Ive got a tenant and she’s from South America. She’s ok, clean.

I wonder if she’s being rude or not.

I got a new kitchen, got rid of the awful one I had before which was small and had painted doors.

The sink is now black. Before I had a silver sink that was probably twenty years.
Her reaction to the new sink - oh why did you get rid of the silver sink, it matched.

My kitchen matches. It’s black, white, stainless steel and Dark grey.

Why do you care? She’s not a friend or a relative. I assume she’s a lodger rather than a tenant in a house you don’t live in - you can always tell her she’s free to find lodgings more suited to her taste.

Smallsteps88 · 06/10/2020 18:36

“Throwing me shade”. Hmm

She asked you a question. About the house she pays to live in.

YouMatterTheMostLeast · 06/10/2020 18:37

The thread is asking am I being unreasonable

What a bizarre reaction (yours, not hers).

ForeverBubblegum · 06/10/2020 18:39

She expressed a style preference that was different to yours. Total non event

YouMatterTheMostLeast · 06/10/2020 18:39

@Smallsteps88 she’s just had a brand new kitchen put in. The other one was awful. It has painted doors and was a very very old Ikea one. Now she has a brand new

I don't understand your problem.

Wibblypiggly · 06/10/2020 18:40

“Throwing you shade...” Hmm

Your reaction here is BIZARRE.

YouMatterTheMostLeast · 06/10/2020 18:40

Ok so maybe I am being unreasonable.

I just thought that you get a brand new kitchen which is heaps better than the previous one (and it’s not because I have paid for it) your instant reply wouldn’t be “I really liked the silver sink, why did you swap it for a black one”

So? Does that mean she can’t ask you questions? Confused what a strange tenancy agreement that is.

YouMatterTheMostLeast · 06/10/2020 18:41

I guess I just have a filter and after someone has changed something my instant reply wouldn’t be to say I preferred a different colour.

I’m not sure you understand the definition of throwing shade - I can tell you this is not it.

She literally asked a question, how is that shade?

Smallsteps88 · 06/10/2020 18:42

So becoming a tenant means you lose a right to ask questions or express opinions. Got it.

You’re a bit scary OP.

Cocomarine · 06/10/2020 18:42

Do people actually say throwing me shade? 🤣

YouMatterTheMostLeast · 06/10/2020 18:43

@hadjab I do. I wouldn’t say to someone who’s just bought a new kitchen why didn’t you get a certain colour.....

I just came for the comments about "throwing me shade" Grin I wasn't disappointed.

Merryoldgoat · 06/10/2020 18:45

I’m finding Mumsnet really hard work tonight.

MidnightCitrus · 06/10/2020 18:45

throwing shade? what?

Crankley · 06/10/2020 18:45

No idea what “throwing me shade” means.

I don't think it's a big deal, she just expressed her preference.

BoudiccasBoudoir · 06/10/2020 18:46

Is she a tree? Is she a tall building? Is she a cloud?

Or more likely, are you 13?

feathermucker · 06/10/2020 18:47

Nope

Tink88 · 06/10/2020 18:48

Should she be grovelling with thanks for the new kitchen?
