Cleaner wants to me to put a toilet brush in every bathroom

We have three toilets and just started with a new cleaner.

I've been asked by the agency to put a toilet brush in every toilet. I don't want to, I hate toilet brushes I don't want three of them.

I've looked at the disposable ones but they are expensive and don't look great for the environment.

Never had a cleaner make this request before, is it usual?

How do you clean your toilet between cleaner visits if you don't have a brush there? Confused

Peanutbutteryogurt · 24/09/2020 09:01

How is she supposed to clean it then?

Potterpotterpotter · 24/09/2020 09:01

How do you clean your toilet normally? Or is it black 😒

Squirt toilet cleaner down there, use those fizzy tablets of if the kids have made a mess use gloves and clean it with toilet roll and cleaner. None of those things require me to have something that's been down the toilet in the bathroom at all times.

Do you expect your cleaner to put her hand u dear the water and clean off the shit marks?

festfestfest · 24/09/2020 09:02

If you want to plunge your hand down your own toilet then that's fine, but I don't think you should be asking anyone else to do it.

MrsR87 · 24/09/2020 09:02

I don’t have a cleaner but I do have three bathrooms. I have a toilet brush in each one. To me it would be weird not to. We have brabantia ones where you can’t see the brush itself. They’ve also never gone rusty.

I’d rather have one in every bathroom than have the cleaner carry one around the house!

gamerchick · 24/09/2020 09:02

So you expect your cleaner to put their hands down your toilet?

Toilet brushes are just for cleaning. They're not for any other use that you see crop up. Like cleaning fresh skids. So yes you're being UR. You don't have to use it Hmm

If you don't like it then use another company.

Wibblypiggly · 24/09/2020 09:02

Clean your own loos, then. Or just do what normal people do, and have a toilet brush.

Nottherealslimshady · 24/09/2020 09:03

Wold you rather her carry a dirty toilet brush between the three toilets?
I also dont understand how people dont have toilet brushes, are you just really good aims or what?

There aren't any shit marks in there. Do people honestly leave shit marks on their toilets and expect their cleaner to clean them off Confused

YABU - even if you don’t mind using rubber gloves and scrubbing brush for your family your cleaner won’t want to. It’s also kinder for visitors who would be embarrassed to not be able to clean up after themselves.

espressoontap · 24/09/2020 09:04

I don't get why people don't have toilet brushes, it's a weird MN thing.

Just get a cheap one for each loo, I have three loos and a brush in each one.

YABU to expect your cleaner to not use one.

seayork2020 · 24/09/2020 09:04

Isn't it simpler to just get 3 toilet brushes or clean it yourself?

RedRumTheHorse · 24/09/2020 09:04

You clearly haven't seen "How clean is your house?" and similar programs where toilet brushes aren't use.

I don't use a toilet brush, and my toilet isn't black or has marks on it.

LunaAzul · 24/09/2020 09:04

Having a toilet brush seems far more easier than your way. Clean the brush weekly by leaving it in the (clean) toilet overnight and you can bleach the pot it stands in too. I've got them in all three bathrooms and never once have I noticed them smelling.

Putting my hand in the toilet to clean crap would make me heave.

festfestfest · 24/09/2020 09:05

If you're happy for her just to squirt bleach down and not actually clean it then let her know. Personally I think toilets need scrubbing under the water as far as you can see. Not for poo but just for general cleanliness and sparkle.

toiletbrushtrauma · 24/09/2020 09:05

Ok fair enough it's a thing.

I won't be buying them I'll just tell her not to clean the bowl (I don't leave it covered in shit anyway like the rest of you seem to).

OP: did all your previous cleaners use a brush or clean the way you do? How many previous cleaners have you had?

Littlemissdaredevil · 24/09/2020 09:06

Would you rather she carried the toilet brush between toilets dripping goodness knows what into the floor. You can buy a couple of cheap toilet brushes for about £3 each. Could you hide them behind the loo when not in use?

Spuddddd · 24/09/2020 09:06

there will still be poo particles in the loo even if you have wiped away skid marks.
I wouldn't want someone trapsing round my house with a loo brush to each bathroom. I'd want the loo brush to stay put.

I was wondering how you deal with your own shit marks if you have no toilet brush.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 24/09/2020 09:06

People use a toilet brush to remove marks!
