'chester freezer'

I'm not defending chester draws, but at least I can understand how it happened.

I've just seen someone talk about their 'chester freezer' on Facebook. There's no excuse.

Do they mean like a chest freezer? Like you might have as an additional freezer if needed.

LittleBearPad · 15/08/2020 14:38

Come on - it’s quite easy. It freezes chesters.

Ha Ha, my favourite is "to all in tents and purpose"
I have seen "Day jar vue" as well.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 15/08/2020 14:40

I always wonder if these people ever go to Chester and wonder where they make all the drawers. And now freezers.

KitKatastrophe · 15/08/2020 14:41

Not as bad as "bansi castle" see on fb marketplace recently.

ChangeThePassword · 15/08/2020 14:42

Omg @KitKatastrophe, that took me a moment! I'm guessing you are in London? I can't think of anywhere else bansi would work for that!

I always like 'Wallah!" As in a description of a house "You walk into the living room and... wallah! A beautiful inglenook fireplace". Grin

My friend once asked me how to spell ordepens as in "it all depends". She works in educationBlush.

toria658 · 15/08/2020 14:45

Or an item that is ‘pacifically made for the disabled’.

South East so similar to London accent. Still "bouncy" definitely has an "ounce" sound, nothing like an "an" sound.

Wallah is arabic and it beautifully fits into that sentence 😂😂😂 "You walk into the living room and... I promise by god (as in not lying)! A beautiful inglenook fireplace"

😂😂😂

mnahmnah · 15/08/2020 15:02

I can confirm that here in Chester we have all the drawers. We are now also branching out into freezers.

ExCoffeeAddict · 15/08/2020 15:04

On suite was one I heard recently which isnt bad at all

Play it by hear .... again close but...no

I honestly cannot stand when i see "draws" or "draw" meaning drawers or drawer sets my teeth on edge!!

userabcname · 15/08/2020 15:07

Not sure if it was real but someone on Facebook shared a photo of a sign outside a business saying "if you park here your car will be TOAD!" I quite liked that.

mnahmnah · 15/08/2020 15:08

@ExCoffeeAddict

Similarly, I hate it when people write ‘on route’ rather than ‘en route’

And ‘squash’ rather than ‘quash’

IndieTara · 15/08/2020 15:09

Recently on FB I saw 'he's in cloud cu cu land' !

1forAll74 · 15/08/2020 15:11

I have always liked these mistakes that some people make when they describe or write something wrong,or amusing.

x2boys · 15/08/2020 15:12

Someone once commented on Facebook that her son looked very swarve in his new school uniform.

Cupidity · 15/08/2020 15:12

I'm Facebook friends with someone who has become a MLM bot. At the moment she's into selling overpriced vitamins. Every single post is about how they are 'fantastic at boosting your emun system, and could help fight covid'

It took me a few weeks to realise that emun is immune

LakieLady · 15/08/2020 15:14

Orderves instead of hors d'oeuvres.

Indivincable instead of indefensible.

OilBaron · 15/08/2020 15:14

I've recently been looking at chests of drawers recently and because I see 'chester drawers' on here so much, I actually have to stop and think which is correct nowadays Grin

I genuinely thought the term was 'escape goat' until earlier this year. I thought it came from an old medieval saying when people who'd committed crimes would escape from a town on a goat. So an 'escape goat' was the poor goat who had to carry a big fat criminal on its back all through the countryside. I have no idea where I got the story from but I much prefer my 'escape goat' to the correct 'scapegoat' Grin

Sparklfairy · 15/08/2020 15:15

This may be a quote fail but

"Wallah is arabic and it beautifully fits into that sentence 😂😂😂
"You walk into the living room and... I promise by god (as in not lying)! A beautiful inglenook fireplace"*

I love this, especially the irony that with where I live the people that would use this term would also vote to have everyone non white and non English removed from this country immediately.

Ugh. I hate Facebook and avoid it unless I need to sell something. Then I come back and vent about spelling or manners here Grin

KerbsideViolet · 15/08/2020 15:16

My friend once asked me how to spell ordepens as in "it all depends"

My colleague asked me how to spell ADHD

Monkeynuts18 · 15/08/2020 15:17

The worst one is ‘Pacific’ to mean ‘specific’.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 15/08/2020 15:17

Similarly, I hate it when people write ‘on route’ rather than ‘en route’

YES YES YES - I thought I might be the last person in the UK still spelling it en route. Glad I'm not.
