Went out for dinner tonight and ordered sausage and mash from the menu. It said it came with garden peas, but mentioned nothing about salad.

This is gross right?

Yes. Totally

bettsbattenburg · 13/08/2020 01:24

Yes, that's wrong on absolutely ever level there is, has been and ever will be.

Onesailwait · 13/08/2020 01:26

It does seem odd but that said I just had mashed potatoes with caesar salad for dinner. It was bloody lovely

Glad it’s not just me. I’m not one for normally taking a photo of my dinners, but on this occasion I made an exception.

You normally get peas or salad so wonder if she accidentally clicked something and somewhere there's a chef saying to their partner "had a right one tonight, women orders bad cheers and nah with gravy, am fine eh? But she ordered a side salad on the same plate. Nearly threw up my own dinner pouring that gravy on!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 13/08/2020 01:34

and the restaurant team were probably soooo proud that you were so impressed by your food that you were going to put it on instagram Grin

I thought they were courgettes at first (OK)
then realised they were cucumbers (weird)

SatanicDesk · 13/08/2020 01:58

I opened this innocently thinking any wilted leaves would be fine and never expecting cucumber & tomatoes 😱😱😱😱 YADNBU!!

Yuck!

PrincessandthePeach · 13/08/2020 02:08

Sorry but I would be sick. Can't cope with weird foods mixed like this...

Confusedismyname · 13/08/2020 02:15

The order was taken the old fashioned way with a pen and pad.

Someone has clicked YABU, so there are some fans of salad and gravy out there.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 13/08/2020 02:17

I love both salad and gravy. Not together though. And i love weird and wonderful combinations.

Plus that gravy is watery gravy should be thick

MordredsOrrery · 13/08/2020 02:18

2020 strikes again! That is an abomination - sorry it was actually your tea Sad

HopelessSemantics · 13/08/2020 02:27

Eugggggh

steff13 · 13/08/2020 02:48

Gravy on salad is wrong. Salad should come on its own, before the entree.

TheoriginalLEM · 13/08/2020 07:10

That belongs on rate my plate!

CasperGutman · 13/08/2020 07:17

@Butterer

My mum used to have pickled beetroot with her shepherd's pie and gravy - not quite in the same league of wrongness, but getting there.
That's not wrong at all. Pickles absolutely belong with traditional stodge like shepherd's pie, and a pickle based on a root vegetable is certainly not an exception. It's similar to having pickled red cabbage with meat and potato pie, which is an absolutely classic combination in the part of south Lancashire I hail from.
Badabingbadabum · 13/08/2020 07:21

Blugh! I can imagine the texture of warm gravy on cold cucumber.

What did you do OP? I hope you handed it back and told them.it was an abomination.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 13/08/2020 07:21

Dear god. I’m not one for being squeamish about food and Dan eat pretty much everything but that is badder than bad.

And the gravy looks dreadful quality. Where in gods name did you go to eat?!

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/08/2020 07:22

I wouldn't have salad with sausage, mash and gravy but I would have it with lasagne, pasta with sauce or curry. My husband has an aversion to salad and gravy in any form so I put his in a separate bowl.

Dollywilde · 13/08/2020 07:25

Bleurgh...

I have just asked DH who has a reputation for odd food combinations (he’s like Joey in Friends - ‘what’s not to like? Jam - good - cream - good - meat - good’) and he’s agreed that is horrific. Which is saying something.

I really want to know what the restaurant’s defence is for something like that...

NellePorter · 13/08/2020 07:27

@SleepingStandingUp why do you assume that the person serving is female?

Totally wrong to have salad with that meal, OP.

Aria20 · 13/08/2020 07:31

Grin maybe they ran out of seasonal veg so chucked a salad on to look healthy....
