'chester freezer'

I'm not defending chester draws, but at least I can understand how it happened.

I've just seen someone talk about their 'chester freezer' on Facebook. There's no excuse.

I have one friend who insists on using sammich instead of sandwich. You are 52 years old, FFS, it does not make you seem 'cute'!

This was a new one to me, so I thought I'd share. Human cry. Any guesses?

Hue and cry.

Oh, and utmost/upmost have completely different meanings.

Just seen someone ask for Chester drawers on my local Freecycle. Had she asked for a chest of drawers and asked please, I'd consider offering.

On another request someone asking for a walldrop.

Yesterday several news reporters kept pronouncing "communal" as " commOOnul". Our elocution teacher at school was insistent that it had a short "u" with the stress on the first syllable.

Iamnotinterested how should latte be pronounced as I suppose it could depend on regional accents.

Some people I know say laaaahty, others latty (rhymes with batty) - are either of those correct?

"Chase lounge" "chais lounge" "chase long" for 'Chaise Longue'!
Really irritating!

I can't stand it when people say 'bought' instead of 'brought'. Really, did you buy it?

Noticed several posters using’ bare with me’ today. Grrrr!!
Also ‘he done wrong’.
I itch to issue corrections but don’t want to be perceived as a pedant.

Ooh I hate that too! In coffee shops, "Can I get a lar-tay?"

Don't even get me started on how the majority pronounce 'latte'...

Another mnemonic for 'diarrhoea' is 'Dash in a rush, run, hurry or else accident'.

Although my spellchecker keeps telling me that spelling 'diarrhoea' like that is incorrect. Is it different in the US? (The spelling, that is)..

@CaptainMyCaptain "pass the buck" and "the buck stops here" both come from poker. They're quite old (from fairly lawless Wild West times). An object like a knife with a buck handle would be passed around the table to keep track of whose turn it was to deal.

I saw a post about 'passing the book' on Facebook this morning. Mind you, I'm not sure what the 'buck' refers to.

This one is probably an Americanism rather than a mistake but it annoys me intensely.

So fun!

It's either 'so much fun' or 'such fun'.
