Cleaner wants to me to put a toilet brush in every bathroom

We have three toilets and just started with a new cleaner.

I've been asked by the agency to put a toilet brush in every toilet. I don't want to, I hate toilet brushes I don't want three of them.

I've looked at the disposable ones but they are expensive and don't look great for the environment.

Never had a cleaner make this request before, is it usual?

This is really weird. Can't your guests shit straight? I get that the kids make a mess sometimes but do you really visit other peoples houses and pebbledash their toilets?! This is another thing ive never heard of

How do you exercise such control as to never ever leave a skid mark?

In part or depends on the shape of your loo. Some are more straight than others. But it's also odd you think everyone has a poo schedule and only leave the house in between poos. Have you never had an unexpected poo or one that's being unexpectedly wet? Can you actually hold your poo in for a 2 hour visit of you arrive somewhere and suddenly need a poo or do you make your excuses and leave after 10 minutes so you can pop at home?

contrmary · 24/09/2020 09:16

I've got a toilet brush for display purposes, because people commented on the fact that I didn't have one. It's a Poundland one so is disposable if a guest ever actually uses it. I don't use it, I really don't get why they're necessary as I've never had a problem just using bleach and flushing.

gamerchick · 24/09/2020 09:16

Hurts my head so many people use bleach down their toilets. Bleach doesn't clean and it's bad for your pipes.

You need a brush to stop build up on the porcelain. Either that under the rim and under the waterline needs to be scrubbed by hand.

Not ever doing it is grim.

movingonup20 · 24/09/2020 09:16

I thought everyone had a brush per toilet, just me then?

Can't help it, am starting to see a mental picture of the OP with long ears, a twitchy nose, and a perplexed expression.

VenusOfWillendorf · 24/09/2020 09:17

If you don't want to buy three toilet brushes, then just tell the cleaner that they don't need to clean the toilets, you'll take care if it yourself.

Cadent · 24/09/2020 09:18

All the people who think they are cleaning the loo by squirting some bleach on it and flushing it a bit later are deluding themselves.

seayork2020 · 24/09/2020 09:18

We just eat clean food so what comes out only smells of rose petals and perfume so we use toilet brushes as an interpretive art installation for the neighbours

What's that saying, RTFT? Grin

Ah i was believing you until the whole "don't your guests shit straight thing".

I was intrigued as to how you clean below the water line. If there really are some parts of the uk that have absolutely no limescale. And if a wipe with loo roll prevented all stains.

But to apparently believe that all poo falls from an anus straight down the u bend without touching the sides and anyone whose shit doesn't do this is clearly deficient in their shitting abilities?

Yep. Bonkers

Etinox · 24/09/2020 09:19

@Wibblypiggly

Clean your own loos, then. Or just do what normal people do, and have a toilet brush.
Those are your options. It’s fine to have principals but when they tell you that you have the right to tell someone else how to clean your shit, you might want to re-examine them.
Kalula · 24/09/2020 09:21

Shock That's disgusting. There should be a toilet brush in your home, just as you would have a broom. Or a toothbrush. Or a hairbrush. It's unhygienic not to have a toilet brush, and even worse to stick your hand in the toilet, even gloved. Disgusting!

"clean it with toilet roll and cleaner"
What a waste of toilet paper and bad for the environment!

RomanyBlood · 24/09/2020 09:21

YABVU
This attitude, spending money and pouring numerous strong chemicals, bleach, fizzy tabs etc down the toilet rather than use a brush and elbow grease because you are too squeamish, explains a lot about modern life.

Beautiful3 · 24/09/2020 09:22

I have a cheap toilet brush for each toilet. It's not fair to expect her to put her hands in it to clean it.

burglarbettybaby · 24/09/2020 09:22

I don't like them either but i would buy them as i understand cleaning other people's toilets is yuck. We use black harpic here. It's brilliant

No I don't use a toilet brush to clean off shit marks and always give the loo a quick wipe before our cleaner comes.

I find people unwilling to scrub their toilets a bit odd. Do you just run your dishes under the tap if you can't see any visible food on them?

Elsewyre · 24/09/2020 09:23

Wildly off topic but what's actually acceptable for a cleaner to clean?

I had no idea toilets where included (although now I say it it sounds obvious) and do you stay in the house while they clean or leave?

I hate cleaning so would love a cleaner but I feel so awkward I'd end up cleaning just so it wasnt dirty for the cleaner Blush

I think it's disgusting to keep something that apparently your houseguests cover with their shit plunged standing in thin bleach in the room where you get clean.

All these people saying ooh it doesn't smell are making me heave.

awesomeaircraft · 24/09/2020 09:24

Get bamboo brushes in an old jug. At least they are eco friendly.

Tbf if I ever had shit on my dishes I'd probably just bin them.

Also dishwasher doesnt scrub it just rinses right?

TeddyTeddy · 24/09/2020 09:24

I just put some bleach round the rim every once in a while, no need for scrubbing. Shiny white loo all the time. I think loo brushes are disgusting. Is it really that bad using bleach? Isn’t that what people clean with when they use a brush?

So say you have a bit if a "loose" stool and it leaves a mark what do you do?

Dp is lactose intolerant so if he eats anything with some milk he says it comes out like a cow pat and needs scrubbing?
