AIBU to ask how often you eat "rubbish"...

As in how often you'd have a big cream cake, or ice cream, or oooh I dunno, a big box of chocolates, 3 doughnuts and a trifle.

Basically I pretty much obsess about food 😂 Right now I'd really LOVE a big slice of cake, or some apple crumble and custard. Sweet rather than savoury.

I say "rubbish" just because it's full of calories rather than full of my 5-a-day. I try to eat reasonably well and don't always give in to cravings. Just wondered if I was being overly harsh on myself and should in fact pop out and get ALL of the above 😋

So AIBU to wonder how many people do just eat what they fancy when they fancy it (I don't cos I worry about getting fat, I'm really short so extra weight shows quickly).

Honestly, never, well not the amount that you reference. I may have one or two biscuits, or one or two chocolates with a cuppa in the evening. If I bake I would have one cupcake a day. But, I dont have a sweet tooth. I never have.

Pasta, pizza, bread, bagels, carb filled dinners. They are my downfalls.

Lemonyfuckit · 23/09/2020 19:11

My biggest weakness is perhaps pasta though and if DP was out and I was cooking pasta just for me, I would make and happily eat a ridiculous sized portion. So we don't eat it too often and when I'm making it for both of us I actually sadly now measure out an actual 'portion' size (which always looks depressingly small).

Susannahmoody · 23/09/2020 19:11

Very very rarely

Bourbonbiccy · 23/09/2020 19:12

Every night I have a small bowl of ice cream.
On a Saturday we have a big bar of chocolate each, and a cake
Through the week if I meet with friends for coffee, lunch I always have dessert rather than a meal.

Quite often in an evening I eat biscuits and mini marshmallows, gosh this looks a lot when written down.

Bourbonbiccy · 23/09/2020 19:13

I also a baker, so munch some crumble, cookies, flapjacks through the week ShockShockShock

Oysterbabe · 23/09/2020 19:13

Once a week.

abstractprojection · 23/09/2020 19:14

We have a rubbish meal about once a week like frozen pizza

I’d call these more treats. We buy some as part of the weekly shop and when they’re gone they’re gone. I guess I probably have something each day but I don’t binge

vanillandhoney · 23/09/2020 19:15

I eat something "rubbishy" everyday, but not in huge amounts. A small kitkat or a bag of crisps or a couple of hobnobs.

Theradioison · 23/09/2020 19:16

Only on here do people eat a 'small square of dark chocolate' 🤣

purrswhileheeats · 23/09/2020 19:16

Once a week on a Sunday when I've got low blood sugar a hangover

CrunchyNutNC · 23/09/2020 19:21

@Theradioison

Only on here do people eat a 'small square of dark chocolate' 🤣
Yep, my chicken can feed 6 people for 4 days too. Wink

Dark chocolate just isn't something you'd binge on.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 23/09/2020 19:23

When I get stressed at work. It isn’t acceptable to hit the gin, so I eat Haribo instead.

ThirstyGhost · 23/09/2020 19:23

I'll have something sweet every day - might just be a regular sized choc bar or cake or similar. But I love things like toast and crumpets so will often have those (I mean 4 bits of toast and jam as a snack, not just for brekkie). But my weight is fine - goes up and down a bit but healthy BMI at the lower end of the scale. I never used to exercise at all though. I mean NOTHING EVER. Really sedentary. Then I got a dog 2 years ago and now do long dog walks every day for a couple of hours (which I think might just work because while I'm walking I'm not mindlessly eating so much like I was before). So every day, in answer to your question.

Mydarlingsleepthief · 23/09/2020 19:23

Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday’s! But I’m mega strict the rest of the time. So basically I binge eat 3 days and starve 4 days 🤦‍♀️

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 23/09/2020 19:24

I love all these things. I eat too many of them (most days). As a result I am a least a stone, or perhaps a stone and a half, bigger than I would like to be. I'm the wrong side of 11st which at my height is too high

hopefulhalf · 23/09/2020 19:24

Crisps/salted peanuts/ bombay mix before dinner on friday and saturday night
A proper pudding once a week.
Chocolate or biscuits (about 2 biscuits or 2 finger kitkat) probrably twice a week.

Funkyslippers · 23/09/2020 19:25

Every day I have something 'rubbish'. But it's usually just a piece of cake or a slice of apple pie & cream. Not the whole cake or the whole pie. I do workout alot though :)

Junkmail · 23/09/2020 19:26

I love junk food so I am really careful with how often I eat it because I honestly used to eat crap every day and was 5 stone heavier than I am now I eat mostly healthy. We have pizza once a fortnight and I eat ice cream for dessert two maybe three times a week. Aside from a slice of cake on a birthday and a few extra treats at Christmas that’s it.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/09/2020 19:26

Rarely sweet stuff, I dont have a sweet tooth, but crisps and cheese, all the time.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/09/2020 19:27

Twice a year, maybe? My birthday and Christmas.

Post-40 I gain weight too easily to eat rubbish.

Fruitteatime · 23/09/2020 19:29

Twice a day, usually as a dessert after lunch and dinner.

Wtfdidwedo · 23/09/2020 19:30

I have chocolate, biscuits or cake every day and always have. My metabolism is finally catching up on me since turning 30 unfortunately and my BMI is now at the wrong end of normal after being at about 20 as long as I can remember. I'm now really struggling to adjust my diet because I'm so used to eating crap.

milienhaus · 23/09/2020 19:34

Pretty much every day, I know its not good but something chocolate is all there is to get through the afternoon!

newtb · 23/09/2020 19:35

spangly might be worth freezing them just in case.

However, I do know 'someone' (ok it was me) who managed to eat a slice of almost completely frozen sponge cake filled with lemon curd when a bit stressed.

In my defence, stbxh is a foul-mouthed abusive alcoholic and I was probably a bit stressed at the time. Cream when frozen is more solid and would be difficult to eat. I think.

JustCallMeGriffin · 23/09/2020 19:38

Nice rubbish like cake and chocolate...not often. My self control is pretty low so if it's there I'll eat it all and I'm trying to stick with 1200 calories a day to lose weight it's not working yet
