When did you start getting grey hair?

I was having a conversation with a friend a few days ago, she started getting her first grey hairs in her early 20's and has been dying them for approx 10yrs now. I found my first few strands at my temples in January at the age of 35. I thought I was doing well to reach that age before getting my first greys, but my husband (who is 13yrs older BTW) thinks it's very young as he only has them in his stubble, he does have them in his hair but won't admit it!!! 😂 😂 So what does everyone else think??

One or two in the last couple of years. I'm 59, fair hair so they don't really show.

Littlemissdaredevil · 15/08/2020 22:05

I’m 40 and no grey yet. I was complimented at the hairdressers Grin. I’m naturally I dark blonde so I think that helps

Fairymaryprincess · 15/08/2020 22:06

I was 27 when the first couple appeared, 5 years on and there's quite a few more but not hugely noticeable as they seem to be in my middle layer so top layer mostly covers (I hope) 😕

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 15/08/2020 22:07

Mid-20s. Now 100% grey at 50. I dye mine.

sitckmansladylove · 15/08/2020 22:08

I have none and I am in my 40s.

SexyGiraffe · 15/08/2020 22:09

I'm 43 and only have a very few so far.

rattusrattus20 · 15/08/2020 22:12

the absolute first one ever was at about 38. now 44, have few enough to get away with plucking them, but I'm probably starting to see the end of the road for that solution

blubellsarebells · 15/08/2020 22:12

At about 14 or 15.
Early 30s now and stopped dying my hair over a year ago, I did nearly cave a couple of times but I love my hair now its grown out and get lots of compliments about it.

Phoebesgift · 15/08/2020 22:12

Late 30s. I know a little girl of 8 of Indian heritage with a couple of grey hairs already.

DoTheNextRightThing · 15/08/2020 22:13

My first grey hairs appeared at 16. I'm 24 now and it's still only a few on the top of my head (that I can see anyway).

BoxAndKnife · 15/08/2020 22:19

Late 30s I think.

I am now 47 and completely grey. I stopped dyeing it about 3 years ago - had it cropped very short and chopped all the various crappy box dyes out. I'd got so bored of trying to cover up something that was natural and actually rather beautiful.

I now have a head of shoulder-length silver-grey hair, in beautiful condition, which gets far more compliments than my dyed hair ever did. I love it, completely liberating.

Barbadosgirl · 15/08/2020 22:19

I thought I had none but then in lockdown eyebrow threading/waxing was not available and the fuckers started growing through grey. Outraged. Am 40.

kazliz · 15/08/2020 22:20

I started getting grey hairs in my late 20s and do not dye my hair. My hairdresser says I am lucky as people would love my colouring. Must admit I like it to.

Enchantmentz · 15/08/2020 22:26

29/now pure white rsther than grey, my db and her sister went pure grey and white in early twenties.

Enchantmentz · 15/08/2020 22:27

Typed with left thumb, pure white rather than grey. And dm and her sisterBlush

SockQueen · 15/08/2020 22:36

I found my first one on my wedding day aged 27! Grin Spotted a few more over the years but always few and far between until the post-partum regrowth after DS2 last year, which is adding a lot more greys. I'm now 36.

DH is the same age and has been greying since a similar age but much more rapidly. Less obvious on him though, as he was always a fairly mousy colour and it's not that different, whereas mine is quite deep brown so grey stands out more.

HalfBearOtherHalfCat · 15/08/2020 22:44
  1. Coincidentally the year after I had DS Hmm

I have almost black hair, so the white (and it is snow white rather than gray) is very noticeable. I'm 40 next year, and with the big white streaks I'm starting to look a bit like a skunk now!

CatFaceCats · 15/08/2020 22:45

Almost 39 and dark brown hair. I have none.

22Giraffes · 15/08/2020 22:47

Only in the last year, but I keep finding more and more since lockdown. I am early 30's.

They are only at the front of my hair and they are bright white, and really brittle. I pick them out Blush coz there's not enough to dye them.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/08/2020 22:59

I found one at about 32, pulled it out and didn't find more for a few years
Approaching 40 and I'm aware of about 4 or 5 that I've noticed since lockdown. I don't colour my hair other than a temporary wash in late winter when the colour goes dull. My hair has very varied tones so hopefully I can go a good while with them blending in... they are thicker than the naturally blonde strands.

DH hasn't noticed any yet... I assume that comments will be made when he notices as he was already clearly going grey with tufts and a good peppering when I met him in his late 20s. 20 years later and it's more a case of spot the black hairs.

And what is it about the white, wirey fucker that grows out of my chin out of nowhere???

Changeisneeded · 15/08/2020 23:02

I noticed my first early this year and a handful since then but it’s still a rarity rather than being noticeable by others.

Melabells · 15/08/2020 23:03

I got my firs grey at 19 and now at 29 have a proper white streak in my hair/ thinning badly thanks to postpartum hair loss 😭

Xmasbaby11 · 15/08/2020 23:10

I'm 44 and noticed 1 or 2 in the last year but my hair is light brown, so it's not noticeable.

BathshebaAndGabriel · 15/08/2020 23:18

I am now almost completely white but with thick black eyebrows.
I look like Alistair Darling.

cantstopsinginglittlebabybum · 15/08/2020 23:24

35 and have none.
