'chester freezer'

I'm not defending chester draws, but at least I can understand how it happened.

I've just seen someone talk about their 'chester freezer' on Facebook. There's no excuse.

I've seen more than one otter man bed listed on various sites. I'm not sure why an otter man needs a special sort of bed.

I've also seen bike peddles listed.

When granddaughter had been on an outdoor pursuits weekend she talked about kayaking and I asked if they had worn life jackets. No, apparently they had a Beyonce aid.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 15/08/2020 16:55

I follow someone on instagram who writes (and says in her stories)

Wallah (said with a flourish) when she means Voila

RedLlama · 15/08/2020 17:02

Some one in my slimming world Facebook group, has strawberry moose quite often

littlealexhorne · 15/08/2020 17:03

My favourite was once seeing someone selling 'shit sue' puppies

Thelittleweasel · 15/08/2020 17:04

@LakieLady - horses doofers?

@IndieTara - fantastically well educated "Old English" ... "lude sing cucu"!

mrsBtheparker · 15/08/2020 17:04

Not being a music fan it was a while until I realised that a member of a group I heard as 'in excess' was actually in INXS which I would have said as Inks!

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 15/08/2020 17:06

Now I'm wondering if I've been pronouncing Voilà wrong my entire life. I say it with a V at the beginning so couldn't spell it Wallah because that wouldn't make sense. Should it be a W at the beginning?

lazylinguist · 15/08/2020 17:09

The v is softer than a v at the beginning of an English word, to the point that it's often barely noticeable.

SpeckledyHen · 15/08/2020 17:09

On a forum I frequent I see alot a lot!

lazylinguist · 15/08/2020 17:09

And it's the 'oi' that makes the 'wah' sound.

SirGawain · 15/08/2020 17:09

The one that irritates me the most is: "Off my own back".
it hpould be: "Off my own bat".

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 15/08/2020 17:11

Oh yes it's a softer v. (I'm sitting in my lounge saying Voilà and making v sounds much to ds2 amusement). But it is a v?
newtb · 15/08/2020 17:11

And then the men of a certain age with 'prostrate' problems.

hamstersarse · 15/08/2020 17:12

I find it hard to read these threads because it makes me actually forget what the correct versions are.

Because of general bad spelling and grammar out there, I am not unsure which one of these is correct:

Hear hear or here here

Can someone please clarify.

Naticus · 15/08/2020 17:12

Carnt instead of can't, actually making the word longer than it needs to be 😒

SirGawain · 15/08/2020 17:12

Sorry should be. Hoisted on my own petard. Blush

SirGawain · 15/08/2020 17:13

Pacific instead of specific.

DeeTractor · 15/08/2020 17:14

People who type things like "discusting", "gorgiss", and my absolute favourite "carnt" don't fucking deserve rights.

DoctorYang · 15/08/2020 17:16

Had someone on FB describe her new hair cut as "so fisticated"

Ibake · 15/08/2020 17:16

@hamstersarse it's hear hear and it's short for hear him hear him.

We was going instead of, we were going.
