amassed increasing amounts of wealth over the generations, and they and the new rich show little sign of giving it all away to save the planet/increase sustainability stakeholder fairness gobshite....doubt it would end with a fairer world.

I think that the way many people educated themselves abut the virus and pulled together is being manipulated by them to try to get everyone to buy into stakeholder sustainability fairness gobshite, tbh.

So a crock, perchance

Tangledtresses · 12/10/2020 20:37

Oh not this again.

OP - please can you explain what power the World Economic Forum has to enforce any sort of change, good or bad, upon the whole world? Ta. (You might want to look up the meaning of NGO).

everythingisginandroses · 12/10/2020 20:41

@Tangledtresses - ah, I understand now. I had to do a factory reset on my phone because it stopped ringing (kind of important feature of a phone, I think) and it was well annoying.

bibbitybobbitycats · 12/10/2020 20:42

@Treesofwood

It seems to be very driven by Klaus Schwab.
And your point is?

Global power, and a totalitarian regime in the name of reversing climate change?

@everythingisginandroses it's soooooo annoying I had to do it 3 times last week! I think it maybe the govt listening in on my boring rants calls to the teen about not doing his homework or possibly that I dropped my ancient phone twice? Are they listening? Cos tte teen certainly isn't 😂😂

dangerrabbit · 12/10/2020 20:50

@ripples101

If anyone would have said this time last year (October 2019) that a virus would come along in 2020, which is incredibly contagious but one that the vast majority would overcome, but those in power would lockdown, close all business, education, work, and social life, stop us from seeing friends and family, then a few months later open up, encourage us all to go out, spend, and then blame us for going out and spending, causing us to go into restrictions again, while hospitals would be built but never manned, to protect us but never protect us, while jobs were lost and peopled died and the debt of every country exploded, and citizens would turn on each other, and blame each other and governments, while laws would be put through limiting freedom, and in some cases (Victoria, Australia for example) allow people to be arrested and detained indefinitely for being a potential suspect (think about that) that may go against regulations, all done under the guise of protecting all of us...

Then I would have said, in October 2019, that you were batshit crazy.

Facts.

Trytrytrytrytrytry Global power, and a totalitarian regime in the name of reversing climate change?
Nononononono

You know, on a day when lots of people are about to go into new lockdowns, scared and worried about what the next few weeks will bring, drip feeding this sort of rubbish is a really low move. Do fuck off with your bullshit. Bye now x

Treesofwood · 12/10/2020 20:51

This is what the advert I heard is for. Its on bus stops etc too.

OP posts:
yetanothernamitynamechange · 12/10/2020 21:00

Anyone who has actually worked for an international organisation, or any sort of large company actually, would know how unlikely them managing to both come up with and then carry such a complex conspiracy with such efficiency is.

ChristmasCantComeSoonEnough · 12/10/2020 21:01

It is certainly true in the animal world that when a population increased there will often be something which appears to reduce it, like Mitsimatosis in rabbits.

Devlesko · 12/10/2020 21:01

Those going on about conspiracies are worse than the conspiracy theorists.
Wtf are you scared of that you have to shout it at every opportunity.

There is usually a reset after War, Famine, disease. No theories needed.
And companies that can't change will fall. It's not rocket science nor akin to landing on the moon or not Grin

trytrytrytrytrytry · 12/10/2020 21:02

The ad looks like clever marketing.

But things aren't going to change until big business and government policies change.

Like a pp has said, the world is about to go into lockdown again and people are suffering, seems an insensitive time for these glossy clever ads to be out, does seem a bit manipulative, maybe.

Who knows...

yetanothernamitynamechange · 12/10/2020 21:02

As a side note, is George Soros involved in this at all. I imagine he probably is, the scamp.

Witchend · 12/10/2020 21:03

Boris put things on Buses.

I think, but am not sure, that he has at least learnt that putting things on buses doesn't make it true.
