AIBU to ask how often you eat "rubbish"...

As in how often you'd have a big cream cake, or ice cream, or oooh I dunno, a big box of chocolates, 3 doughnuts and a trifle.

Basically I pretty much obsess about food 😂 Right now I'd really LOVE a big slice of cake, or some apple crumble and custard. Sweet rather than savoury.

I say "rubbish" just because it's full of calories rather than full of my 5-a-day. I try to eat reasonably well and don't always give in to cravings. Just wondered if I was being overly harsh on myself and should in fact pop out and get ALL of the above 😋

So AIBU to wonder how many people do just eat what they fancy when they fancy it (I don't cos I worry about getting fat, I'm really short so extra weight shows quickly).

Almost every day I have a treat like a kit kat or I share a twirl with DH. Not much of a binge eater so I'm able to stop at two biccies for example. Not a fan of cake either. But I definitely haven't gone a day without some kinda of chocolate treat or some crisps in.... Well.... That long haha

CeibaTree · 23/09/2020 20:16

I used to about once a week, sometimes twice - but since I have gone low carb I just don't fancy anything like that anymore. I've trained my palate to like very dark chocolate, so one square of that feels like a treat now!

CeibaTree · 23/09/2020 20:25

@Theradioison

Only on here do people eat a 'small square of dark chocolate' 🤣
Well you couldn't eat a lot of very dark chocolate, that's the whole point of switching to it!
Piglet89 · 23/09/2020 21:01

I have a small bit of Green & Blacks once a year at Christmas.

ZarasHouse · 23/09/2020 21:02

@CeibaTree

You definitely can eat a lot of dark chocolate. Especially dark chocolate Toblerone.

Piglet89 · 23/09/2020 21:02

Obviously didn’t RTFT and my post is a pisstake: but I see I am already winning at thread bingo from some of the previous posts.

Zoecarter · 23/09/2020 21:04

All the time ... I am getting weight loss surgery on Sunday

notalwaysalondoner · 23/09/2020 21:17

I’m more a savoury than sweet person but I’d say I have a pizza or a curry or a pub meal at least once a week. I don’t binge though. Ever. I guess it’s just my personality. Once I’m full I stop. I also don’t snack. Or barely and only if it’s at least two or three hours before my next meal otherwise I hang on (and have more room for more curry haha). I do think this personality trait is the main reason I’m slim as I bloody love food and don’t exercise that much... but I love veg too so that helps.

ProudAuntie76 · 23/09/2020 21:21

Most days at the moment Blush I’m a comfort eater and I’ve gained a stone since March.

Today for example...I had a McDonalds Sausage McMuffin Meal and a Flat white, a Cappuccino and two jammy dodgers, a packet of crisps, a hobnob, a small scoop of salted caramel ice cream and a freddo as well as my meals (avocado on toast and homemade chilli con con carne, white rice and salad).

I used to be much healthier. Just no will power at the moment.

lauryloo · 23/09/2020 21:21

Too much during lockdown. Every day

But I've started keeping a food dairy and walking and thats really helping

Will have treats at the weekend tho

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/09/2020 21:22

@Piglet89
I look at a cake on alternate years and that does me fine. Wink

I wouldn't really call dark toblerone very dark chocolate though - the stuff I mean is at least 85% with far less sugar..
Ingredients of a dark chocolate toblerone: Cocoa Mass, Sugar, Milk Fat, Honey (3.0%), Almonds (1.6%), Cocoa Butter, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin), Egg White, Chocolate contains: Cocoa Solids: 50% minimum
Lindt 85% ingredients: Cocoa Mass, Fat-Reduced Cocoa, Cocoa Butter, Demerara Sugar, Vanilla, Cocoa Solids: 85% min.

Piglet89 · 23/09/2020 21:26

@IHaveBrilloHair brilliant username.

😂😂😂

Charles11 · 23/09/2020 21:29

Too often! I love home made cakes, biscuits and bread. I also love crisps and popcorn.
Today I’ve had a 25g packet of ready salted crisps, a piece of carrot cake and 2 chocolates from a box (birthday present a couple of weeks ago)
I do need to stop so I can lose some weight.

catgotmytongue · 23/09/2020 21:30

I've had about 8 quality street chocolates today at work but only because they're there. I've also had a crust of freshly baked bread slathered with butter. I might eat crisps on a weekend for lunch and we have a takeaway once a week. I don't like cake or ice cream and I can totally live without pasta, potatoes and rice but I do love bread and crisps!

EasyAndy101 · 23/09/2020 21:30

All I've eaten today are waffles, kit kat and Snickers

Considering having rice for dinner but will probably skip it

I go through phases of eating stuff like this, sometimes i just crave it so eat it. Most of the time I don't eat like that.

Regardless of whether I'm eating crap or healthy food though I know when to stop and am probably pretty consistent on overall calorie intake week to week if not day to day

lioncitygirl · 23/09/2020 21:30

Everynight. Today after dinner, I’ve had half a family bar of Cadbury milk and a slice of cinnamon swirl loaf. By 10pm I will be hungry again so I’ll have some crisps 😂

user12345796 · 23/09/2020 21:33

Whenever I want.
But I don't like ice cream or creamy things. If I want chocolate or crisps or wine I just have them. Works out I just have them every day but only in moderation.

Glitteryone · 23/09/2020 22:02

I have a packet of crisps with lunch everyday, for eg. Quavers

And I have a small bit of chocolate with a cup of tea every evening. When I say a small but I mean a normal size bar of chocolate or a biscuit, such as a Kit Kat.

I often think I could cut these out and have a one night per week big binge/treat. However I think little and often works best for me!

moolady1977 · 23/09/2020 22:14

I'm eating rubbish everyday I did try to blame lockdown but I'm back at work now I don't bother with breakfast or dinner so I start munching on crisps or chocolate when I get home and by teatime have no energy to make a proper meal so it's takeaway food pot noodles or more crisps I still have some Easter eggs left so may give them to the grandkids when I do a clear of the pantry as I need to try and shift a good couple of stone

inthekitchensink · 23/09/2020 22:15

Grin knew this place would have the answer

inthekitchensink · 23/09/2020 22:17

Oops that was a reply for @KilljoysDutch

Dee1975 · 23/09/2020 23:12

I eat 2 bags of crisps a day. Everything else normal. Although I prob eat too much bread ...
Because of said crisp problem - I rarely eat cake, biscuits, chocolate etc ... maybe once a month? At most.

Namechange8471 · 23/09/2020 23:29

Everyday I have something sweet.

Today was a cherry bake well, other days it’s a Freddo.

I just live chocolate/ cake 🍰

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 23/09/2020 23:32

I have ice cream twice a week (hopefully no more!) plus maybe 5 biscuits. That's pretty much it.
