Like, what foods are so calorific / full of fat but you didn’t realise and now think are not worth eating?

Didn’t realise quiche was so bad now I’m never eating it again!!

OP posts:
MitziK · 15/08/2020 01:19

Things like 'Dirty Fries' or 'Dirty Burger'.

CherryCocktails · 15/08/2020 01:43

A pot noodle. Well over 400 calories in the regular size pot!

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 15/08/2020 01:58

Rodízio all-you-can-eat Brazilian barbecue steakhouse restaurant

Bulletproof Coffee (www.bulletproof.com/recipes/bulletproof-diet-recipes/bulletproof-coffee-recipe/)

All inclusive luxury ocean cruise!

Mintjulia · 15/08/2020 02:01

Deep fried Brie. My idea of a greasy nightmare.

I don’t tend to worry about calories. I balance them out over a few days or do extra exercise, but that’s one food I can’t justify.

HopelessSemantics · 15/08/2020 02:35

Bourbon biscuits and custard creams. Rubbish.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/08/2020 02:55

Fat is not the enemy. Carbs (particularly sugar) is the enemy.

caringcarer · 15/08/2020 03:19

I adore pork scratchings but they have no good nutrition and basically just fat.

JingsMahBucket · 15/08/2020 04:57

I hate jammie dodgers. They taste like perfume. Gross.

mayormaynot · 15/08/2020 05:12

Awful cake. When it's dry and has plastic icing. Many cafe cakes look amazing but taste vile. I'll taste it and if it's not amazing I just leave it. Definitely not worth the calories.

Irked123 · 15/08/2020 07:20

OP quiche IS fine as part of a balanced meal.

Anything is fine as part of a balanced meal what's why it's called a balanced meal Hmm
Just don't go eating a while one.

Never eating it again feels a bit extreme...

loutypips · 15/08/2020 09:06

Not food, but coffee that you get from the coffee chains. One cup can be 500-600 calories. I'd rather eat my calories than drink them! Water for me!

lifeafter50 · 15/08/2020 09:06

I sometime think that when I am too old to go anywhere or care what I look like, I will just eat cheese and nuts and drink wine and die earlier but happier 😀

Happynow001 · 15/08/2020 09:33

Tripe. We ate lots of offal and cheap cuts in my childhood as money was extremely tight. My mother made it taste good but I was always put off as I would know exactly what it was. It was still better than the ox heart thought... 🤢

Fuck it. I do that now with wild abandon anyway.
TheMumblesofMumbledom · 15/08/2020 13:38

Quiche is so worth the calories if served with a humongous mixed leaf salad, which by the way is one of my most favourite things in the world to eat. But the quiche has to be homemade, slightly warm and still a bit jiggly Grin

Hairthrowaway · 15/08/2020 13:38

I see lots of American food trends on social media and I just don’t know how they eat it!

Think deep fried anything & everything; desserts absolutely drenched in massive amount of chocolate (in a sickly way); food absolutely drenched in cheese like a massive cheeseburger drenched in fondue etc

Lelophants · 15/08/2020 13:40

It depends on the quiche op. A bit of quiche is good for you. Remember we do need some fat! Especially if it's just that and a bit of salad.

Fyzz · 15/08/2020 13:41

I have no idea what calories are in anything. Just eat food you like and if you believe it's "bad" don't eat it every day.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 15/08/2020 13:49

@EmJay19

Macadamia nuts over quiche any day! I mean, I though quiche was good for you & part of a balanced meal
ANYTHING is part of a balanced meal if you have a "right" amount of it.
geekone · 15/08/2020 13:50

There are no bad foods just foods we should enjoy occasionally rather than daily. Have a look at “the diet chef” on Facebook or instagram he has great pictures of Food with explanations on why there is no good or bad.

Lelophants · 15/08/2020 13:53

Having 'good and 'bad' foods is a great way to fasttrack your way into an eating disorder. Life is too short. Eat in moderation and enjoy your life.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 15/08/2020 13:54

Shocked at the calories on those supermarket sandwiches. 440 for an egg and cress tasteless one, 600 for some and they dont fill you up.

Easy. Bread and mayo. I don't lile mayo in sandwich and used to have a problem to find some without. Tablespoon of mayo can be 100 cal. It's pretty meh fir that amount of calories

Pacif1cDogwood · 15/08/2020 13:54

It is a reflection of how far removed we are from even knowing what a good human diet is when quiche is considered 'bad'. It really isn't.

Chanjer · 15/08/2020 13:58

Findus crispy pancakes

Even if they actually gave you calories back they still wouldn't be worth eating

Disgusting

HyggeTygge · 15/08/2020 14:01

Lots of people missing the point of the op, i feel! I remember (when i was young) when I found out how many calories were in a slice of white bread. It's BREAD! How can it not be healthy to eat loads of it?!
There's a line in Scott Pilgrim along the same lines!

I agree with pp, houmous also feels like it should be healthy, plus organic sweetened/luxury yoghurts...
