AIBU or is saving curry a bit weird

Never known anyone to keep leftover takeaway for the next day until DP - always thought it was a one night treat. Think it's a bit odd - is it?

My OH saves pretty much everything and has it for lunch the next day.

I, on the other hand, have emetophobia so the only think I'll save and eat the next day is pizza (as long as there is no meat on it).

I think he's brave, he thinks I'm weird Grin

I love a cold/reheated/toasted peshwari nan for breakfast. Lovely!

Flamingolingo · 05/11/2020 07:42

In fact, in the good old days (before pandemic) when DH are out on business (a lot), if it was curry I would request he bring a peshwari nan home!

canceltheonioncheque · 05/11/2020 08:02

@PleasantVille

I wouldn't be eating that curry, it's nearly 3 months old Shock

Yes, nobody wants a 3 month old curry!

BoudicasBoudoir · 05/11/2020 08:24

YABU. Leftover curry is breakfast.

midnightstar66 · 05/11/2020 08:34

What? Why would you throw away perfectly good food. It's a waste, plus it's common knowledge curry tastes even better the next day. YABVU

midnightstar66 · 05/11/2020 08:37

Also if there's only little bits left in each container that seem not worth saving just throw it all in to one and have a curry medley the next day. Might order curry at the weekend now!

JustMeAndMyTins · 05/11/2020 08:45

I beg your pardon! A bit must ALWAYS be saved for lunch the next day. I have my leftover curry from last night waiting in the fridge as we speak

JustMeAndMyTins · 05/11/2020 08:46

Oh @midnightstar66 I miss a curry medley. I don’t have them now I’m single.

Quaagars · 05/11/2020 08:58

Nope, you're the odd one, not your DH Grin
Nowt wrong with a curry the next day.
Yum

Now think how many times your DH has been ill due to leftover takeaway (I bet it's rarely or never) and see what you're missing out on.

Probably more than half of what I eat is leftovers, because takeaway and restaurant portions are always at least two, sometimes 3 meals for me, and I also batch cook for lunches - I did a brisket in the slow cooker yesterday and while it is gorgeous, I could tell that DP wasn't keen (philistine) so I've now got lots of lovely slow cooked spicy brisket, refried beans, coriander rice and guacamole which will do lunch today, tomorrow and probably another meal or bits for the freezer without having to cook again - bonus.

Oldraver · 05/11/2020 09:38

I make a sandwich with nan bread stuffed with cold curry rice as and a bhaji

midnightstar66 · 05/11/2020 20:31

Sussexbonfireviking · 05/11/2020 20:33

We love last nights curry so much, we actually get a takeaway on Christmas eve, and have it for Christmas lunch!!

wizzbangfizz · 05/11/2020 20:39

We always keep leftover takeout Confused do you not keep any "leftovers"?

userxx · 05/11/2020 20:52

Dirty talk. I like it.

OldCow1 · 05/11/2020 23:31

Fine to eat next day

@lookatallthosechickens

Also- top tip for reheating pizza: hot, dry frying pan (not nonstick, because you’ll ruin the coating at the temp you need) with a lid. When you can just start to smell the crust getting toasty it’s ready. Crispy crust, re-melted cheese, hot toppings. Better than when it was delivered usually. Only problem is that you can only do 2-3 slices at a time depending on size of your pan.
Why did I miss this absolute GEM of advice, @lookatallthosechickens - you are amazing!
