Like, what foods are so calorific / full of fat but you didn’t realise and now think are not worth eating?

Didn’t realise quiche was so bad now I’m never eating it again!!

What’s so bad about quiche?

thistimelastweek · 14/08/2020 19:29

Deep fried pizza?

isseywith4vampirecats · 14/08/2020 19:30

cant think of any food i wouldnt eat because of its fat content

Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 14/08/2020 19:31

Nuts are probably one of the fattiest healthier foods? Cheese? I watch out for sugar content more as that’s what makes you fat

beabettermum · 14/08/2020 19:32

Takeaway pizza. So greasy and probably full of rat piss.

EmJay19 · 14/08/2020 19:32

!!

Crap. Read your OP wrong.

I'd go with white pasta

EmJay19 · 14/08/2020 19:33

This is bad no?

Plain Hob Nobs, - as in no chocolate. It’s a tragedy. I mean we know biscuits are high in calories but in calorie to weight terms they are something special. I could woof down a packet nursing a mug of tea and a hangover, or when camping, no bother.

uglyface · 14/08/2020 19:38

Nah, I’ll happily eat high fat but carbs kill me. White bread is the enemy.

PurpleDaisies · 14/08/2020 19:39

That’s one quiche. I don’t think all quiches have to be unhealthy, especially home made ones.

If it tastes really nice, I’d eat either a small piece or not have it very often.

For good tasting food, there’s nothing that would put me off in tents of calories etc. Anything can be part of a healthy diet if portion/frequency is appropriate.

I don’t bother with crappy supermarket cupcakes that taste of nothing. They really aren’t worth the calories.

PicsInRed · 14/08/2020 19:40

The world has already determined this issue.

It's Durian. 😂

EssentialHummus · 14/08/2020 19:48

I mean, it depends. I think nuts are far too calorific for the (to my mind, limited) enjoyment they offer, whereas cheese - bring it on. Quiche? Bleurgh. Cheeseburgers? Yup! Etc. This is clearly a rather subjective measure though.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 14/08/2020 19:53

Macadamia nuts are startlingly high in fat. But lovely.

Everything in moderation though. I'd rather have a sensible slice of really nice quiche than a big, tasteless Slimming World ready meal.

frumpety · 14/08/2020 19:53

Honestly ? there is no food that isn't worth eating if it tastes lovely, you perhaps shouldn't eat it a lot or eat a lot of it. Most very healthy and slim people I know will eat food that tastes lovely, but stick to the 'shouldn't eat it a lot or eat a lot of it rule.

EmJay19 · 14/08/2020 20:02

Macadamia nuts over quiche any day! I mean, I though quiche was good for you & part of a balanced meal

OP posts:
Littleposh · 14/08/2020 20:15

Quiche is only unhealthy because it's wrapped in pastry, which is probably what makes it so good!! Have an omelette instead??

TheAquaticDuchess · 14/08/2020 20:17

I remember reading that a large pot of dominoes garlic and herb dip is about 700 calories. Over a third of your daily calories for just a few tablespoons of dip! I don’t eat dominoes any more anyway but that really shocked me. I was always aware that the pizzas were calorific but had no idea the real culprit was the dip...

EmJay19 · 14/08/2020 20:19

@TheAquaticDuchess wow!!

BitchTitties · 14/08/2020 21:12

See, if it’s really calorific but delicious then I’ll have a portion but pad out the meal with a big salad for tiny calories. So it balances out but it still fills me up

BitchTitties · 14/08/2020 21:12

Well, that’s at least what I’ve been trying whilst dieting, stops me feeling deprived!

AtleastitsnotMonday · 14/08/2020 21:14

Id say pub macaroni cheese and chips
Dominos pizza

Naticus · 14/08/2020 21:20

I thought quiche was good for you

It's literally cream/milk, egg & cheese wrapped in buttery pastry. Grin

I want quiche now.

CherryLicious · 14/08/2020 21:23

Cake. I think it's really over-rated.

Doggybiccys · 14/08/2020 21:28

We buy crust-less quiche and it’s not too bad calorie wise.

I too was shocked at the calories in even a plain pizza. Apparently pizza express tortellini salad has more fat, calories and sugar than a Big Mac, fries and regular coke. Or something like that.
