So if poor people want to meet their extended families could they just club together to hire some land and claim they are chasing foxes followed by a nice pub lunch after? Would they be fined?

I am not surprised one bit. Disgusting murdering scum. Qq

Sunnyset · 14/09/2020 22:33

They don’t even pretend not to take the piss.
I burst out laughing when I read this, of course it will be exempt, bloody toffs.

ssd · 14/09/2020 22:35

You couldn't make it up.

Ijustdontcare · 14/09/2020 22:40

It's a bit of a misleading headline which as it's the Guardian is to be expected.
This is the wording from the government that allows this:

Organised sport or exercises classes or licensed outdoor physical activity. This does not include informal sport or fitness activity with family or friends – this must be limited to a group of 6.
Elite sporting competition and training

So this covers all organized sports such as football, rugby, cricket as well as the licensed outdoor shooting events.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 14/09/2020 22:42

But a mother in labour cant have someone there to support her

Maybe she should take a grouse or pheasant into the birthing suite??

Ijustdontcare · 14/09/2020 22:42

It's in the open air, separation probably 7 metres plus.

Your point is?

JalapenoDave · 14/09/2020 22:44

Vile.

PersonaNonGarter · 14/09/2020 22:44

Oh FFS. I hate the embarrassing class war stance.

Get over yourself. It’s a sport. (Granted a sport you don’t like, but a sport).

LowRow · 14/09/2020 22:46

It's exempt because it's an incredibly low transmission risk outdoor pursuit, which provides vital income for rural communities. Smile

Bloodsports aren't quite the same as a game of footy down the park...
Augustbreeze · 14/09/2020 22:47

Have you a link to the sources for that list, @Ijustdontcare ? It's not very wide and different from other things I've seen? Thanks

Ijustdontcare · 14/09/2020 22:49

Yep the link is section 3.16 on the official government page
www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do

CalmYoBadSelf · 14/09/2020 22:49

Yet again The Guardian twists a story to insinuate it's a class thing when it is being treated exactly the same as other sports. What a surprise...

TonytheDog · 14/09/2020 22:52

For fox sake. It's hardly surprising. You could just get a bunch of 6 year olds to make up some rules re Covid, although, they'd probably put Boris to shame. You've got to keep the idiot animal shooters happy though because what else are they going to do on Wednesday and Sunday? Apart from ruin the country, drink whisky and bray loudly. It's like living in a Chuck Palahniuk book.

StarchyStanley · 14/09/2020 22:58

Yeah...I'm no fan of hunting, or the Tories, but that headline is as bad as The Sun for ckickbaity headlines.

StarchyStanley · 14/09/2020 22:58

Clickbait*

Lockheart · 14/09/2020 23:01

It's exempt because it's an outdoor sport.

Shooting hasn't been given a special exemption just because it's shooting.

My yoga in the park is still going ahead on Wednesday. There'll be more than 6 of us there for sure!

Pobblebonk · 14/09/2020 23:01

This was the reason why they didn't release the regulations until 20 minutes before they came into effect, and didn't allow any parliamentary scrutiny. It's unbelievably incompetent.

Did you apply any critical thinking before going on that rant or do you just have verbal diarrhea?
StarchyStanley · 14/09/2020 23:02

You rampant right winger! Probably kill some cute, woodland creatures on the way will you Wink?

VeniVidiWeeWee · 14/09/2020 23:05

@TonytheDog

I presume you didn't bother reading ijustdontcare post.

BTW for fox sake makes no sense.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 14/09/2020 23:08

You can’t shoot on a Sunday, it’s not allowed.

MotheringShites · 14/09/2020 23:10

It’s one of many sports that are exempt but don’t let the truth get in the way of your righteous outrage.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 14/09/2020 23:14

@MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig

Yes you can.

But please don't let your prejudices get in the way of facts.
