AIBU or is saving curry a bit weird

Never known anyone to keep leftover takeaway for the next day until DP - always thought it was a one night treat. Think it's a bit odd - is it?

No offence OP but you sound like a complete and utter crazy person.

Who doesn’t like curry leftovers?! Best thing ever!

speakout · 15/08/2020 10:13

I deliberately order more take away than will be eaten that night- with the intention of havinng enough for a meal the next day.
I find a single curry huge- too much to be eaten on one night if eaten with side dishes, popadoms, rice and bread, I always order a few extra chapatis to eat the following day with the leftovers.

Hotandknackered · 15/08/2020 10:18

Why would you think it's odd? Not strange at all.

ChangeThePassword · 15/08/2020 10:22

10 pages of replies and op is nowhere to be seen.

What about left over chicken balls?? X

marriednotdead · 15/08/2020 11:11

@lookatallthosechickens

Also- top tip for reheating pizza: hot, dry frying pan (not nonstick, because you’ll ruin the coating at the temp you need) with a lid. When you can just start to smell the crust getting toasty it’s ready. Crispy crust, re-melted cheese, hot toppings. Better than when it was delivered usually. Only problem is that you can only do 2-3 slices at a time depending on size of your pan.
Alternatively use a panini press, DS awarded me mum genius status for that one Grin

What about left over chicken balls??

Rooster/Cockeral balls, surely?

MadgeMak · 15/08/2020 12:22

The reheated rice fear is weird. My husband is Asian, can confirm neither he nor I, or his entire extended family, has ever been poisoned by eating reheated rice. His mum just leaves it in the rice cooker for days on end.

Oysterbabe · 15/08/2020 12:26

I've been poisoned by reheated rice. My body rejected it more violently than it has ever rejected anything 🤮🤮

portocristo · 15/08/2020 12:32

Are you crazy it’s even better the next day it would be a crime to throw it away 🥘

wigornian · 15/08/2020 12:34

English- never done this and neither does anyone I know!!!!

Happynow001 · 15/08/2020 12:35

@BestOption

I prefer to order a couple of different curries & 'sides' and have it over 2/3 nights than just have one single curry.

Why would you just throw it away if there's any left over?

Yep that's what I do. Where I live (and I guess normally anyway?) you have to order a certain £amount to get "free" delivery or pay a separate delivery charge so I just order enough for one instant gratification and two future treats. Lovely...

Dancingdeer77 · 15/08/2020 12:36

He is normal Smile

cricketmum84 · 15/08/2020 12:37

Why would you not save it??? I think it's more weird to bin it.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 15/08/2020 12:47

No it's fine in my very humble opinion especially as we have Covid and Brexshit so need to be flexible and max out life! Thai jungle with fish is great but any fish and seafood is best enjoyed freshly prepared otherwise any curry itself tends to work well reheated/cooked and even sauce base for another meal!

ifoundafoxcaughtbydogs · 15/08/2020 12:48

It's the ultimate leftovers!

BarbaraofSeville · 15/08/2020 16:11

I think the OP is scared of coming back and admitting to throwing away her leftover curry all these years.

It being obvious she's the one who's a bit weird in not saving it. Strange circles she must move in to not come across this as the norm up to now though. This thread demonstrates that saving leftover curry for the next day is truly something that just about everyone does.

Aposterhasnoname · 15/08/2020 16:43

OMFG, what sort of weirdo doesn’t eat leftover takeaway for breakfast the next day. YAB soooooo U

And to OPs DH, LTB.

whirlwindwallaby · 15/08/2020 17:17

I regularly cook rice for three nights, a third served up, then a third each in two containers and straight in the fridge (for two people so not a large amount of hot food to go in the fridge), never been poisoned. I cook chicken curry and leave it out in the pot to cool down before putting it in the fridge (cook for three nights as with rice), never been poisoned. I've only been poisoned by Domino's chicken pizza, and that was bought and eaten straight away!

Ootd86 · 15/08/2020 17:21

Leftover curry is delicious.

Ootd86 · 15/08/2020 17:22

And I have to: hate food waste and a single portion is normally enough for two meals, give usual takeaway portion sizes!

Chanjer · 15/08/2020 17:23

Left over curry, side and rice

Fried for breakfast

Best thing in the world ever

Mummadeeze · 15/08/2020 17:26

It isn’t a weird thing to do but I wouldn’t do it as I never fancy eating curry again so soon after I ate it the night before. I always feel bloated and awful the next day and like I need a healthy meal to compensate.

Gobbycop · 15/08/2020 17:30

Cold out tbe fridge for breakfast the following day, with the dirty cold fork that's been left on the plate.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/08/2020 17:35

YABU, very. But I think you know that now Grin

I had the most gorgeous red massaman curry last night, with rice. It was quite a large portion and I had every intention of keeping some for lunch today. But it was just so tasty I was a pig that I ate it all. Hugely regretted it today!
