AIBU or is saving curry a bit weird

Never known anyone to keep leftover takeaway for the next day until DP - always thought it was a one night treat. Think it's a bit odd - is it?

Always! I've managed to eak it out for days

Bl3ss3dm0m · 15/08/2020 17:45

Sorry, UABVU, and weird. Just try it - even cold from the fridge without heating up Grin

Jeeperscreepers69 · 15/08/2020 17:48

I half a curry. Have rest for brekkie next day about 11am🍛

Wilkie1956mog · 15/08/2020 17:51

Reheated curry and noodles/chow mein etc are great. I cook fresh rice though. Reheated rice is dodgy.

MarvellousMonsters · 15/08/2020 17:53

So you would throw away perfectly good (and probably expensive) food just because it’s a takeaway??

You are being V V V unreasonable, and wasteful.

DoubleHelix79 · 15/08/2020 18:00

After reading this thread I've now HAD to order a huge amount of curry :-D

clarehhh · 15/08/2020 18:01

Agree well reheated leftovers are delicious. Or even chicken korma in a sandwich.

VerbenaGirl · 15/08/2020 18:11

YABU! Love curry leftovers the next day!!

corythatwas · 15/08/2020 18:11

I was always told it was wrong to throw food away. Also, as others have said- leftover curry is delicious. Rice can be dodgy, but the rest should be fine.

YogiBearcub · 15/08/2020 18:12

I am super happy whenever there are takeaway leftovers, 2 nights in a row without cooking!? Do not complain when life gives you unexpected gifts!

FancyAnOlive · 15/08/2020 18:14

I ate left over curry this very morning

rachaelclaire1 · 15/08/2020 18:19

God yes gorgeous next day

FelicisNox · 15/08/2020 18:22

I wouldn't eat it but I can see why others do.

KFC is nice the next day.

MyWitzEnd · 15/08/2020 18:26

I munch the whole week!

PoodleMoth · 15/08/2020 18:29

YABVU!

Proudboomer · 15/08/2020 18:31

When I cook a curry I always cook it the day before and leave it to stand overnight.
Takeaway left overs are one of life’s true joys. An extra meal I haven’t had to cook. I have spent nearly 50 years eating curry left overs the next day including the rice and I am not dead yet.

thepointoforder · 15/08/2020 18:35

Almost all takeaway is better the next day. Except fish and chips.

JustAPassingFashion · 15/08/2020 18:37

We always order an extra dish so we can make up a full sized meal each the next day GrinHmm

Ironfloor269 · 15/08/2020 18:41

I've just packed leftover Thai food takeaway for tomorrow's lunches. One takeaway (two boxes of rice and three sides) easily gives us six meals - three on the day and three for lunch next day.

hoxtonbabe · 15/08/2020 18:41

I agree, fish and chips has be to eaten as fresh as possible, all that crispy batter and hot freshly fried chips with lashings of onion vinegar. This also applies to McDonald’s, ( or any burger place even five guys) and any chicken shop chicken and chips, anything other than that same day, better still within 30mins of receiving it tastes horrid.

CorvusPurpureus · 15/08/2020 18:44

I see someone beat me to left over curry breakfast Breville sarnies. With mango chutney & raita to dunk. Bloody gorgeous!

Also, if I cook rice I always deliberately cook too much. Freeze in individual portions in one of those 200ml ice cream tubs, then nuke in the microwave for meals for one. My chest freezer is full of small portions of rice, & of home made chilli or curry so the kids can help themselves - I also take them to work for lunch.

I wouldn't leave rice lying about though. I had food poisoning after a family buffet once, where the common element in sufferers was my Auntie Pat's rice salad.

I was shitting foul water for 76 hours & it felt like I was in labour. Grim.

Flowers009 · 15/08/2020 18:46

WTF 100% YABU

this is totally normal and things like curry always better the next day

chaoticfave · 15/08/2020 19:29

I think quite a lot of people do it but I personally can’t eat leftover anything never mind a takeaway curry that has been left festering overnight. In fact if I have a takeaway I can’t even leave the empty cartons/packaging in the house for much longer after I’ve finished. They have to go immediately outside because I can’t tolerate the smell. So no, there’s no way I could “save” curry.

ohcarolina2001 · 15/08/2020 19:37

We actually over order deliberately so we can have curry 2 nights in a row, lol!

RowboatsinDisguise · 15/08/2020 19:44

Curry breakfast!
