Generally speaking I hate conspiracy theories, but is there anything out there that’s passed off as a conspiracy theory that you think holds some weight? I personally have some questions about the assassination of JFK.

I watched the segment in question. At the time. Whether it was a miscommunication because the building was in danger of collapsing and it was erroneously reported as having collapsed has never been properly addressed as far as I have seen. It could be easily explained perhaps and I agree it's unlikely to be a conspiracy in the sense you imply. Maybe it has been. It's a while since I checked any of it.

Many people are still unaware that three buildings all collapsed that day.

Ooh, thanks to those who have looked further into my unexplained photo mystery.

US knowing abouot Pearl Harbour and 9/11 beforehand, both times badly needed apretext to enter the war and justify it, and the arm business bloomed, it's a no brainer to me.

I certainly believe that 'we' knew about the Pearl Harbour attack beforehand, we had the best cipher and code breakers in the business, Churchill took the decision to withhold the information to allow Roosevelt to bring the US into WW2.

sashh · 01/09/2020 07:49

Churchill took the decision to withhold the information to allow Roosevelt to bring the US into WW2.

Now that sounds plausible.

Roosevelt had also just cut of the supplies of oil to Japan so some form or reaction must have been expected and the most obvious place would be as close to Japan as possible ie Hawaii.

I read a book about the Cuban Missile Crisis, can't remember who it was by but it was a well respected historian.

The book stated that, in the run up to the Bay of Pigs debacle, the top military officers tried to persuade JFK to shoot down a US passenger plane and blame it on the Cubans, so that the US had an excuse to invade Cuba. JFK refused. I wouldnt be surprised if this has happened at other key moments in history, but I don't think 9/11 was one of them.

@contrmary That’s not just conspiracy theory bullshit, that’s vile. How dare you call the parents who lost their children that day liars (because that is what you are saying - that people like Mick North have lied about losing their child.) vile.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 01/09/2020 09:28

Also if Nelson Mandela died in the 1980’s how did he meet the Spice Girls and appear on Groundforce?

FOKKYFC · 01/09/2020 09:29

(Rubs hands together briskly) Well, that's that reported. There's conspiracy theories and then there's batshit revolting statements like that. You think the deaths of dozens of toddlers was staged in order to tighten up gun laws? Where are these children, pray? How much did they pay their parents to behave like shells of themselves for twenty odd years? Shame on you.

It’s was a great show of the 90’s.

That made me laugh! Exactly!

@Handsoffisback I think you may be waiting a long time

Jourdain11 · 01/09/2020 13:12

You never know... any moment now, someone may be along to tell us about how they happened to be in Paris that evening and personally say Prince Phil slinking around the car, tinkering with the brakes or what. And then paying an agent to sleep extra vodka into the drinks.

HandfulofDust · 01/09/2020 13:15

I find it extremely distasteful when the know nothings spout bollocks about not just 9/11 but the others events where people were murdered by terrorist activity.

Yes. Especially since the aim of a conspiracy theory is basically to bolster someone's fragile ego (they know better than experts, they're not a sheep like everyone else).

PhilSwagielka · 01/09/2020 15:08

Fuck me running, someone actually thinks Dunblane was a fake. I knew people were saying that about Sandy Hook, but not Dunblane.

cheesecrackersandchips · 01/09/2020 15:39

There was an AMA from one of the mums of a child killed in Dunblane. It was incredible.

I think of her (and others affected) often.

Also if you ever hear Judy Murray being interviewed she talks about it too.

Janus · 01/09/2020 18:07

Cheese - I remember that AMA too, it’s was heartbreaking. Andy Murray has also talked about it once as he was in another classroom as it happened, he broke down talking about it, it was painful to see.

Actually @Handsoffisback ......I just read your post after logging on to see what is happening tonight. Your post just hit me between the eyes, and I am thick-skinned so that bullet must have been revolving fast and your bullet is diamond-sharp.

I say this. Is God the biggest conspiracy theory ever?

Just putting it out there. Has any other poster raised God, or any other deity, as a conspiracy theory? In fact religion, full stop?
