There's a few but one I see often that just makes me Hmm is 'what if they were your kids?'.

It's obviously always said in response to someone who is not the child's parent and therefore surely a completely pointless argument?!

What others do you always see and eye roll at?

There are so many buzz words on Mumsnet repeated over until they become meaningless.

Someone is selfish? Narcissist
Your MIL sneezed? Go no contact
Your husband farted? He's abusive
Your parents were human? You've been through trauma and need to go no contact and your mum is probably a narcissist. Oh and this thread needs a trigger warning.

MummyofTw0 · 17/09/2020 19:40

A few times I've said "first world problems" and oh my god I've been torn apart so have learnt my lesson lol

ssd · 17/09/2020 19:42

Oh, the goat the bat and the glue

All overdone and not even funny the first time

MintyMabel · 17/09/2020 19:42

When an OP posts to say he is a man and you just know he's going to get absolutely dragged for everything he says from there on out

To be fair, this only happens so much because of the kinds of posts generall out on here by men. I’ve seen some really nice responses to men who aren’t posting things like “my wife is a slovenly bitch and never cleans the house”

But it also links nicely to a pet hate of mine here - “if a man posted this, the responses would be different” when every single post has been exactly the same as it would have been if it were.

@ZenZebra also beat me to “let’s call them” Just fucking stop it. We’re not so stupid we need character names, we’re capable of following a post without it. Whenever someone posts that, I assume it’s a troll.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 17/09/2020 19:42
@oohmama

'Get to fuck'
'I'd tell him to get to fuck'
Really? You'd say those words? Those exact words?? Because
A. I've never ever heard someone say that and
B. Where is fuck? Is it a place? Do you mean fuck

Get to (tae) fuck is a Scottish phrase.
Yes, you need to say it in a Glaswegian accent to get the full effect!

I agree it's not always the case but I've seen plenty of posts where this has happened and people have said things they'd never dream of saying to a female posters. Quite often things like asking why his wife felt the need to cheat and things of that nature. That would never get asked of a female poster.

Go on a spa day

I fucking hate this as its apparently the answer to any problem

1984isnow · 17/09/2020 19:48

'Oh diddums'. I always get the feeling the poster thinks its so funny and clever of them, when it just sounds stupid.

Also whenever I see -

'Oh look another one
OP: AIBU
Posters: Yes
Op: No I'm not'

So annoying that some posters think their word should be law. The OP doesn't need to take AIBU replies as gospel.

BlueThistles · 17/09/2020 19:49

Get to fuck'
I'd tell him to get to fuck'
Really? You'd say those words? Those exact words??

actually it's heard daily in Scotland 🤣

BlueThistles · 17/09/2020 19:50

Hope this Helps @BlueThistles HTH😂

🤣 thank you 😂

ShinyMe · 17/09/2020 19:51

I'm amazed that nobody's mentioned my top hate!

I hate when someone explains that they're upset about xyz thing that another person has done or not done, and someone says "what was his reaction when you spoke to him about it?" Because CLEARLY the person hasn't spoken to them about it, and maybe they should have done, but presumably part of the reason for posting is to work out whether they should talk to the person, and if so, how.

Ohtherewearethen · 17/09/2020 19:52

It really bugs me when some posters do their desperate best to make every woman a victim of abuse. A poster could describe a heated argument between herself and her husband during which he told her to bugger off. Posters fall over themselves to claim the OP is a survivor of abuse and should immediately call Women's Aid and leave him by lunch time. Whereas in the real world you'd both just calm down, apologise and undertake not to row so viscously next time. To call everything a man does that annoys his wife abuse really undermines the hideous abuse so many women survive every day.

Polkapoo · 17/09/2020 19:52

Also whenever I see -

'Oh look another one
OP: AIBU
Posters: Yes
Op: No I'm not'

Yes. Although I think sometimes an OP does refuse to see anything from anyone elses POV, I have also had it happen to myself where I've just tried to correct someone about something they'd misinterpreted completely made up about my AIBU which may have influenced their decision and got the whole 'why even post?' in return because I didn't immediately go 'oh yeah I must be U then'.

Batch cook.

uncurls toes

TorkTorkBam · 17/09/2020 19:54

When other posters get into a bun fight on someone else's thread. Each being utterly determined to have the last word. Take it to the PMs if you must.

pictish · 17/09/2020 19:56

Get to fuck...common phrase here in the Lothians. Is used in varied and interesting ways. I like it.

Monkeynuts18 · 17/09/2020 19:56

Such a minor one but I really hate ‘fast forward to now’ or ‘fast forward two years’ when telling a story. Your life isn’t a film.

Polkapoo · 17/09/2020 19:57

Or how about 'how old are you OP?'

Rarely a genuine question but rather an attempt to belittle an OP and make their issue seem childish.

OP posts:
pictish · 17/09/2020 19:57

He’s a grown man, I’d put him out to fend for himself.

On any 18 yr old who hasn’t got a mortgage yet.

CanaryFish · 17/09/2020 19:57

“You sound awful”
Usually about something minor

Over use of the word “lovely”
“Bottle of wine and a lovely card “ as opposed to a bottle of wine and a shitty card ?
“Do something lovely”
I don’t even know why it annoys me it’s totally irrational on my part

Athe · 17/09/2020 20:00

I get annoyed when an OP will ask for advice/vent on a problematic situation for them and a few posts in, they’ll get something along the lines of -
“And what did they say when you challenged them, OP?”

I need to own up, I do use the phrase picky bits / picky tea irl

Spidey66 · 17/09/2020 20:01
@Spidey66 the joint finances thing. ‘I just don’t understand why you would have separate money, it’s family money.’ If you can’t possibly understand any conceivable reason that people might maintain separate finances, maybe you’re not quite bright enough to be giving financial advice.
Eh? I must be thick, you’ve lost me there!

For the record though, we have separate accounts, but I don’t act like my way is the only way of managing money. Which was kind of my point!

AwesomeSauce4 · 17/09/2020 20:01

Someone mentioned it earlier on but I hate 'I just spat my coffee/wine/gin all over the screen'.

No you didn't.

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 17/09/2020 20:02

Diagram or it doesn't count or the other 100 variations of that are you fucking thick? it's as clear as day, you don't need a diagram, you know you don't, you are just trying to be funny but failing miserably and are just annoying. About 1% of parking threads need a diagram totally made up statistic the rest do not!

Leave the kids with him and go to a spa - oh fuck off love he'll be drunk till Tuesday I'm not leaving my kids to fuck off to a spa
