AIBU or is saving curry a bit weird

Never known anyone to keep leftover takeaway for the next day until DP - always thought it was a one night treat. Think it's a bit odd - is it?

We always order an extra meal from the Chinese/Indian and freeze it, it’s like a midweek treat, boil our own rice to go with it, delicious!

LakieLady · 14/08/2020 21:10

I love leftover curry. So does the dog.

She tends to win, on account of mournful eyes and the persistency that terriers are renowned for.

@lookatallthosechickens

Also- top tip for reheating pizza: hot, dry frying pan (not nonstick, because you’ll ruin the coating at the temp you need) with a lid. When you can just start to smell the crust getting toasty it’s ready. Crispy crust, re-melted cheese, hot toppings. Better than when it was delivered usually. Only problem is that you can only do 2-3 slices at a time depending on size of your pan.
To my great horror DD reheats her left over pizza-

Cold for breakfast is the only way to eat leftover pizza

this is purely hypothetical as there is never any leftover pizza

spacepoppers · 14/08/2020 21:12

NOT saving curry is a bit weird to be honest.

SRS29 · 14/08/2020 21:13

Just put daughters left over lamb korma and rice in the fridge about 10 mins ago!

Come on. Back @rOsie80 and tell us exactly how many people you actually know, I'm going to guess 2 other and they are under 5, no other adult doesn't know this
Deadringer · 14/08/2020 21:15

I don't like leftover takeaway curry but dh does so it doesn't go to waste.

Glamazoni · 14/08/2020 21:15

What would you do with the other half of your takeaway - just throw it away?! I suppose there are some people who eat an entire takeaway in one go 😳

Top tip: make a breakfast omelette filled with leftover curry, it’s amazing.

RainbowMum11 · 14/08/2020 21:15

Always save leftover takeaways with the exception of chips, always better the next day!

lilgreen · 14/08/2020 21:15

Yabu. Everyone does it. So much better the next day.

Watermelontea · 14/08/2020 21:16

YABVU - Left over curry with a warm chapati is amazing.

vampirethriller · 14/08/2020 21:16

I get extra for the next day if I have takeaway.

CathyorClaire · 14/08/2020 21:17

If you don't fancy it the next day it can always be frozen.

I'll get me skanky coat Grin

Slippy78 · 14/08/2020 21:17

Completely normal. YABVU.

DontBeShelfish · 14/08/2020 21:19

Yeah sorry, leaping on the leftovers bandwagon. Plus I don't think there are any calories in cold curry, are they? That's what I thought.

MilerVino · 14/08/2020 21:19

What is weird however is what an ex boyfriend of mine used to do. Which was to pile all of the curry, rice, naan on a plate. Eat half, then put the plate on the floor (not in the fridge), overnight, then eat the leftovers that hadn't been in the fridge cold off the floor for breakfast.

I don't think it needs refrigerating but clearly this was a man who'd never found slug trails across his living room floor.

unmarkedbythat · 14/08/2020 21:20

Why wouldn't you? Throwing food out is awful and next day curry is lush.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 14/08/2020 21:21

Takeaway curry for Breakfast is the food of the Gods

Multiplying2020 · 14/08/2020 21:21

I freeze the leftovers in portions and reheat it for work - much tastier than the local sandwich shop and saves me a few quid - YABU

GetTheDoorFrank · 14/08/2020 21:22

Leftover curry is amazing be it an indian or a chinese one. I also make soup and mince or spag bol and always make a wee bit more so there is some left to leave some for the next day as 2nd day serving is even better than the first

AdelaideK · 14/08/2020 21:22

It's weird you find it weird.

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/08/2020 21:22

I order extra so there's some left for the next day!

WatchingFromTheWings · 14/08/2020 21:22

I do it all the time! By the time you add the onion bhajis, the poppedoms, the naan bread etc, I can't eat a whole curry! And it does taste waaaaay nicer reheated the following day!

itsamadmadworld · 14/08/2020 21:23

I always get the meal for two from my local Indian place. I eat as much as I can for dinner, then put it all in a big tub mixed together (usually three different curries in there) the next day I take it to work (eat outside so no smells!). Absolutely divine. The heat from the spicy curries has gone and it's got a totally different texture. Now I'm considering ordering curry 🤤

FattyBoom · 14/08/2020 21:24

NOT saving curry is a bit weird!! It's nice heated up but even better cold.....
