Cleaner wants to me to put a toilet brush in every bathroom

We have three toilets and just started with a new cleaner.

I've been asked by the agency to put a toilet brush in every toilet. I don't want to, I hate toilet brushes I don't want three of them.

I've looked at the disposable ones but they are expensive and don't look great for the environment.

Never had a cleaner make this request before, is it usual?

Yeah get off your high horse and just have a real life conversation with your cleaner. It'll be so easy to resolve without all this drama.

MNHQ can we ban the use of the word Grim on here please.

@ivykaty44

Wait till you have to clean these, the explosive poo can splash back - so you have to clean underneath and the sides, we have to don rubber clothes and have separate cleaning scourers, as it’s not like the toilet bowl and the shit sticks 🙈 but it has to be cleaned or it smells
Agree. When you’ve emptied plenty of commodes, some left a while so dried on (lined with toilet paper but not foolproof) then wiping a smear of poo from a toilet with a bit of loo roll seems an odd thing to be so disgusted by.

This doesn’t mean that anyone, including professional cleaners, shouldn’t be able to choose how they clean though.

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 25/09/2020 12:03

I just don't expect to be told what do do by a cleaning agency

Paying someone for their labour doesn't mean you get to tell them to do anything you want, it doesn't mean they can't refuse your requests and it doesn't mean you are better than them. On the surface this is so ridiculous it's hilarious but the lurking undertone of you feeling entitled to make someone obey you because you pay for their services is very telling.

@ToastyCrumpet

I put on rubber gloves and use a washing up sponge. I don’t like toilet brushes either. And before anyone asks, I keep an old washing up sponge specifically for that purpose.
How is keeping a washing up sponge specifically for cleaning the toilet bowl any different from keeping a loo brush specifically for cleaning the toilet bowl.

When I've cleaned my loo I put loo cleaner down and leave the brush in the water and cleaner to soak. It comes out as clean as the newly cleaned toilet bowl.

You brits are weird with toilet brushes Grin.

But the way you, op describes only dc may leave skid marks, do adult British poo come nicely wrapped and packaged 🎁?

Ineedflour · 26/09/2020 18:47

@seayork2020

We just eat clean food so what comes out only smells of rose petals and perfume so we use toilet brushes as an interpretive art installation for the neighbours

For those of you who don't believe others don't leave skid marks in their toilets for cleaners to clean, I can confirm as a cleaner that people do this.

You would not believe the mess and state of some toilets that we are left to deal with. I remember lifting the lid on one toilet and the water was up to the seat and was full of floating poo.

nosswith · 26/09/2020 19:42

I am surprised that the OP does not have a toilet brush next to every toilet. It would never enter my thoughts to do otherwise, and I do not have a cleaner.

MulticolourMophead · 28/09/2020 13:12

I would so love a Japanese all singing, dancing toilet that keeps itself clean, as well as keeping your bum clean.

And isn't it German toilets that have inspection ledges? You'd need a brush for that.

Bloomburger · 28/09/2020 13:23

I'm a wonky shitter OP, we'd be lost without our loo brush in each bathroom.

I'd rather have a loo brush thank minging rubber gloves hanging around too!
