To only vacuum twice weekly?

BadEyeBri · 14/08/2020 17:50

Just reading another thread and someone mentioned vacuuming 3 (!) times a day. How often do y'all vacuum? Twice weekly in my house. I know we are lazy but it's grand, no one has died (yet?). I'm fairly sure there's nothing that will make me up my vacuuming levels either
Am I a full on dirty mare leading my poor DH into a life of squalor and disease? AIBU in not vacuuming more????

@Tunnocks34

I do a shake and vac of the house every Saturday. And then I probably vacuum the living room rug every 2 days.

Cleaner vaccine the house top to bottom on a Wednesday

House vaccine made me laugh.

Up an down stairs every day doesnt take long at all prob 20mins am a bit ocd tho. I wish I could just not do it for a few days at a time but I just have todo it same with all the housework really I just can't leave it.

emmaluggs · 14/08/2020 21:58

Twice a day, a very messy eating toddler, and 2 very hairy dogs. Once in the AM and once in the evening, and sometimes a midday whizz round if been a messy morning

Feelingpoorlysick · 14/08/2020 22:03

Once or twice a day downstairs, once a week upstairs.

We have a dog, a cat and a 5 year old. I like to keep on top of downstairs.

BadEyeBri · 14/08/2020 22:08

@ThisLittleLady my extreme reason is that I have a life outside hoovering 😆 it really doesn't bother me that much and since the likelihood of you coming to my house approaches zero perhaps you should calm down dear

Well that escalated. I'm away to open some wine thereby proving I am a drink dependent slattern.

OMG This thread is terrifying me! How on earth do you get anything else done if you vaccuum every day?

I am very tidy. i like the place to look nice. I vaccuum every 2 weeks ish. Don't think anyone has ever noticed floors being grubby

FreekStar · 14/08/2020 22:40

If you only vacuum once a fortnight then your floors must definitely be grubby. Of course nobody is going to mention it though!

Deadringer · 14/08/2020 22:49

When i am visiting someone i don't examine the floor, and even if they look a bit grubby, so what, they are for walking on, not for eating off.

Dazzedandconfused · 14/08/2020 22:52

Naticus
I also recently got a shark and its definitely encouraged me to hoover more often! Love it!

Porcupineinwaiting · 14/08/2020 22:56

I can never, ever imagine being do short of things to do that I would vacuum my house every day.

Baaaahhhhh · 14/08/2020 23:01

Once a week. We have light carpets and wooden floors, cats and teens, but we take shoes off at the door, and food is only allowed in the kitchen. I am a tyrant.

Chocolateandamaretto · 14/08/2020 23:02

Get a robovac! Run it upstairs/downstairs on alternating days. Lifesaver. I do have a cordless as well but mainly just use it for the stairs/skirting, that I only do once a week.

TheVamoosh · 14/08/2020 23:03

Once a week, but we also have a robotic vacuum that goes around every day.

minnieok · 14/08/2020 23:04

Oops, since I moved away from the hairy one (dog stayed with ex) I vacuum when I notice it is needed, maybe once a fortnight

AlwaysLatte · 14/08/2020 23:04

Once or twice a day downstairs where the dog goes but once a week upstairs.

FedUpofLockdown123 · 14/08/2020 23:06

Everyone must live in massive houses because it takes me about 5 minutes to hoover my living room and kitchen/dining area and tiny hall!

AlwaysLatte · 14/08/2020 23:06

Oops, since I moved away from the hairy one (dog stayed with ex)
Which one's the hairy one? The dog or the ex? Grin

AlwaysLatte · 14/08/2020 23:09

People who only hoover every fortnight, don't the tiny 'bits' bother you? That would drive me insane!

LunchBoxPolice · 14/08/2020 23:16

we have 3 dogs and 7 cats
Your house must be...fragrant

fanniboz · 14/08/2020 23:17

As a rule of thumb as and when needed but we have a very hairy Labrador so it ends up needing done daily for freshness more than anything. Not that it gets done daily Grin

ivfbabymomma1 · 14/08/2020 23:18

A few times daily but I have a cordless that hangs on the wall so I just kinda grab it as and when!

Megan2018 · 14/08/2020 23:19

@AlwaysLatte No not particularly, only when they stick to the baby! Grin

The hens spent most of the day in the kitchen, they are quite efficient at picking up bits. Although I fo have to then clear up after them. I don’t ignore the chicken shit-I do have some standards Wink

I liked having the cleaner do it weekly though so when no longer tortured with nursery fees we’ll have her back Smile

BackforGood · 14/08/2020 23:20

Wow, there are a lot of people on here who live a very different life from me.
During term time, I am now lucky enough to have a cleaner once a week, so I never vacuum.
For the 30+ years of adult life when I didn't have a cleaner, I've NEVER vacuumed more than once a week, and frequently have vacuumed a lot less often than once a fortnight.

hiredandsqueak · 14/08/2020 23:20

I have a robovac so Jack the robovac vacuums every day. When dgs comes I set him off again when he leaves as well to clear up the crumbs that he leaves throwing stuff from the highchair.
