To think this mum is cheeky?

About a year ago I went on a quiz night with a couple of friends, we bumped into a woman and her dh who live down the road from me, I didn't know them well but we exchanged phone numbers. A couple of times in the weeks that followed I suggested meeting up with her as we live down the road but each time she was busy. No problem, I left it.

Today she whatsapped me out of the blue, to say she noticed I collect my dd (year 2) from school on a Monday (the other days I pay for after school club, I work FT).

She asked if I can also collect her dd every Monday from next week and she will collect her from mine at 4pm (school finishes at 3pm).

Albu to think she's really cheeky? I don't even know the mum except for the one conversation a year ago. Her dd is year 6, mine year 2, they don't know each other, I dont even know her dds name!

I havent replied yet.

You could reply ok and I’ll drop my child at your house two hours before school each day so you can do mornings.

Or say that you don’t know her or her child well enough to want to take on that responsibility or tie yourself down to a relative stranger’s child.

HungryForSnacks · 03/10/2020 20:03

Great response OP!

jellybeanteaparty · 03/10/2020 20:05

If she pushes further I would be tempted to say I would be reluctant to have any ongoing commitment with a friend with a child my daughter's age but as we hardly know each other and our children are not similar age this is definely not an arrangement I would consider.

HappyHoppyHippo · 03/10/2020 20:07

CF!
Why would she even ask?! 🤨

mmgirish · 03/10/2020 20:07

Wow! I'm amazed by these CF stories. I've never met one in real life.

Asterion · 03/10/2020 20:08

Cheeky mare! Shock

BabbleBee · 03/10/2020 20:09

I’m not sure if she’s cheeky, maybe she’s desperate? I’d say no, but even so I wouldn’t be bothered about being asked, sometimes there is no other choice.

DueNumberTwo · 03/10/2020 20:10

CF !

DaanSaaf · 03/10/2020 20:11

Surely a year 6 can look after themselves for an hour?

Hokeywokey · 03/10/2020 20:11

Well tbf I've seen this suggested on MN before if someone's stuck for child care.

YellowBeryl1 · 03/10/2020 20:15

She has replied...'thanks, was hoping not to have to pay for club as only an hour and easier to collect from you, let me know if your plans change x'

I think I won't respond....jeez.

Fucksake how bloody cheeky is her response too knowing you pay for after school club 4 days a week.

I'd respond "plans won't change, as my child is in after school club 4 days a week a Monday after school is quality time I spend with her, I'd rather not spend it looking after a child I don't know"

savagebaggagemaster · 03/10/2020 20:17

Haha that reply shows she's definitely in the league of cheekiest fookers! Shock

DueNumberTwo · 03/10/2020 20:18

Well tbf I've seen this suggested on MN before if someone's stuck for child car

I've only ever seen it suggested in a one off emergency. Or as a reciprocal arrangement. I've honestly never seen anyone suggest someone asks a near stranger for regular childcare as a favour - and I've been here a while.

Shizzlestix · 03/10/2020 20:18

Man, her response is extra cheeky! Just no, how very pushy!

DrManhattan · 03/10/2020 20:19

Omg shes still being cheeky in her reply. Let her know if your plans change. Wtf take the foooking hint. What a cheeky b

YellowBeryl1 · 03/10/2020 20:19

I dont think they are short on money either, both parents have a fancy car on the drive. Maybe that's why they have money Grin

@Wibblypiggly that made me laugh 😂

Hairbobble · 03/10/2020 20:19

Talk about a sense of entitlement!! Wow!!! As they say, some people in life are takers....

Hairbobble · 03/10/2020 20:20

"Let me know if your plans change"

Almost like a command!! Bossy hussy!

DueNumberTwo · 03/10/2020 20:21

I've just googled what age year 6 is, surely a 10/11 year old can go home from school herself? It would be less than an hour she'd be home. Unless she lives a big distance from the school?

TheMistressQuickly · 03/10/2020 20:21

Cheeky fucker! Her response is even worse!

@DueNumberTwo has the perfect reply to that!

ReallyLazy · 03/10/2020 20:23

Reply. Call out the cheeky behaviour. It being ignored is why it continues in these people

"Wait, you don't expect someone to do that for free surely?"

YellowBeryl1 · 03/10/2020 20:24

@DueNumberTwo our road is about 15 min walk from school. I dont even know her dd name so no idea if she's responsible enough to be home alone. Not really fair on her either to be packed off with a stranger each week.
