to think you only buy a LV handbag to show off how wealthy you are?

I'm not disputing their quality, as having watched a lot of construction videos they do seem reasonably well-made, but the monogrammed "leather" is just so ugly.

A bog-standard tote will set you back £1200 - handmade bags made by lesser known brands/designers in full-grain, veg tan leather would cost less and be far more attractive. (And higher quality too)

Seeing as we wear things to make a statement about ourselves (for the most part) and considering the bags aren't aesthetically pleasing, the statement, in this case, must be "look how much money I have"?

I don't understand the 'influencer' comment either. It makes no sense. 🤷‍♀️

It's not a put down to observe that most people won't notice or care where their friends buy their children's clothes from. My friends post lots of photos of their children doing things and unless I've seen the same items whilst shopping for DC then I'd not be able to tell you whether their clothes are H&M, M&S, Primark, Tesco, Boden, or Joules. All I'd notice is their children look nice.

If I saw a piece I really liked I might message and ask where it's from but otherwise it's not something I'd think about. I'd imagine my friends are similar.

Then again, my friends tend not to do the staged social media posts about what they've bought so they'd not be offended

To be honest, most people wouldn't be able to tell where their friends buy their children's clothes so there's no need to anyone uploading normal photos to be worrying.

Janegrey333 · 22/10/2020 10:34

People seriously referring to an item of clothing g as “a piece” is quite amusing.

Janegrey333 · 22/10/2020 10:34

Excuse the random g.

knickybricks · 22/10/2020 11:36

"piece" and "item" are merely different counters used with clothing. Watch out for "article" too - but that might tip you over the edge and have you rocking in a corner!😂

Janegrey333 · 22/10/2020 11:51

The term “piece” is what those who believe they are “fashionistas” use. Imagine buying a “piece” from Joules...

FabbyChix · 22/10/2020 12:13

Pretty abhorrent when it costs the same to house a homeless person and get them off the streets.

Sexnotgender · 22/10/2020 12:18

Wow, you’re a proper cunt aren’t you😂

I’ve got a few designer bags so I deserve to be ghosted by my best friend Confused who pissed in your cornflakes?

Lovely. Confused

Hate to disappoint you but I am far away from an aspiring fashionista, unless leggings, bobbly dog walking hoodies and waterproofs are in fashion 😂

This feels a bit like one of those moment where someone says 'mom' on a thread and half a dozen posters decide the person must be American because nobody says 'mom' in the UK. The fact different words and phrases exist must seriously blow some people's minds.

Janegrey333 · 22/10/2020 12:57

It’s a relatively modern way of expressing “garment” although not everyone adopts it. It’s ludicrous. A vintage Jean Muir garment might be a piece, though.

happyfeet245 · 22/10/2020 13:00

To me they are incredibly tacky, give me a mulberry over LV any day.

See I'm the total opposite. I find Mulberry bags so dull.
ihate2020 · 22/10/2020 13:33

Nah I have two and I'm skint Blush

How is it ludicrous?

The quality of LV over Mulberry is far superior tacky or not.

Yeh they are nice but not wow.
RiseOwl · 22/10/2020 17:09

I quoted the wrong post! I meant Mulberry. Nice but there are nicer bags.

happilybemused · 22/10/2020 17:31

If I'm honest back in the day I could easily identify Joules and Mini Boden clothing as that is where I would shop.

No doubt someone will soon be along saying they are completely low rent and why on earth was I not buying Gucci for my children.

Shortly afterwards someone will say I am a complete wannabe and say anything other than from NCT preloved is completely pretentious.

This thread is very predictable.

I'd probably only notice something if I'd seen it in a shop, though this thread has me thinking I have one friend who is very into her scandi baby clothes so I could probably guess very bright all in ones/dungarees would be Frugi or Duns.
Unless a shop has a particular style though I'd be lost on all things childrenswear.

I think I'd happily have DC in Polarn o Pyret every day if I could bring myself to spend that much money on children's clothes.

happilybemused · 23/10/2020 03:55

@LolaSmiles waiting for your next predictable vent. Sigh 😔

LolaSmiles · 23/10/2020 07:43

Replying to someone saying that on reflection I probably would notice scandi because my friend likes those makes is a vent?

Seriously? Everything must be oh so dramatic in your world if someone saying they hardly notice childrenswear is a vent Grin

Or maybe not so dramatic when everything's so predictable yet you hang out on a thread in anticipation of more predictability, some people need to make better choices as to how they spend their free time!😂
FeelTheRush · 23/10/2020 14:20

This thread is the gift that keeps on giving!! 😂

So many posters virtue signalling over their Tuscan “artisan” handbags or GPB5 bag from Primark that has lasted 5 years. Do you not realise this is just another kind of snobbery?!!

Janegrey333 · 23/10/2020 14:20

Scandinavian clothes for children can verge on being too tasteful - and more geared to the adults who will buy rather than the children who will wear.
