What are your biggest turn offs?

Someone who is too argumentive.

Sorry, are we really meant to say things like 'racist', 'sexist', 'doesn't shower'? I thought we were meant to answer with stuff that wasn't universal, and I assume everyone on MN doesn't want a fecking racist. It's like those threads where someone asks for your "unpopular opinions" and so many people say they don't like dogshit and nuclear war ffs. TBF I guess there aren't many women who are good with 'rude to service people' but I assume there are plenty who aren't bothered by it.

Well a common turn off on people’s lists is a smoker but I am a smoker myself and having dated non smokers who say they’re “fine” with it, and then spend all their time whinging when I want a cigarette, I would now prefer to date a fellow smoker.

Another thing on people’s list is “gamer”. Again I’d actually prefer that. I like gaming myself and have other hobbies like crafts and reading and would prefer someone who can amuse themselves! I’ve had too many ex’s who resent me doing anything that doesn’t involve them, so we end up sat on the sofa watching mindless TV. So boring.

So I’d say my biggest turn off is someone who has no hobbies of their own (whatever they may be) and wants to be “kept company” all the time. Although my one “unacceptable” hobby would be someone gym/fitness obsessed. The types who have to spend several hours a day exercising and won’t share a takeaway because they “eat clean”.

Womanizer. Compulsive liar. Braggart.

Nickel & dimers

Lack of spontenaity (sp?) or sense of adventure, someone who is old before their time.

Anyone who is hopelessly impractical or with no common sense at all.

Lazy attitude to work.

Glass half empty outlook.

Fat.

Wow, just reading this thread has made me see my DP in a completely new light! Thankfully, he's not most of those things. Gonna hug him a little big tighter. This stuff really helps when you are having a bit of a wobble so thank you OP.

Someone who messages/scrolls all evening on their phone instead of attempting conversation.

Leaving said phone face down when not scrolling.

An example of someone with a few of the things PPs have said as being a turn off:
Obsessed with fitness
Beard
Long hair
Tattoos
Scruffy dresser - t shirts, etc
Jewellery
Likes sport - in this case surfing and climbing

Religious

Right wing views.
Rude to waiting staff.

I feel lucky with dp.

Someone who is into politics, me and DP have zero interest in it
Someone who didn't like sport
Someone stuck up their own arse
Someone who was rude to people

Looks are way down the list for me there was plenty of other things are are a turn off before we get to looks!

Being overly jokey or the life and soul of the party when in fact in reality he is just a twat

Being happy to be under the thumb and treated like a child

Obsessed with running, cycling, any sport

Pervy

Smoker/Drinker/Drug User
Does not work but is not disabled ( so basically lazy and a freeloader)
Has no goals/dreams
Has piercings
Wears jewellery (I especially hate yellow gold and diamonds on men)
Wears tight jeans
Does not wear glasses

No generosity of spirit
Tends to see the worst in people/ misanthrope
No intellectual curiosity: don't care about formal education.
No interest in music of any sort.

Oh and anyone with poor ability to read others, particularly body language and in the bedroom.

Middle class men

Arrogance, lack of respect for others, being tight, poor personal hygiene.

Alpha males.

Tall blokes. I'm 5'7" and I don't want to be level with anyone's nipples , thanks.

Being shorter than me

Workaholics. Blokes who use business jargon. Comms types. Basically, every bloke I work with.
