AIBU to ask how often you eat "rubbish"...

As in how often you'd have a big cream cake, or ice cream, or oooh I dunno, a big box of chocolates, 3 doughnuts and a trifle.

Basically I pretty much obsess about food 😂 Right now I'd really LOVE a big slice of cake, or some apple crumble and custard. Sweet rather than savoury.

I say "rubbish" just because it's full of calories rather than full of my 5-a-day. I try to eat reasonably well and don't always give in to cravings. Just wondered if I was being overly harsh on myself and should in fact pop out and get ALL of the above 😋

So AIBU to wonder how many people do just eat what they fancy when they fancy it (I don't cos I worry about getting fat, I'm really short so extra weight shows quickly).

We don't keep things like that in the house as neither me or DH have any self control. We usually have a 'naughty night' once or twice a week where we go out and get bingey stuff and are good the rest of the time! We are both very active and slim so can get away with the odd bingefest 😁

Oly4 · 23/09/2020 17:28

Once a week

biddybird · 23/09/2020 17:32

5 nights out of 7 in the past. Since I cut that out (in March when lockdown started) I have lost 4st.

Spanglybangles · 23/09/2020 17:39

Couple of times a week I’d say. Having an indulgent treat tonight as I bought a tray of 6 individual fresh cream and strawberry Victoria sponges from Costco earlier today....they are AMAZING!!

Hi OP sympathise.

However I can predict the replies

  • I never ever eat anything bad for me
  • I do but am as slim as all get out
  • go for it
  • what's wrong with being overweight you must be fatshaming
Spanglybangles · 23/09/2020 17:40

As a side note, I’ll only be having one of them (tonight anyway!!) Grin

ZolaGrey · 23/09/2020 17:43

I'm currently eating a biscuit.

It will be followed several other biscuits.

Kanaloa · 23/09/2020 17:53

More than I should at the moment. I could eat big puddings every day but I usually try to limit it to weekends only. With working from home I’ve been acting like it’s always a weekend!

biddybird · 23/09/2020 17:54

@Thingsarel00kingup
I feel like a new person. Another 3st and I will be a healthy weight. I have occasional thoughts about how nice it would be to eat some rubbish but I just remind myself that it's not true.

Pachonga · 23/09/2020 17:56

I cook meals we eat at home from scratch, within reason (I don’t make my own mayonnaise, for example). I do make puddings sometimes but don’t include them as “crap”, in my mind anyway.

That said, I have just had a mini kit kat and am considering a second.

LilaButterfly · 23/09/2020 17:59

Cake on birthdays, ice cream maybe twice a week when its hot. I do eat a small piece of dark chocolate almost every day and i have a red bull addiction which makes me cave at least once a week Blush
Other than that im pretty healthy. I could eat sweets all day though and it is hard sometimes to not give in to cravings.
But i gain weight quickly and used to be overweight after the kids, no way im going back there.

bearlyactive · 23/09/2020 17:59

Does macaroni cheese count?

I also made Eton Mess ice cream this afternoon...

Zebrasandfairytales · 23/09/2020 17:59

I used to pretty much every night, particularly during lockdown. Popcorn, chocolate, puddings or noodles, washed down with red wine.

I put on a significant amount of weight though so have been doing the Very Fast 800 and completely stopped snacking in the evening. I do feel significantly better for it and have lost three stone.

I will go back to having very occasional treats at the end of the 12 weeks but feel like I’ve broken the cycle of overeating in the evenings.

Lolalime · 23/09/2020 18:03

Most days though I do have periods of time where it’s once a week. I don’t gain weight easily but it does show in my skin, a high sugar diet is no good for skin!
My cravings are stronger than my vanity

RelaisBlu · 23/09/2020 18:13

I had coffee & walnut cake yesterday whilst out because I happened to be somewhere that has spectacular cake. I try to save up the times I have it for something a bit special

Far too often, but my vices are savoury: crisps, salted popcorn, cheese...

MaskingForIt · 23/09/2020 18:16

Probably about once a month. We only have take away once a month. (DH sometimes has it more often, but I’ll cook for myself those nights).

Cakes etc, basically never, because when I have one I want them all, and I don’t want to be a fatty.

MaskingForIt · 23/09/2020 18:17

Same here, cheese and cured meats are my downfall!
Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/09/2020 18:19

I can't eat what I fancy when I fancy it because I have a massive sweet tooth and I fancy cake and chocolate every single day!

I eat "rubbish" about twice a week. On Fridays I usually go out for a coffee and cake as a treat then on the weekend I might have a bar of chocolate. Have a takeaway and a meal out once a month as well.

FourTeaFallOut · 23/09/2020 18:22

Like a biscuit? Once a day. Or like a cheesecake? Once a week/fortnight. Or like, 'I ate so much nice food that it might as well be Christmas'? Once every other month-ish.

AWryGiraffe · 23/09/2020 18:24

At the moment, not at all, as I'm trying to lose 1.5 stone, and on a lower carb diet. The only 'treat' I have is some dark chocolate every few days or so.

joystir59 · 23/09/2020 18:24

Once a week

joystir59 · 23/09/2020 18:25

I don't have cakes biscuits ice-cream crisps bread or real butter in the house as I've got zero will power
