AIBU to think that Boot cut jeans are back in?

I left the UK 11 years ago, I think skinnies were just coming into fashion at the time. Where we live now it is pretty hot all year round so rarely wear jeans.

We're moving back to the UK in November and I will need to do a fair bit of clothes shopping as I don't even own a winter coat. I've been looking online and noticed that Bootcut jeans seem to be in quite a few of them.

I look utterly crap in skinnies so if Bootcuts are no longer considered 'Mum Jeans' then my timing is impeccable.

@Mummyoflittledragon

I saw some for sale. Can’t remember where so did a google. According to NEXT they’re back.
I think they’re too short in these photos - that’s what shortens the leg (ok on a long legged model). The flare of the boot cut needs to start lower.

Thunder
I think the idea of not having them too long is to stop the break at the front, which distorts the shape and look. That said, they could be a touch longer.

@Bwlch

Snap. Same thought in my mind. Want to give them a go, but fear I'll look like myself 15 years ago.

Is that problem?

I have literally never looked at someone's clothes and thought to myself "gosh they look dated". I occasionally see someone who looks really good in what they are wearing and think it would be nice if I could dress myself like that/wonder where they got the clothes from, but that's the limit of my thoughts about other people's clothes. Do others really walk around noting outfits and thinking people look "dated"? I never stopped wearing boot cut jeans as they suit me and my bottom half looks ridiculous in skinnies.

@MaybeIDidMaybeIDidnt

Tons of young and trendy teens wearing bootcuts round here, my skinnies are so 'last year' and apparently I need to 'get with the programme' according to DD 🙄
They are charming Grin!

If you looked too trendy she would probably hate that too! Teenager m.o.

I work near a university so see lots of young women and notice what they wear - pre-lockdown I do remember seeing quite a few of them in black bootleg trousers, chunky white Fila trainers and puffa jackets but they were more black trousers than jeans. When I was at uni it was peak Sienna Miller era with cowboy boots and furry gilets Grin

University for me I think was bootcut jeans, with canvas trainers, mini denim skirts with knee boots and lots of hoodies in muted colours. Scruffy was the thing then, but I used to care so much about exactly what scruffy outfit I was going to wear that day Confused.

I took a selfie of myself in skinnies and bootcuts the results were really cringe and turned me off skinnies forever. I’m pear shaped and skinnies make me look much dumpier. I look taller and thinner in bootcuts. I also get them hemmed slightly shorter at the front so they’re long enough to fully cover the heel at the back, but break correctly across the front of the shoe. I know, I’m obsessive!

Dorothy Perkins do longer length jeans and they are relatively cheap
I think their quality has gone downhill. I had a pair of their Frankie jeans which had faded so I got another pair but the material isn't the same and the arse is almost threadbare after no time.

Just bought a superdry Parker. It's so warm, waterproof, has a hood and draw strings inside so it can fit properly. And covers my bum. Love it

I’ve always just worn what I wanted. I do wear skinnies but only if I’m tucking them into uggs or boots. I wear bootcut for my other shoes.
