Guess this years John Lewis advert

A friend WhatsApped me the following which made me PMSL. I don’t think it will end up being too far from the truth:

‘Absolutely dreading the John Lewis Christmas advert this year. Probably a cover of Fix You by a children’s choir, singing to all their nan’s via Zoom while they stand on their doorsteps freezing their tits off to clap for the NHS in the 4th lockdown of the year’.

What do you think this years JL Christmas advert will be?

Yeah I think Sainsbury's might go for a Spanish flu kind of vibe.

Tune should be "If we Tolerate This Then Your Children will be Next originally by Manic Street Preachers. Cut to shots of shut in uni students having food delivered or being picked up by their parents.......all wearing face masks ........cut to the one student standing alone who then lets go of a red balloon which then floats up up and away until it slowly comes down over Barnard Castle Where it COULD turn into Cummings face and the words IF YOU TOLERATE THIS. Then your Christmas will be next appear on the screen.

Bound to be ' fix you ' by Coldplay.
Showing students up the window crying until mum shows up with a Christmas parcel for them all but they have to put it though the window! Then a FaceTime with mum and dad whilst enjoying Christmas pud in the halls kitchen.

Well the advert is out! And a complete let down! All our suggestions were far far better! 🤣

Urgh it’s too surreal, and I hate the jumping from animation to real life and back again.

I agree it's too confusing? What the hell is the pigeon all about? Most people hate pigeons! Doesn't feel xmassy at all 😿

It's sweet and I like the sentiment, paying forward a kindness, but it's easily forgettable.

I love pigeons. We have a foursome in our garden regularly and they're funny little characters. I guess massive flocks in public places is what people hate.

I’m so disappointed. Very meh.

It’s crap, and I’m gutted that MN wasn’t consulted because the vast majority of the suggestions on this thread are better

I was disappointed in it. I read this thread when it was posted and thought some were brilliant! Next year I hope they take one of you up, because this year's offering didn't do it for me.

Disney's one has had me in years this morning however, beautiful advert.
