Misshapencha0s · 08/10/2020 21:32

‘Some of these are obviously universal turn offs, you don’t need to say the bare minimum like ‘poor hygiene, a domestic abuser, encrusted in faeces.’

😂 LOL

TheNewLook · 09/10/2020 01:02

Weird thread. Most of these thing are surely pretty basic in any relationship platonic or otherwise?

“Racist, sexist, homophobes are a turn-off for me.”

“Really? I don’t mind that.”

I assumed the thread would be more “skinny jeans, beards, height, attachment to mother” level of turn-offs.

TheNewLook · 09/10/2020 01:06

Those weird three-quarter length combat trousers you sometimes see men in

Oh god yes!!!! Some men just have no clue how to dress for hot weather.

But the cropped cargo pants thing is horrendous, especially when teamed with little trainers and trainer socks with the tops just visible.

Eew!

I’m squeamish about men in flip-flops too unless they are right next to a swimming pool. Actually anyone in flip-flops. I just think how dirty their feet must be.

dayslikethese1 · 09/10/2020 09:25

Most of these are universal so I was just going to put my personal (possibly unreasonable) ones:
Really posh people
People who are really loud
Fussy eaters
People who drive everywhere
People who are obsessed with work
Nesh people (making a fuss everytime it's a tiny bit cold etc.)
People who don't drink alcohol are go on about it all the time (but conversely also ppl that go on about being drunk or try and get you to drink more than you want to-either way is annoying)

blubberball · 09/10/2020 10:25

Cruelty in any form.

ReallyLazy · 09/10/2020 10:50

Everything
Can't stand the thought of being in a relationship.

As far as a ONS goes, bad hygiene. 🤮

Bouledeneige · 09/10/2020 10:54

Taking racism and sexism and voting for Brexit as givens....

Being tight with money
Rude to waiters
Boring/dim
No sense of humour
Being judgey
Competitive
Being unreliable

And yes, I don't bother with dating anymore either.

Fuckinellitsme · 09/10/2020 11:02

DH has really long nails on his right hand because he's a guitarist. I find it extremely attractive because I love guitarists and he's my favourite one. Not off-putting in the slightest. Quite the opposite.

For me stuff like bigotry, cruelty, not being vegetarian, being the sort of person who proudly says they've never read a book, owns a flashy car/house/jewellery and is all peacocky about it and thinks that those on benefits are scroungers are a much bigger turn off.

formerbabe · 09/10/2020 11:26

Funny how we're all so different isn't it. I'd put guitar playing on my list of turn offs...even worse if he gets it out and starts playing at a party...

Chanjer · 09/10/2020 12:03

Evangelists (either sex)
Plump (men)

justilou1 · 09/10/2020 12:08

Bigotry, Pettiness, Invalidation of feelings and opinions, People who tell you that you have no sense of humour when they have actually just said something offensive. People who say “No offense but....” and then say something highly offensive, like that makes it okay.

Wheelyyyy · 10/10/2020 17:23

Vindictiveness

StripeyandConfused · 10/10/2020 20:04

This is why I cant do relationships. The disappointment is too much

RedDiamond · 10/10/2020 20:10

GROPERS.

Fuck off mate, you are just trying to mark me as yours to the audience around us. Urgh! I HATE being groped in public. That's us finished.

PunkrockerGirl59 · 10/10/2020 20:21

People who insult/deny another's faith

Saggyoldsofa · 10/10/2020 20:30

Oh yes gropers. Absolutely bang on. Horrible.

Anyone who plays the harmonica and thinks it sounds good.

Anyone who describes themselves as any form of artist. Unless they are actually an artist of some form and it earns enough money to keep body and soul together.

Unclipped toenails.

Men who have a porny attitude to sex and anyone who calls me 'baby' or refers to themself as 'daddy' when talking dirty.

Anyone who strums 3 chords on the guitar and even worse, does it at a party.

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 10/10/2020 20:34

Literally all of the above, except I’m ok with middle class, jeans and emojis.

Otherwise I’d be a hypocrite Grin

incenseandpeppermints · 10/10/2020 20:37

Gammon

Leaannb · 10/10/2020 20:47

@imissthesouth

A lot of people have said a man not being able to drive would be a turn off. Would you think the same for a women? I can't drive (yet, still learning) but i've never had anyone tell me it's an issue. Yet I often hear most my friends (even none drivers) say they wouldn't date a man who cannot drive.
Honestly, I wouldn't be friends with someone who couldn't drive when its not due to medical reasons..I don't have time for that
Skysblue · 10/10/2020 21:26

Sitting around while I cook and clean up, then being puzzled that I’m not in the mood for sex.

Want to make me horny? Do the sodding washing up and do the laundry too while you’re at it. Nothing is as sexy as feeling taken care of. Except Chris Hemsworth.

MountainMert · 10/10/2020 21:31

Bad teeth, whiney, low testosterone levels, skinny.

MountainMert · 10/10/2020 21:33

@Leaannb I would imagine you don't know everyone's medical conditions. I couldn't drive for years because of epilepsy but didn't tell the vast majority of people that. Firstly, it's private and none of your business. Secondly, people are really ignorant around epilepsy (a lot of people think it's made up, a lot of people think you're psychic, a lot of people think it's a mental illness that you should "just get over", a lot of people think you're faking it etc).

I've been a highly qualified Nurse for 25 years I know and understand the disqualifiers for driver's license. I don't have time or patience for people who refuse to learn to drive. In my experience they are users and their refusal to drive puts the onus of a relationship on me. I will not associate with them

StillCoughingandLaughing · 11/10/2020 08:46

I’m more glad than ever that I don’t drive.

pilates · 11/10/2020 08:55

Bad personal hygiene, in particular plaquey teeth
Laziness
Grown men that are gamers
Arrogance
