There's a few but one I see often that just makes me Hmm is 'what if they were your kids?'.

It's obviously always said in response to someone who is not the child's parent and therefore surely a completely pointless argument?!

What others do you always see and eye roll at?

OP posts:
TrashKitten10 · 17/09/2020 19:24

'Strapping' Every bugger on mumsnet seems to have a 'strapping 6ft tall DS'.

Georgyporky · 17/09/2020 19:24

Posters commenting on spelling or grammatical errors.
I'm quite pedantic in RL (I have to be), but why not ignore the typos & either answer the question or ignore it?
Nothing is to be gained by belittling the poster.

SkyinthePie · 17/09/2020 19:25

PMSL - I nearly spat coffee all over the keyboard Grin

No you didn't. Well, not the second one anyway.

Ginger1982 · 17/09/2020 19:26

I hate it when posters say 'fixed that for you' and 'HTH' when they mean it in a bitchy way.

FranklyImCringeing · 17/09/2020 19:26

'Wow. Just wow'.

Surely the most pointless two sentences ever.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 17/09/2020 19:27

Envy (not envy) when it's so obvious.

"DS was just sick in my handbag Envy(not envy) "

Sounds so stupid!

TheDuchessofMalfy · 17/09/2020 19:28

I hate it when people start their posts with:
“Meh”
“Sigh”
“Shrug”
Or anything of that nature (I appreciate they don’t mean the same but they all annoy me)

“Sigh” - I want to convey that I know so much better than you, and think this will add authority to my post, and make other posters agree with me.

“Meh” and “shrug” - I want to convey that something that matters to you is not important and think this will make other posters agree with me.

x2boys · 17/09/2020 19:28

The goats thing on benefits threads ,it might have been funny and original once upon a time but it's not now Hmm

Sanitisethat · 17/09/2020 19:29

‘Are you on glue?’

Why do posters think this is funny? It wasn’t ever particularly amusing, and now that it’s been trotted out in response to literally any thread betraying even the slightest hint of eccentricity it is tedious beyond measure.

BlueThistles · 17/09/2020 19:29

What does HTH mean ? sorry that's a genuine question 🤔

iswhois · 17/09/2020 19:29

Adopt a retired greyhound

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 17/09/2020 19:30

@oohmama

'Get to fuck'
'I'd tell him to get to fuck'
Really? You'd say those words? Those exact words?? Because
A. I've never ever heard someone say that and
B. Where is fuck? Is it a place? Do you mean fuck

Get to (tae) fuck is a Scottish phrase.

Lucyccfc68 · 17/09/2020 19:30

‘Poor form’ to describe something shite. Sounds like something straight out of a Victorian novel about Toffs.

Smallsteps88 · 17/09/2020 19:30

“Urgent”
“Help”
“Am I pregnant?”
“Handhold needed”
“He’s an amazing father” Hmm

Rainbowb · 17/09/2020 19:30

I hate it when they focus on one word or phrase in the original post that they are going to object to and make it all about that rather than actually try to help the OP. It’s so nasty. People are often quite low and emotional when they create a post, they’re not always able to second guess how each word they choose will be analysed. They just need support.

ClementineWoolysocks · 17/09/2020 19:31

The absolute overuse of the word grim.

x2boys · 17/09/2020 19:33

Hope this Helps @BlueThistles HTH😂

DillonPanthersTexas · 17/09/2020 19:34

The stealth boasting.

"Well I don't have these problems because I made sure I married a considerate, thoughtful and emotionally mature man who treats me as an equal and pulls his weight around the house"

Or

"I manage the household bills"

As if such a task is akin to being CFO of a FTSE 100 listed company.

gingajewel · 17/09/2020 19:34

I hate hate hate when everyone describes there children as academic/academically gifted and then feel the need to say (They actually are, they are in the top 0.01% of the population for how bright they are, or some other bollocks) every kid on Mumsnet is academic and the parent has proof that they really are. It does my head in! Why can’t people just be truthful and say my kid is average/doing ok/is trying there hardest. Why is every child a mini Einstein??

x2boys · 17/09/2020 19:34

The armchair diagnosis,s of Narcissism , Autism, Dementia etc .

ArsenicNLace · 17/09/2020 19:35

It irritates the hell out of me when a poster asks for some very specific advice, usually something medical or legal requiring someone with some expert knowledge and the very first poster will reply saying, ' I'm not doctor/lawyer/mechanic etc' but in my opinion........' and go on to give their opinion on a situation they have no expert knowledge of. Why???

On a similar vein are the posters who comment on these posts by prefixing their response with 'my dad, dh, third cousin twice removed is a policeman/doctor etc etc so I think........' and again go on to give their opinion on the question again with no expert knowledge. Does being married to a doctor/policeman make you one too Confused.

iswhois · 17/09/2020 19:36

"NC as this is outing"

To then go on about the least outing thing ever

GotOutOfBedOnTheWrongSide · 17/09/2020 19:38

Some poor OP who is in shock and still digesting that her marriage of 20 odd years is over is getting henpecked and criticised for not walking out the door by page three of the thread

I agree! There was a thread a couple of months ago where the OP was upset that her dog had bitten her child completely out of the blue. The OP had put the dog outside and was comforting her son. People got really shitty because after a couple of hours the OP hadn't had the dog PTS or rehomed Hmm what the fuck was she meant to do at the very moment

Showers3 · 17/09/2020 19:38

“Can you show me the research for that please?” - generally from someone who’s ill informed views suggest they’ve never read an academic paper in their lives, let alone know how to critique it!

ssd · 17/09/2020 19:39

"this too shall pass"

Does my head in.
