Cleaner wants to me to put a toilet brush in every bathroom

We have three toilets and just started with a new cleaner.

I've been asked by the agency to put a toilet brush in every toilet. I don't want to, I hate toilet brushes I don't want three of them.

I've looked at the disposable ones but they are expensive and don't look great for the environment.

Never had a cleaner make this request before, is it usual?

Squirt toilet cleaner down there, use those fizzy tablets of if the kids have made a mess use gloves and clean it with toilet roll and cleaner. None of those things require me to have something that's been down the toilet in the bathroom at all times.

But the brush will also be sanitised by the cleaner. Mine goes into its pot covered in the foam from the bleach - it probably the cleanest thing in my house!

I really want to hang out with you all and talk more about this but I have to go to work now :(

Enjoy!

My dishwasher doesn't scrub either.

Clymene · 24/09/2020 09:27

@Elsewyre a dishwasher sterilises things. Most toilets don't even get cleaned with hot water, let alone boiling water.

Felifox · 24/09/2020 09:28

I bleach my toilet brush after use. I have 3 pairs of gloves, washing up, housework and toilet/litter tray cleaning. I also clean the gloves before taking them off.

I thought that was normal hygiene practice same as using different cloths to wash up, floor clean, putting floor or carpet cleaner water down the drain or toilet rather than the sink

SallySeven · 24/09/2020 09:28

Exactly I have an alloted time on the internet today and I'm talking toilets!Shock

Notnownotneverever · 24/09/2020 09:29

You either clean your own toilets or put one in each bathroom. Simple.

moveandmove · 24/09/2020 09:29

I've not got toilet brushes and have never had skid marks in the toilet. I guess if you had an upset tummy you might cause them but nobody here has ever left skid marks.
I pour bleach down the toilet and don't have dirty toilets.

SadSack39 · 24/09/2020 09:30

Bloody hate the things too.. disgusting.. never had one and my toilets are sparkling.. dont get why anyone would want a poo filled brush sitting in their bathroom ..yuk

Hingeandbracket · 24/09/2020 09:31

Love a good bog brush thread.

Eckhart · 24/09/2020 09:31

This is really weird. Can't your guests shit straight

Mine all can. They have to pass a test on it before they're allowed over the threshold. Do you the same, OP?

SayWhatTheWhatNow · 24/09/2020 09:32

Toilet brushes are minging
A squirt of bleach for stuck stains does the trick

chocorabbit · 24/09/2020 09:32

No OP, don't evade and answer what do you do with those gloves afterwards Confused

Kalula · 24/09/2020 09:32

*I think it's disgusting to keep something that apparently your houseguests cover with their shit plunged standing in thin bleach in the room where you get clean.

All these people saying ooh it doesn't smell are making me heave.*

The brush is flushed clean by flushing and holding it under the stream.

Think about it, if your toilet bowl doesn't smell, then your toilet brush wouldn't.

You still haven't answered what you do with the gloves you use. Are you buying disposables all the time? If, toilet cleaner, toilet paper, disposable gloves - all excess materials and bad for the environment, not to mention the cost, when a toilet brush is DESIGNED to clean.......toilets. Putting your hand down the bowl I think would make anyone heave. I've heard of people living like pigs, but that is just disgusting! Just picturing the logistics is making me heave.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 24/09/2020 09:32

I don’t have a toilet brush frankly they are disgusting.

YANBU, it’s not as if she’s cleaning inside the bowl it’s just ceramic and touch points.

TitsOutForHarambe · 24/09/2020 09:33

But your toilet bowl will be covered in shit - even if it's not visible. Otherwise, why bother cleaning it at all?

Get one of those toilet brushes where you can't see it, can't remember what they are called... but everything is covered up and since the cleaner is the one who will be using it you need never think about it or look at it.

SerenDippitty · 24/09/2020 09:33

All these sparkling toilet, I’m wondering if some of you are actually unicorns.

Laurendelight · 24/09/2020 09:33

This post is definitely going to be on Loose Women at lunchtime. Mumsnet Mums come clean - they all own toilet brushes.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 24/09/2020 09:33

I know people are divided re use of toilet brushes. I wouldn't clean a toilet without one in my own home let alone someone else's.
Your choice not to use them but if you aren't prepared to provide them, you tell the cleaner that you will clean the toilet bowls yourself.

Kalula · 24/09/2020 09:35

@TheFormerPorpentinaScamander

There should be a toilet brush in your home, just as you would have a broom.

I don't have a toilet brush or a Broom. Why do I need a Broom Confused

Serious? So you never sweep dust or food particles up in your kitchen? Never sweep your doorstop or pavement?
WokesFromHome · 24/09/2020 09:35

I'd just get them and leave them out when she is there. Otherwise she will clean your toilet, then wipe round your fridge and kitchen top.Shock

TwilightSkies · 24/09/2020 09:35

I have never had a toilet brush! I squirt thick Tesco bleach down and any marks disappear.

TableFlowerss · 24/09/2020 09:35

Do it yourself then problem solved Hmm

Elsewyre · 24/09/2020 09:35

No it doesnt most get up to 65c at best you need consideribly over 100c for sterilization by heat and water so an autoclave with a pressure seal.

They clean not sterilize
