AIBU to ask how often you change bedsheets?

I have a friend who does it every other day! This seems wayyyyy too much for me, once a week is the maximum as far as I'm concerned (unless it's children's sheets and there's been accidents obviously) and more frequently it ends up being once a fortnight Blush

So people of mumsnet, how long do you leave it?

@PerveenMistry - as well as timing exactly how long it takes you to do wasteful tasks, have you calculated how much water, soap and electricity you use?

DramaBananaRama · 01/09/2020 16:16

I'm single, shower before bed, wear pjs and not a sweaty person. Fortnightly ish. If I had a partner it'd be more often.

Walkaround · 01/09/2020 16:20

Ps @PerveenMistry - no need to answer that. I couldn’t resist teasing, what with your rocket science comment and all!

Fishyfinger · 01/09/2020 16:54

What is a doona?

I googled but just get prams.. 😂

JellyfishandShells · 01/09/2020 17:00

Weekly - though during that run of 30C days not long ago we did have some interim changes .

piscis · 01/09/2020 17:11

Every 3 weeks. I'd like to do it more often, every other week would be better I think, bit it is hardly happening.
I wash and change the pillowcases more often though.

TheHumanRubbishBin · 01/09/2020 17:17

We're supposed to change our bedsheets???

MrsToothyBitch · 01/09/2020 17:19

Every other week. That slot in the wash rotates between bedsheets and cleaning cloths. Partner there some of the time and we both sleep nude. I'd do it more if I didn't bloody loathe changing duvet covers. DP isn't always around to do it for me.

I can fit a bedding change & getting the laundry hung out round work if I have to but duvet covers are time consuming.

FirstTimeMummyDS88 · 01/09/2020 17:23

Every week usually on a Sunday morning

Serveuse · 01/09/2020 17:28

You guys have bedsheets??!
Walkaround · 01/09/2020 17:33

@Fishyfinger - I think a doona is an Australian duvet.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/09/2020 17:41

At least once a week, more often if the weather is very hot.
I love clean sheets and if I won the lottery I'd have clean sheets every day.

minnieok · 01/09/2020 17:44

@TwelvetyOClock
Same here, in theory isn't the same as in practice though. We don't have a dryer currently so I'm weather dependent too

phonez · 01/09/2020 17:51

Every 5 or so days..

phonez · 01/09/2020 17:51

But I am an insomniac and like crisp clean sheets.

makingmammaries · 01/09/2020 17:54

In winter, whenever the forecast is for dry weather.
In summer, every few weeks.

Crystal87 · 01/09/2020 17:57

Once or twice a week.

Skysblue · 01/09/2020 17:57

If you sleep nude, have night sweats and regular sex / breakfast in bed, every few days.

If you sleep in PJs, never sweat and do nothing messy in bed, don’t use hair products or sleep in make up, they could be fine for several weeks or more.

It’s pointless asking how often others change their sheets unless you’re also going to grill them on what they do in bed!

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 01/09/2020 18:04

What is a doona?
A duvet. Not sure why we call them doonas, that's language for you.

Ethelfleda · 01/09/2020 18:05

Fortnightly. And I’m still alive Wink

StripeyDeckchair · 01/09/2020 18:08

Bedding & towels are changed weekly.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 01/09/2020 18:16

I wash the sheet and pillowcase weekly, and the duvet cover every two weeks - ish - sometimes that might say on longer.
The week that it's just a sheet, that often gets washed in with clothes unless there's a big load, other wise I wash it the following week with the full set of bedlinen.
The mattress and pillow protectors probably washed every couple of months,

ScarMatty · 01/09/2020 18:22

Once a week

december9 · 01/09/2020 18:41

I was only wondering this earlier. Say Stacey Solomon on Instagram post “fresh new month ... fresh new sheets” was wondering does she only change her sheets once a month???
Here I change mine most weeks. DD usually every fortnight

Thefaceofboe · 01/09/2020 19:09

Sorry but doing it everyday is ludicrous
