To feel not witty enough for Mumsnet, but too witty for Netmums

They should make another middle of the ground site for people like me. 😂 Is it just me, or do people on Mumsnet seem more "middle class" than people on Netmums?

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 03/09/2020 10:23

Yes, there was a flurry of that - I think a lot of people took a look and weren't impressed either by the content or the methodology. Tbh I don't think they're a threat to MN and deleting threads which mention the name merely lends false glamour.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 03/09/2020 10:28

I thought this thread was about wit, not class.

giantangryrooster · 03/09/2020 10:30

Agree ErrolTheDragon, the new site is perhaps ok if you are heavily into royals, but otherwise no match for MN. Most chat over there is about mn, but then again I suspect a lot of their posters have been banned from here because of royal thread fall outs.

Sad really, if mn ban posters they should know people go elsewhere.

LittleBearPad · 03/09/2020 10:31

The moderation on MN has become more heavy handed in recent years than historically. There isn’t the lightness of touch there used to be. It’s a shame.

PollyPelargonium52 · 03/09/2020 10:32

Too many people on netmums say hun or hunny. Crass. Poorly written often too.

DoTheHotStuff · 03/09/2020 10:34

I thought the title of your thread was pretty witty Wink

The title is about wit, the OP is about class. Not really sure why they're linked in the OP's mind, except I suppose a written medium can lend itself to 'wit' in the form of wordplay, assumptions of shared cultural references etc? An SM analog of Radio 4 maybe?
AnneKipanki · 03/09/2020 10:36

Been over to look .
There are not many members . I do not know why Mumsnet feels threatened.
It is different.
I think some felt their opinions were not being heard here . Too many deleted posts and threads .

Maybe if it was signposted on MN as somewhere else women talk with little moderation the trolls, troublemakers and 'monitors' would bugger off there.
HOkieCOkie · 03/09/2020 10:41

What did I say? Lol my post is gone.

giantangryrooster · 03/09/2020 10:43

@HOkieCOkie i wondered how a post got deleted while being posted?
Was it very offensive? 🤣

Did you mention the MC site? There is an algorithm that instantly deletes. It happened to me upthread
HOkieCOkie · 03/09/2020 10:46

@ErrolTheDragon .

I think there are already several sites for that .

Absolutely agree. It's actually very boring. I think that the truth of the matter is that MNHQ are pissed off with some threads obsessing over Justine. And rightly so. It's all rather grubby.
GammyLeg · 03/09/2020 11:03

First I’ve heard of that other place 😮

There is a weirdly obsessive thread about Justine there. Weirdos.

Advicewouldbeappreciated · 03/09/2020 11:04

@MaskingForIt

What’s the difference between a Netmums user and a Mumsnet user?

About £30k and a Masters.

Funny, I don't remember being asked to complete a wittiness assessment when I signed up.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 03/09/2020 11:12

Well I agree with Pagwatch.

Wink
JayAlfredPrufrock · 03/09/2020 11:13

And please can someone pm me with the name of the other place. Ta.

AnneKipanki · 03/09/2020 11:16

I have heard that will mean a ban .

Flube · 03/09/2020 11:24

It will, that's if the pm hasn't been intercepted and deleted first. Blatant censorship.

If people aren't interested in it then fine, I'm not interested in many other forums. But if some people are interested in using both, then I don't see why it should be disallowed.

GreyShadow · 03/09/2020 11:24

@AnneKipanki what a ban for pming someone?? Where on earth did you hear that?
