MidnightFlit · 08/10/2020 08:48

I was once having a very pleasant flirty chat with an attractive, intelligent bloke until I mentioned I was in the process of getting a rescue dog. He looked baffled, and said, 'But why? They cost an absolute fortune to feed and insure - it's literally thousands a year down the drain.'

He didn't get my number.

lovellost · 08/10/2020 08:52

Immaturity and lack of sophistication
Lack of humour
Right wing leanings
Rudeness to people in customer/public facing roles

Hipster beards and tattoos.
Preoccupation with appearance, particularly when appearance not all that.
Unhealthy appearance.
No interest in participating in sport.
Smoking.
Being a regular pub goer (I stopped talking to someone recently when he described his hobby as "going to the pub for a couple of pints, although he didn't usually drink in the house before going out)
Unattractiveness
Big hooked noses
Bad teeth
Bad skin
Chavs
Lack of education
Obsession with cars or motorbikes
Metrosexuals
Talking too quickly
Patronising older men
Scottish men (I live in Scotland, and I really have had enough of the arrogant, overweight men here whose only topic of conversation is how great they think they are and who consider themselves stunningly attractive simply because they have 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth)

CounsellorTroi · 08/10/2020 08:54

Oh and dislike of dogs and animals in general

formerbabe · 08/10/2020 09:00

Laziness and not pulling weight around the house
No respect for others beliefs/opinions
Racism

Carpathian2 · 08/10/2020 09:07

All these, but I wouldn't look twice at someone who read the Daily Mail then spouted it's contents as absolute truth.

Yes, I've got an ex who did that 😡

Serin · 08/10/2020 09:11

Only on MN would someone describe "poor grammar" as their biggest turnoff Grin

What? More of a turnoff than say, being a bigot/nazi/racist?

I honestly have no idea what my DH's grammar is like, we tend to communicate verbally rather than in writing.

MidnightFlit · 08/10/2020 09:18

I think there's a distinction to be made about globally repulsive qualities - Nazism, bad breath, convictions for murder - and the smaller, skin-crawlier things that turn you off. Like being an obsessive REO Speedwagon fan or calling his penis Little Geoff.

Member984815 · 08/10/2020 09:21

Smoking and bad personal hygiene
Flakiness - people who can't make plans
Indecisiveness

Starlight39 · 08/10/2020 09:29

Selfish
Not independent
Expects me to be their mother
Tight with money

In my experience the above often come in one package!

Chickychickydodah · 08/10/2020 09:31

B list “ celebs” constantly trying to flog random crap to us
Rude people
People doing nothing and having lots of money
Local government for not keeping us updated
Piss takers
Smelly people too lazy to wash and clean properly
Scroungers

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/10/2020 09:33

Meanness with money
Vanity. Except when he’s shaving, a man who likes looking at himself in the mirror is best avoided.

lazylump72 · 08/10/2020 09:38

all the above and ugly feet!

Thurmanmurman · 08/10/2020 09:41

Tight with money
No sense of humour
Rubbish shoulders
I'd also be put off by a man who couldn't do basic DIY or drive.

formerbabe · 08/10/2020 10:00

Totally agree

I'll also add weedy arms...I'm not mad keen on huge muscles but I really dislike upper arms which have no meat on them!

Tunnocks34 · 08/10/2020 10:04

Lack of motivation.

I am married now, but I always said, I don’t need a man to be rich, or successful when I meet him, but I always wanted a man with a desire to be successful, and have the motivation to set goals and meet them.

I can’t stand people, who plod along in life, complaining that they are skint, miserable, unhappy but do little to change this.

Also men children - the ones who can’t look after their own children without sulking or asking their wives for a, b and c.

No - for me one of the biggest turn ons in a man is having a partner, and equal in life and parenting.

Carouselfish · 08/10/2020 10:05

Small hands, rudeness to waiting staff.

Bluejeantreefrog · 08/10/2020 10:08

Wears long shorts ending mid way down calf with trainers and socks
Grey joggers
Unkempt feet, long toenails especially
Drives fast and frequent road rages
Doesn't like animals
Smokes

Tunnocks34 · 08/10/2020 10:09

And also, if I wasn’t married and was looking again, I’d never, ever date a Donald trump/Nigel Farage supporter. Ever.

Also someone who refers to anyone slightly liberal as a snow flake or a ‘leftie’.

Wouldn’t ever date a smoker either.

Zenithbear · 08/10/2020 10:09

Untrustworthy, hides things, lies
Big headed
Whingers
Angry, short temper
Shallow
Selfish
Cowardly
Unkind to animals and children

Tunnocks34 · 08/10/2020 10:11

I also don’t like feminine men - I know it’s 2020 and men can do what they want, but I do not want a man who plucks his eye brows, wears make up, paints his nails. Nothing wrong with men doing that if that’s what they want to, buy it’s not something I find attractive

RincewindsHat · 08/10/2020 10:12

Smoking
Dirty nails
Bad teeth (not wonky, discoloured)
Racist
Sexist
Lazy
Unintelligent & uninformed

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 08/10/2020 11:06

@geordiema77 I have always thought I must be the only girl in the world that is not the least bit attracted to Jason Momoa. Without the beard yes, but with it, not a chance 😂
