Never known anyone to keep leftover takeaway for the next day until DP - always thought it was a one night treat. Think it's a bit odd - is it?

YABU.

Ifeelsuchafool · 15/08/2020 20:33

Leftover curry is an oxymoron.

Quackersandcheese3 · 15/08/2020 20:54

Totally normal!

Mookie81 · 15/08/2020 23:28

@ludothedog

I always buy extra to have the next day Blush
Ditto! Grin

I prefer leftover pizza for breakfast. Curry is also acceptable but we always order more naan than rice because I wont save takeaway rice to be reheated.

Aridane · 16/08/2020 04:28

OP has to be a troll, yes? Everyone knows curry is better the next day. And who throws sweat good food?

Shesapunkpunk · 16/08/2020 04:43

Are you actually insane? What will you eat for breakfast then? Haha! Enjoy your shit toast while he eats cold curry.

cheapskatemum · 16/08/2020 06:59

@PleasantVille My step DiL is Scottish and threw away the remains of a curry last time DH, DSs & I stayed there. The next day we were just 😧🤷🏼‍♀️. She said she always does that. There was loads left as well. We’d been really looking forward to it for brunch.

galaxybuttons · 16/08/2020 07:50

I don't do it (probably coz it all gets eaten in our house....) but the majority of people I know save left over curry for the next day.

Dino90 · 16/08/2020 07:55

OP you haven’t lived! Give it a try

KatherineJaneway · 16/08/2020 07:56

I always do this. Tastes better and spreads the takeaway love over more days.

DustbinTimberlake · 16/08/2020 08:01

Slightly off topic, but what’s the deal with the reheating rice? I’m an emetophobe so I’m really careful with food hygiene, and I know it’s Not Supposed To Be Done. But I’ve known loads of people do it with no problem, and surely heating up a ton of rice pudding is the same? We made a delicious rice pudding recently and I didn’t dare eat any heated up the next day but DH did and was totally fine

If you refrigerate it straight away and heat it right through, within a day or two, it's probably fine. It's more a risk if you leave it out at room temperature for a long time before putting it in the fridge. I don't think the risk is huge but I also don't think it's worth it if the rice wasn't refrigerated quickly or is more than a day or so old.
Angel2702 · 16/08/2020 08:11

I don’t even eat curry but leftover takeaway is always kept by anyone I’ve ever met. Would think it more unusual to bin it TBH.

passthemustard · 16/08/2020 08:16

What do you do? Throw it away? Omg

ToftyAC · 16/08/2020 08:49

Perfectly normal thing to do.

Aglet · 16/08/2020 10:05

Curry improves with age, as does chinese. Try it.

@Mummadeeze

It isn’t a weird thing to do but I wouldn’t do it as I never fancy eating curry again so soon after I ate it the night before. I always feel bloated and awful the next day and like I need a healthy meal to compensate.
You're buying from the wrong places.

This thread has reminded me that I have leftover daal in the fridge from Friday evening. That's going on my baked potato tonight - carbs on carbs, heavenly.

I am dying for the OP to come back and explain herself Grin

beautifulmonument · 16/08/2020 12:00

YABU we always keep leftovers for tomorrow, there’s always too much food 😋

FinnyStory · 16/08/2020 12:15

Much weirder to throw good food away

Ravenesque · 16/08/2020 18:15

Just about all leftovers are a joy. Chips not so much because they go a bit meh and pasta needs to be sauced up if it's not to go hard, but I'll eat just about any sort of leftover.

tupperwaretowers · 16/08/2020 18:24

Cold curry and warmed up chapattis, maybe a bit of minty sauce = breakfast heaven! My mouth is watering thinking about it.

mrsbyers · 16/08/2020 18:47

We plan to have the next day , place near us does a set meal thing and after starters we often set aside the main for easy Monday night supper - so many things taste better when left a day or longer to mature and curry is one of them
