AIBU or is saving curry a bit weird

Never known anyone to keep leftover takeaway for the next day until DP - always thought it was a one night treat. Think it's a bit odd - is it?

YABVU. That is all.

BestOption · 14/08/2020 20:25

I prefer to order a couple of different curries & 'sides' and have it over 2/3 nights than just have one single curry.

Why would you just throw it away if there's any left over?

skippy67 · 14/08/2020 20:26

YABU.

MinnieMousse · 14/08/2020 20:26

Always. There is far too much in a take-away portion. Even when I have one from the supermarket I have some left over. I have the leftovers for lunch the next day. It's always better after being left overnight anyway.

Bluntness100 · 14/08/2020 20:26

Do you just eat it all or throw it out? Everyone I know saves rhe left overs. And eats it for breakfast...

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/08/2020 20:26

What else would you do with it?

Chocolateandamaretto · 14/08/2020 20:27

Leftover curry is the breakfast of kings!

zigzagbetty · 14/08/2020 20:27

Shock just Shock

alliejay81 · 14/08/2020 20:27

I always buy two extra portions of Taarka Dhal and freeze them. I then use the extra dhal as a side with homemade curry. (My dhal is rubbish - think I buy the wrong lentils).

Oblomov20 · 14/08/2020 20:28

You are mad. If there is any leftovers.... the next morning is better than life itself!

Lelophants · 14/08/2020 20:28

Yabu. It taste amazing the next day and ugh hate waste.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/08/2020 20:28

Haven’t had takeaway since covid began, but I used to buy enough for three nights when I did. A mix of curries and a large rice.

Drivingdownthe101 · 14/08/2020 20:28

Highlight of an Indian takeaway is having the leftovers for lunch the next day.
Why on earth would it be weird? We save the leftovers of most things, if there are any.

MilerVino · 14/08/2020 20:28

We keep any leftovers for the next day. Does taste nicer and why waste it if you can't eat all of it in one sitting, which quite often we can't.

TooMinty · 14/08/2020 20:29

I'm even weirder because I freeze left over take away and reheat next time I CBA cooking!

Hardbackwriter · 14/08/2020 20:29

Hang on, are there people who throw leftover curry away??? Shock

GrumpyHoonMain · 14/08/2020 20:30

If you get yours from a restaurant frequented by South Asians then it’s likely that Curry would have been freshly made that day. Many restaurants start making the sauces at 3am every day.

ProudMarys · 14/08/2020 20:30

Yabu! Curry is even nicer the next day!

lookatallthosechickens · 14/08/2020 20:31

We don’t do cheap takeaway- we get stuff from nice restaurants (usually Thai) and the fact that it’s more than enough for two meals justifies the price. We also reheat rice or noodle dishes in a hot pan and reheat things like spring rolls in the oven - no microwave. It’s always better reheated.

Holothane · 14/08/2020 20:32

I buy a huge pizza and freeze what I don’t eat that night love it, I also have leftover next day king prawn fried rice, never been ill either.

SpongebobNoPants · 14/08/2020 20:33

YABVVVVVVVVVU
Leftover curry is the best!

TheAquaticDuchess · 14/08/2020 20:34

Surely you wouldn’t just bin the leftovers? That would be so wasteful!

QueSera · 14/08/2020 20:34

What would you do with leftovers, bin them?! What a waste of food and money!

Ilovesandwiches · 14/08/2020 20:34

Weirder to get rid of perfectly good food which will be ok!

lookatallthosechickens · 14/08/2020 20:35

Also- top tip for reheating pizza: hot, dry frying pan (not nonstick, because you’ll ruin the coating at the temp you need) with a lid. When you can just start to smell the crust getting toasty it’s ready. Crispy crust, re-melted cheese, hot toppings. Better than when it was delivered usually. Only problem is that you can only do 2-3 slices at a time depending on size of your pan.
