AIBU or is saving curry a bit weird

Never known anyone to keep leftover takeaway for the next day until DP - always thought it was a one night treat. Think it's a bit odd - is it?

OP posts:
CodenameVillanelle · 14/08/2020 20:36

What's he suppose to do - eat it all even if he's full??
I always keep half my takeaway for the next day when I get one. A starter and a main and rice is so much food - it's two portions.

Badassmama · 14/08/2020 20:38

Yabvvvu, next day curry is treat of kings.

Danetobe · 14/08/2020 20:39

There’s always a lengthy negotiation over the leftover curry in this house. It’s amazing, try it!

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 14/08/2020 20:42

Why wouldn't you save any leftover food? Why throw it away? Leftover curry is brilliant.

CaptainHammer · 14/08/2020 20:42

What?! Why waste perfectly good and delicious food?! Chinese the next day is even better!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 14/08/2020 20:43

Our favourite takeaway does massive portions, DH gets two nights out of his (and he has a big appetite) and I get three! It'd be such a waste to throw it away but we'd never eat it all in one go. I love that a takeaway provides quick and easy meals for several nights, feels better value for money too.

Oysterbabe · 14/08/2020 20:43

We never have leftovers. If we did I'd save it.

pictish · 14/08/2020 20:44

What are you on about? Of course you save leftover curry for the next day! Why on earth would you throw it away?

speakout · 14/08/2020 20:44

Totally normal here.

Put in the fridge as soon as it is cool, eat as a midnight snack or next day for lunch.

IwishIwasyoda · 14/08/2020 20:44

Sorry OP, you are the odd one! Saved curry is great

pictish · 14/08/2020 20:45

Ohhh haha! I think the OP has her answer.

toodlepipsqueaks · 14/08/2020 20:46

Is it just the curry part you find odd, OP, or are you generally not a big leftover person?

Probably YANBU if the latter, but if the former YAdefinitelyBU. Curry's great the next day!

TheSecondMrsAshwell · 14/08/2020 20:46

Just finished a chickpea curry with potato cakes - going in the freezer when I wash up.

Always have a Chinese mash-up breakfast here. Must mix all dishes into the pan and serve with leftover rice!

ChangeThePassword · 14/08/2020 20:48

You are the odd one.

Your DP has it right.

This didn't go the way you expected, but you'll thank us tomorrow when you are having leftover curry Wink

GoshHashana · 14/08/2020 20:48

80% of the reason I get curry is to have the leftovers the next day!

ClementineWoolysocks · 14/08/2020 20:48

Of course it's not weird Confused

SonjaMorgan · 14/08/2020 20:49

I love leftover curry for breakfast. I also reheat rice and have never had food poisoning.

Smarshian · 14/08/2020 20:50

Love leftover curry for brunch - yum!

IAmTooBloodyHot · 14/08/2020 20:51

Sorry OP, it's seems you are the weird one Wink

justasking111 · 14/08/2020 20:52

We always have leftover chinese, goes in fridge for hungry teenager who eats at weird hours. I admit to saving the FR for the dogs who love it on their nuts the next day.

Washingeveryday · 14/08/2020 20:52

Yabu, it's normal to save some for the next day.

What is weird however is what an ex boyfriend of mine used to do. Which was to pile all of the curry, rice, naan on a plate. Eat half, then put the plate on the floor (not in the fridge), overnight, then eat the leftovers that hadn't been in the fridge cold off the floor for breakfast.

Envy how he never got food poisoning I don't know.

Griefmonster · 14/08/2020 20:53

YABVVVVVU

WombOfOnesOwn · 14/08/2020 20:53

We usually eat the meats or paneer or kofta from the curry on the first day, and then on the second day, we medium boil up some eggs from our backyard flock and then cook them gently in the leftover curry sauces. Food of the gods! Egg curry is common enough in India, but not done on too many menus elsewhere, so it's a nice refresh of a previous evening meal.

RandyLionandDirtyDog · 14/08/2020 20:53

I always buy extra so I can have leftovers another day.
Yum. 😋
